    That fireman's definitely got a dirty job. Even Mike Rowe, the host of Dirty Jobs, would do that job if it were requested. I'm looking forward to riding on my first steam train, which I used to call a pufferbelly, because they always puffed from the belly of the locomotive, which was where you fed it the food, coal. Then, at water stations, you'd fill her belly with her drink, an ice cold drink of pure water for her water tender and her steam production.

    I remember my first train ride on that exact train when I was little. What ever happened to Dirk? He was one of the engineers.

    @Michael321990 It Depends on the time of Year. At Christmas, they run after dark, And a Few weeks in the Summer (Mabey) But, Other than that; Last train Runs at 5-6

    @Michael321990 I Don't Understand what you mean by "Night time Tours" But The 2 or 3 car are good Vantage Points, but It Is Loud, and you can't get both sides in one trip

    How does one become an engineer at Dollywood?

  • @charlesdell2864
    @charlesdell2864 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    How many steam trains does Dollywood have, and what is the distance for a trip through Dollywood, and how much coal is consumed per trip.

    • @dollywoodrailfan
      @dollywoodrailfan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the trip is 5 miles and and a average of 3-7 tons of coal per day so i guess about 1/2 ton per trip

    Is that the original whistle? If not, then where is it from. It's beautiful.

    • @288jh
      @288jh  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      trevor overholt No. This Hancock belongs to Dollywood. There is a High Pressure that belongs to another engineer.
      It was on 70 so much, because John was the main engineer and He kept it on the engine.

    make the young kid shovel the coal. kids these days have no respect for thier elders. if he wouldn't, ki k him off the train.

    • @KLTrainz
      @KLTrainz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They probably alternate on runs. And if not, it's all in who is scheduled to run and who is scheduled to fire.

    • @JaiahHazelnutBrown
      @JaiahHazelnutBrown 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The young kid was the qualified engineer. The fireman was a recent hire.

      AZRAEL 444 engineer is a promoted position. The "young kid" obviously had seniority on the older guy.

      Sometimes, the elders like to fire as well. My dad is 60 years old and he still prefers to fire a trip or two when we're on together.
