    Wow, really impressive. Tracking is incredible and this seems like a genious application of the technology.

    This looks too good to be real o_0
    There's almost no latency, everything sticks to the hand and doesn't jump around, and it just looks so perfect!

      AR is pretty garbo
      Has increasingly limited applications, seeing as how public interest is hovering in at about zero

      u can do the same in vr blog.leapmotion.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/arm-hud-widget2.gif
      and u can do ar with a vr headset th-cam.com/video/KYzJxU9n5Jg/w-d-xo.html
      and if u cover up an ar headset or if the tracking works in the dark u get a crappy vr headset
      and u can have sunglasses vr displays capable of great ar pass through (in the future) -->lightfield-forum.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/nvidia-near-eye-light-field-displays.jpg
      ar vs vr is a false dichotomy ....they r both tracked hmds giving u spatial interaction with digital objects .....and a headset doing it all is inevitable

    • @pumpuppthevolume
      @pumpuppthevolume 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Billy Bob did u see the the link with the nvidia demo..... it will be sunglasses from factor and with the light field display and good light field camera setup the light that will get to your eye will be more or less the same light that will get in your eye without glasses
      there r some problems with this but nothing impossible
      and u can always take them off to look at the world just like with any glasses including transparent hmds

    I'm a big fan of Leap Motion since the beginning in 2010. I can't wait to get my hands in those open source files and CAD designs of this AR headset to start experimenting with AR!!! 😀
    I'm planning to use the ZED Mini camera with this headset to make a full AR headset like Meta 2 and I want to use my Google Tango phone to make an untether headset like Hololens.
    I think this is going to be the boom in AR. I can't wait to see the hacks that people come with this!!!

    Hello leap motion I just bought my first leap motion for developing for vr and ar I plan in buying a beginner level 3d printer to start making my own so I can get on this technology what I would like to know is where can we source the electronics as my electronics skills are zero thanks to anyone who answers with links I'm in two minds whether to buy a rift and gfx card or the printer and display driver I'm leaning on rift cuz other than real world augmentation I'm assuming the ORION BETA SDK is the one stop shop cuz if so rift will give me the ability now to start building for the northstar and hopefully leap motions officially released project northstar commercial units

    Hi, I wanted to know whether a camera like the t265 is required for the North Star to be functioning? Or can I also have AR experience without it?

  • @ignis1577

      I think they're using a hidden/invisible version of the tracked hand, since they know where the virtual objects are relative to the hand, they use the hidden hand to occlude the virtual object, just a hypothesis.

      anEnigma That's right!

    • @NivekJump
      @NivekJump 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess it's basically Occlusion Culling, and they place the hands(And arms I guess) in the 3D environment (Logical for the machine, a 3D Space, just like in video games) since they know where the hands are(Like really accurate just like another 3D model) they can apply OC to the other objects.
      It's really Impressive.

    As an industry outsider, I’m 100% in. Just, wow. I’m at a loss for words at how amazingly cool this is.
    This is even more impressive to me than the first time I saw what Palmer lucky and his team at oculus were doing back in the first half of the decade (and that’s saying something since I love VR).
