this definitely a good drama. I have to say the ending when she is walking in that beautiful blue outfit holding her son's hand she looked absolutely cool. She looked every bit the royal woman. Oh. A good show I've still to finish. Not looking forward to the sad ending. I recently tried again and it kept getting sadder and sadder and darker and darker. My son told me the other day that it gets really dark... so I probably won't be finishing. Just a warning for anyone.

Reading the comic version now, I think it should followed the novel version closely. Quite different compared to the drama version. Biggest detail is Weiyang's identity wasn't taken by a foreign princess but she was given a second chance to relive her life again. So she's Weiyang through and through. She was betrayed and given the poison wine by the third prince (Touba Zhen), they were married and she was his queen but got dethroned and sent to the cold palace. I think the third prince's character is Touba Yu's character in the drama version. Though the name have changed, I wonder why they (drama) don't at least keep the name. So confusing. As there is a Touba Yu name in the manga/book version and it's the 7th prince. Whom I suspect is actually Touba Jun's character (male lead) in the drama version. Weiyang in the manga/book version, helps 7th prince as she wanted revenge on the third prince. She's not interested to be romantically involved with any prince. So she rejected both 3rd and 7th prince. I haven't finish reading it yet so I am not sure how it will end. As from one of the pages, the author of the manga, wrote that the main guy is the adopted brother (Li Minde). That's totally different from the drama version. Updated > I have continued with this story with the audio book version since the manga version isn't complete. Now I am further on with the storyline. WOW, so different. After she has done her revenge on the third prince, her mom and grandma was assinated by people sent from another kingdom's queen because Weiyang caused the death of her daugther. This daughter/ princess came to this kingdom and married to the third prince. So in order to seek revenge for her mother and grandma, Weiyang travelled to the other kingdom. That other kingdom is where Li Minde's real parents came from. His father is the emperor of that kingdom. When he went back to this kingdom, he took the identity of the son of one of the emperor's brother. As Li Minde is the product of the emperor and the emperor's sister. Though when they met each other back then, they didn't know they were siblings. But they has already fallen in love, so it was too late. Weiyang also took the identity of the daughter from a prominent family in this kingdom. Since nothing of this part of the storyline is in the drama version, so it is quite interesting, So far, I preferred the book version. Even though, Weiyang is very good with her scheming and reading people skills, she also get a lot of help from Li Minde (Yuan Lie). She was resisting Minde/ Yuan Lie's wooing and affections at first but he finally won her over little by little.

First of all, I would not take kindly to being called "OLD Madam". Someone would have to do better. Second, who gives a rat's ass what others think and say about what goes on in my family? The women in the family are all at each other's throats, poisoning, incriminating, alienating them all against each other, involving the help, going so far as to poison themselves and the Master. Somebody needs to take charge and sort this out. Wei Young has been victimized and bullied enough.
It's a title of respect, "Lao Furen" which in direct translation would be "old wife" because she was the wife of the family head, "furen" and she's a grandmother so the "old" or "lao" in the title. I wrote the words how they sound phonetically so it might not be the correct pinyin, it doesn't make sense to the rest of us, but it's part of Chinese culture (that I only understand because of cdramas tbh.)
Please don’t call it kimono. All that before Qing dynasty is call Han Fu. Chinese garments are Han Fu. Dress in several layers, wide sleeves and wide bottom dress. You should read about the living style in Qin Dynasty. Almost exact the same of Japanese style.
