Album: Black Noise by the Canadian band: FM Released in 1978....Was the favorite album of my then girlfriend, Susie (RIP). Enjoy! With Peace and Love to All! (Michael)
Thanks for all you did in 2024. You really came through with your 3 videos a day promise for December. Happy New Year's to you. Looking forward to what's in store for 2025. I've got my hopes up that for one Saturday in 2025, you may get to P.J. Harvey's 'Let England Shake' album. It's about 35 mins. long so not a huge commitment. It's a very thoughtful and deep (in meaning) album that won a Mercury award for 2011. Anyway, I know you've probably got 1,000 requests, so one can only hope it works It's way into your sights.
Sounds like a great lineup… The Sound and Flaming Lips albums are great. Some bands to consider for future long-song Saturdays that you’ve never listened to: GRANDADDY - The Sophtware Slump (Sounds like Neil Young fronting Radiohead… one of the best albums of the year) THE CHILLS - Submarine Bells (absoutely sparkling album from first song to last) THE DELGADOS - Hate (same producer as the Flaming Lips… and it’s packed with emotion and drama) MENOMENA - Friend and Foe (quirky, brilliant, wonderful album… totally memorable) Looking forward to a new year of great music, Justin! Happy New Year!
Have you ever reacted to or heard of Honeymoon Suite JP? There is a great deep cut from them called all along you knew. It features Ian Anderson on flute and it’s a great song. Happy new year.
Well, I'm curious about Gnidrolog... Anyway, Happy New Years!!! As far as artists you've never played here, I have to plug South African great Johnny Clegg again, try his album with Savuka Heat, Dust, and Dreams, or the song from it The Crossing. I'll mention Andreas Vollenweider's Down to the Moon again, because you've only hit that one concert video you stumbled upon and loved.
I love how sometimes I learn a lot of stuff I never knew through this channel. I had never heard of Gnidrolog before (the name apparently is an anagram of "Goldring", the last name of 2 band members). Was surprised to find the rhythm section of Nigel Pegrum and Rick Kemp - they would go on to play the same role in Steeleye Span, a favorite of mine.
Not quite! They had to sneak an extra O into the band name, otherwise it wouldn't make sense. (😁) The album leans more into prog than the folk rock of Steeleye Span and has some cool moments though it was never going to be a classic.
Gnidrolog is an anagram (almost) of band members surname Goldring, brothers Stewart and Colin. After the band split they formed a short lived punk rock band Pork Dukes.
This is an awesome lineup!! Thanks JP, looking forward to all of these. So cool that you're checking out Gnidrolog, Lady Lake is one of my favourite obscure '70s prog rock gems. Holy Diver is great as well; I haven't heard the other 2 albums but both bands are on my list of stuff to check out! P.S. Do you have an account on Rateyourmusic? I'd love to follow you on there! Cheers 🤘🤘
Thank you for keeping it up for us! I'm especially pumped for The Flaming Lips. By the way, will you return to Suede? I would also love to see if you like the song Dragon (more technical thrash metal) or Crumbling Castle (more on the progressive side) by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. And, if you haven't yet listened to it, one of my all time favorite albums - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins :)
@@leemartin4070 he's played the first two in case U haven't heard I love the Maccabees. Love You Better got me started. Around the same time as DananaAykroyd's Black Wax? Classic singles!
So, cue me! to remind you gently of these Welsh bands that are yet to make their debut on Hey it's Just JP LPTV. Week One: Super Furry Animals singing Guerrilla Week Two: Scritti Politti - Cupid & Psyche'85 Week Three : Catatonia - Paper Scissors Stone Week Four - the new album by Pedair coz I haven't heard it yet but it's by four exceptional Welsh female singers. There, simples! Diolch. Take yer pick. No Rush. I've had more than my fair share of recommendations played during these last 5 years. I'll let you know if yer missing out on ze crucial stuff though. Nos da.
When you said a band you’ve never reviewed before, I was really hoping we would finally get a Mr Bungle review. Alas, not this time. But, if you ever decide to, California is the best album to start off with. It’s not as batshit crazy as Disco Volante, and won’t instantly get you demonetized like the Self-titled album. Maybe for February? 🤞
@@Owlstretchingtime78 Two totally different bands. That’s like saying The Misfits and Danzig were the same because they had the same singer. Or Montrose and Van Hagar.
@Eduardo-Ferreira1982 He started 'The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter' two years ago, and we've had two tracks? It's not as if he didn't like it. There's a bias against the Harper's, Martyn's etc of this world also!
@Owlstretchingtime78 even if people around these places say there isnt, the fact is that they don't get the attention they truly derve. Because of JP, I started to like Martin. But Roy Harper needs to come into this channel, truly does.
@Owlstretchingtime78 Besides, if he had listen to the whole "Liquid Acrobats as Regards the Air" I bet he would had get a strongly different perception and give it a huge ovation.
Do I have to give the only love for Dio in this desert of a comments section? Well, here it is! Holy Diver is a classic debut and every note is perfect.
I would like you to listen to the Fusion Orchestra song "Sonata in Z", from the 1973 album "Skeleton In Armor", the composition is 12 minutes long, I recommend listening to the whole album, I threw this offer to you in the comments three months ago.
Amazing list you got planned for us!! One I hope to see you cover in 2025 is Whitesnake (self titled), cause you’re almost finished with Burn from Deep Purple
Hi Justin! I have just finished watching your reaction to the Sound's album on Patreon. It's funny, it was the kind of new wave style of music I enjoyed listening to in the early 80s, but somehow they had completely passed me by; I had never heard of them before! The Flaming Lips, to be honest, I am not a fan of. I find the lead singer's voice really grates on my nerves! If you at some point return to Laura Marling's new album, "Patterns in Repeat", then please can I recommend the beautiful and ingenious, "Caroline". You can really hear the Leonard Cohen influence on this song. Great stuff! Cheers!
Uhh! I won't miss this month! A great album for you to consider nest month is THE IAN GILLAN BAND, with the second studio album 'Clear Air Turbulence'. Ian Gillan doing some kind of rock with fusion. Perfect!
@@ElverGobbi as a nwobhm teen the Gillan we all knew better was the abrasive neo retro futurist mad maxian speed tyrant. I considered the early LPs' covers and said "cool" but thought that the music would be colosseum II only slower. I now wonder whether this child in time was sadly & badly misguided?
Yay for The Sound, a band I first heard of in your comment section a while back. Excellent album.

That Flaming Lips album is Banging!

listen to Windir! It's a band with a very unique sound, definitely a unique experience
Hoping for some more King Gizzard in 2025. If you want an album that provides a sampler of all their different sounds, go with Omnium Gatherum.
Yoshimi!
I know nobody will say this But please react to More of The Fall when you can Justin theyre a great band. I will say The Sound album is phenomenal.

The Tubes - Remote Control 1979
Jane's Addiction would have been nice, but then the earth isn't square. The Incredible String Band? As much chance of a lottery win!
I'd love to hear Líquid Acrobats. Despite ISB being not new to JP channel

Cool. Gnidlorog is worth it.
Picking something because it caught your eye is OK by me. After all, discovering new music is a journey that is best shared.
