Many thanks for the idea. I do have a tip of my own in return. While it is completely true the Japan Hobby Tool rubber can flex when applying pressure, making it problematic at first sight. There is a simple solution: inside the rubber ring you are using, put in the other smaller ones that fit inside. They will not interfere with the outer most rubber being used, and will provide support to prevent it from bending hopelessly when strong pressure is applied. Cheers!

hmm the gray ones are quite slippery. I have not have had any luck with them. They don't grip on the name rings

it sucks when you have a lens with a 95mm outer diameter, anyone know what to do when you have a bigger size?

Have you used these on newer models. Mine is a Tamron 28-200 and Samyang 85 1.4 AF. My main concern is if the weather sealing and lens centering arrangement is affected or not. or if maintaining the lens performance is achievable with such tools or not.

Hello friend! I only used these on vintage lenses so far which lack weather sealing. Centering lenses during reassembly is easier if you keep lenses in a combined block and not separate individual lenses. Results vary according to experience. Of course it is better not to take a lens apart , but if it is necessary because of degraded performance and needs fixing, you may try. Good luck!

@@CoutoCameraCompany thanks a lot, much appreciated.!. If you know any online resource which has good info on newer lens repair then it would be helpful.
My front lens element (or the one just beneath it) has small fungus growth that I need to remove. I guess Ill have to test it with a sharpness chart before and after repair. I was about to send my lens to the company, but it doesn't cover fungus growth under warranty and the seller advised me not to send it as they may not reassemble it correctly here.

@@anulearntech some newer lenses the nameplate doesn't even unscrew, it could be just glued in. I wish I knew a bit more about it but I am a "old school vintage" guy...

I have the exact same lens (Tamron 28-200 Sony FE) and have dust inside the lens group. Did you manage to remove the lens cap with this tool yet?

Absolute nonsense, those grey ones are for supporting Lens glass for cleaning and they are too slippy to use for removing lens rings etc, if they are already loose they'll work but have no grip whatsoever....Wrong tool for the wrong job.. The Black ones are sticky for a reason.
