I have only read his Harry Hole novels unfortunately. I have heard good comments about Macbeth though. But Redbreast (Harry Hole book 3) is a great place to start the series.

If you had your druthers, would you prefer all books have a Greek version, or do you reckon the translations would to lose something?
I would rather read the original. If I don't know the language I go for a translation for a language I know
