I don't know if you're aware Sam but 911 HUL is a classic Porsche number plate, they've been putting it on Turbos since at least the 80's. It's like an iconic plate for us slightly older petrol heads. Very cool.
Never mind the car itself, that 911HUL numberplate is iconic. Porche have put that plate on their press cars for years, it's featured on some Iconic posters and magazine covers, you should be proud to bare it Sam.
A lot of people here seem excited about "living the dream" with nice cars. Only few realize how lucky Sam is to have a woman in his life who supports this hobby - and to the extent, she goes on long trips like this. Lucky bastard Sam! :)
Eh, not really. Most folks would drop anything to take this trip. And Sam's girl makes it an awkward deal by not really participating in the vids past a few odd comments. I agree that Sam is fortunate though; the 911 Turbo has nice hips that are hard to miss.
@hntr177 Those claims are completely unsubstantiated. You literally know nothing about her, so how do you know?. Status and lifestyle are secondary to sharing your life with nice people. Also, I did not mean to cause a debate about this. It is a car channel anyways. :)
Not even half a million on this channel!? This is one of the ABSOLUTE best car vlogs in existence. This is the single best 'trip' ever taken by way of car vloging.
I have to say that this series is the most polished and professional one that I have seen on TH-cam. The bar has been lifted for other creators to follow. Congrats Sam. Bloody marvellous! Helps that you rated New Zealand tops of course. Us Kiwis totally concur.. Cheers
I subscribed to your channel because of this video. I’ve watched your videos occasionally for years but have never committed to that red button. Road tripping across Europe in a turbo s... that’s on my ambitious bucket list. Glad that I can live vicariously through you while you actually do it.
@@MagikkMaan Have you even been there? Sicilians are very chill and not crazy at all. If anything, Naples is way more "chaos" and a much more stressful environment to drive in.
Parts of the old track are in a very bad shape due to land slides south of Cerda. The hills are like muddy ground and time has done its job. I guess the mafia does not earn as well from the country roads as from the main motorways where there are quite a number forever roadworks.
@@MagikkMaan lmao. i'm Italian, don't live there but i've been plenty of times. I've visited more than 60 countries... if you think Sicily is crazy you haven't seen shit.
Such a great thing you’re doing, sharing your road trip around the world is so much fun. Awesome videos my friend and very happy for you living your dream! 👍🏻
Excellent start to the Euro leg. Lovely 911 Porsche UK have loaned you. Hats off to them. Great mix of content too. However as a Porsche owner and new Porsche fan, you ought to get into WEC where Porsche are really strong. Also, lots more happens in endurance racing than F1, which is definitely stagnating. Totally appreciate Vicki not wanting to appear on screen but her being with you adds a nice dimension to the adventure, it would be interesting to hear her views on the places you visit.
So impressed with the editing on this content!! I've not watched your channel for a while to be honest and came back because of the article on Life of Palos.. and totally gob smacked at how professional the content is.. really, really nice! Awesome Job! more people need to tune in, for sure!
My 4 year old grandson who is already a Porsche nutcase, maybe thanks to his Grandpa, thinks the Lava Orange / black combo is the best combo. Sam, he loved this video. To be honest, the picture of the Porsche he has that looks to be busting through the wall of his bedroom is a GT3RS - Lava Orange. That said, he's knows what side his bread is buttered on and says he loves my 981 Boxster S but preferred my 987.2 Cayman S.
Funny to see you drive that part of the Le Mans course in a Porsche 911, since I just watched the 1971 film Le Mans last week for the first time, starring Steve McQueen who also drove a Porsche 911 down that very road at the beginning of the film, if I'm not mistaken.
Yes can’t wait for this content! Jealous you are driving through some of my favourite places in Europe! If you haven’t already driven passed there I recommend making a detour through the Picos de Europa in northern Spain! 🤙🏻
Are you coming to Norway? :) I might be biased ;) but if you are to take a few days to do something in western Norway it would be amazing if you drive the Atlantic road, and even more so the valleys east of it. (Romsdal, Eikesdal, Sunndal). The best "local tip" I can give, is that by far the best time to go there is in the middle of spring. In about 2 months time. (Last half of May or early June.) At that time the waterfalls are about double in both size and numbers, the valleys are green and the peaks white
Sam, when you arrive in Portugal, after Porto, on the way to Lisbon (Lx the abbreviation), passes through the epic restaurant, Oxalá in Ovar, in front of the marina (it is a river marina) 25 minutes from the city of Porto. Savor a dish called "Sinfonia Marítima" - it's a mix of grilled fish with vegetables and sweet potatoes. It's epic!
I'm so behind on these so am catching up, but glad to see you managed to get to go on a bit of the track at Le Mans.. you have to pass through there on route to that side of France, it's the law for any Motorsport or car fan on your way through that part of France!
Really awesome stuff Sam ! your world tour is epic and has made me a big fan. If you end up in New York during your USA tour feel free to hit me up. I can arrange an enthusiast tour . We can caravan through the Taconic Parkway to historic Lime Rock race track. I also drove the same roads you most likely did in the North Islands of NZ . Coromandel, Roturua, etc...amazing drive indeed ! Cheers.
When you get close to Monaco you should try the road leading to the Col de la Bonette, highest road in Europe. It is closed but should reopen mid-May this year. This is near my place so let me know if you need other road tips.
Sam, Please do more of Lifestyle content. U travel to some really cool places, it would be great if we saw more of u thoughts, culture and other things about cities that u travel to. I luv the Service Station tours, but I hope there is more to Franc than that:) Big fan of ur content in general Sam!
joepublic200 I don’t think that’s curb rash. The white line on the upper left matches the reflection on the onside of the rim on the lower right. And the black marks breaking up the edge on the lower left are most likely just tire whiskers. Those Pirelli tires - the fronts specifically - actually have a lip that protrudes quite a bit wider than the actual wheel which helps shield it from minor curb scrapes. In theory that is - I never tested it on mine.
Sam!! Im from the UK and living in Granada, Spain. When pasing along the coast near Motril you've gotta come up for a homemade chicken masaala. My wife makes the best!! Then you can be on your way...
I feel like we're missing a lot of the travel portion of the vlog. Have you thought of launching a travel vlog or a separate playlist for people interested in the travel portion?
I wouldnt say that nothing happened during the AusGP... - Bottas takes dominant victory, followed by brilliant team radio - Kvyat makes an excellent return to F1 - Tight midfield battles - Promising stuff from Honda But if you are a ferrari fan, i can understand the frustration..... ;)

Extremely well spotted 👍
There's probably only a few of us that are 'nerdy enough' or shall I say 'old enough' to know/spot that lol 😉👌
It's amazing that they're lending him the car for such a long drive, then giving him the 992 to try! Jealous is an understatement!
Yes knew that
What's the story behind that?
Didn't read you comment till after I've put mine!

The woman from the gas station just said how much she liked the Turbo. 😁
The first time we see Vicky was a close up of her arse getting out the car, lol. I bet she is thrilled 😆

Fantastic that Porsche is recognizing your content and affinity for the brand.
Safe and happy travels.
More daily vlogs pls Sam on the 2.0 drive the world
Agree, more driving videos too. I miss that. Guess I'm used to the youtuber roadtrips to Monaco, but still.

Curious to hear you about the average consumption of this turbo on long trip like this, thanks!
If my experience in a 996 Turbo is anything to go by, it'll be low twenties
