I will have to remember that the next time I’m working one of those. I was position 3 this trip, so I just assisted the position 2 (main cabin galley) with whatever they needed help with.

A speaker is someone who is fluent in the language of the destination we are going to. There’s usually two speaker positions on each transatlantic trip that goes to a country that speaks a different language. Speakers have to be qualified in that position and basically just fly routes to the destinations that speak whatever language they are qualified in. So for my trip one of the Spanish speakers called out. We don’t have a lot of speakers on reserve, so if another speaker doesn’t pick up the position they have to assign it to a non-speaker. Which is what happened in my case.

Yes we were on a 777. We didn’t have any issues with the storm other than a little bit of turbulence, but nothing too crazy
