    That No 1 was your FIRST engine? Lovely work! No wonder you're capable of building the 9F! I model engineer too - it took me ages to get going because I lived in a rented house share and had no workshop but now I do, like you, I'd recommend it to anyone as a pastime. Keep up the good work!

    Very impressive set up. Neat and tidy! I like how you have the drawings pinned up on the wall.

    Ah yes Leeds, i remember once giving a despatch rider a lift home after he broke down in London. As the afternoon drew on he looked at his wstch and apologised that we would hit the centre of town in the rush hour. Shortly after we had to stop at some lights and there were four cars ahead of us and he said pointing to them"i told you we would hit the rush hour!"

    A pleasure to see your set up and all rhe models. My incentive to ME was the London exhibition where Bill Carter had his %"" G atlantic on display I spent hours talking to him and I was hooked.

    Hi, I'm slowly getting through your excellent slides of the 9F, your work is superb and a real inspiration to model engineers. I have just completed your Stuarts baby brother a 10v and want to move onto bigger things, maybe a locomotive, maybe a traction engine. How long have you been at it, and do you belong to any clubs or societies? where do you go if you need advice? Thank you for sharing your time on here.

    • @no23mk2
      @no23mk2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Mark. I have been doing this hobby since 2014 where I started with a Stuart No1. Join your local model engineering society. Great source of advice. I was a member of a model engineering society but unfortunately I never had time to attend. I also found you tube an excellent source of information and skills learning.

    A 9F was a pretty brave choice but it look's beautifull!. Lack of space is a common frustration. I restore old bikes in a very limited work space while some of the double garages around here are choked with junk and useless.

    • @no23mk2

      Thank you Doctor. 9F was my favourite loco from childhood so 9F it had to be. Bravery had nowt to do with. More like jump in and hope for the best!

      Near me in Solihull there's a live steam club with outdoor running lines which I'd like to visit for a chat and a closer look. I really admire the knowledge and skills involved in biulding these complex, beautiful mashines.

    I'm envious, having all those machines, it has been many years ago since I used those machines. But it seems you don't have any casting equipment? So casting is probably out of reach?

    • @no23mk2
      @no23mk2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Yes - one day I would like to have a go at casting - out of sight at the moment though!

    how did you haul all the heavy machines to place?

    • @no23mk2

      All but the mill was a two man lift so not too difficult. The mill was manoeuvred into place with a pallet truck.

    I was a chimney sweep.
    And I sweped. His chimney for 10 years. He was engendered on a ship. I never met him. But he made steem engines. Every time I went there. I would look. And say wow. Amazing. 20 or more steem engines. And some train's. I mean steem train's amazing. How can you he that? I asked his.
    wife? But a friend she told me. Wanted to borrow a tool.
    And where is it? He replied ok yes is ok. It was a very small tool. Top shelf 3rd from the left. And that's egsaktly where it was. M
