I like this idea of an RPG-type challenge. It's a challenge that not a lot of people have thought out before and it would be fun to try it for myself. To add to the fun (or the challenge if you prefer), these are my ideas for some extra traits: Petrified - Cannot move or look away if looking at the ghost (including during hunts) Brave - Cannot use a holdable light source (can still use building lights depending on other traits) Perfectionist - Cannot leave the mission unless everything is done perfectly (all possible objectives, bone, photos, etc.) Caveman - Cannot use or operate electronic equipment (This also includes building lights and the breaker) Tinkerer - Can only use electronic equipment (no writing book, smudge, crucifix, pills, etc.) Speedrunner - Leave the mission the second you know the ghost (regardless of objectives, photos, bone, etc.) Crammer - Can only spend a certain amount of time in the mission (at most 5-10 minutes depending on the map) Gambler - Only use the evidence tools used to discover a randomly selected ghost type Frugal - Must only bring the starter equipment Photographer - Must hold a photo camera at all times Packer - Must bring back all the equipment at the end of the mission Disposable - Must throw away any equipment once they are used for their purpose (eg. throw away EMF if you get EMF 5)
pretty interesting concept, I thought you were gonna play with 3 other friends though, and everybody had to play as one of the characters and use the rules? Still pretty interesting to watch, and highlights how terrifying this would be IRL
I guess that this can be played in multiplayer if you increase the cost of each map to unlock for each extra player and start with 1 trait and gain 1 extra trait each mission for each 2 players, rounded up in order to keep the difficult. For example, if you start with 3-4 players, each player starts with 2 traits and get 2 for each succeded mission, to unlock edgefield you'll need $1000 and Highschool costs $2000, asylum will cost $4000. If 2 players remains alive during the campaign, they will gain only 1 trait per mission instead of 2 per mission, however Highschool still costing $2000, and asylum the same $4000. I guess that this could be played, and would be very interesting, since teamwork would be the key to win this.
Me and my friends played Phasmo just with this traits, it was real fun! Made it much more interesting - and it's hilarious how hunts start and someone far away is just flushing lmao
I know it's a longshot. But is there any way you could maybe assemble a squad of four players for this series and you get to be sort of the 'captain' of the team? I think that would maybe make a great version of this as well?
Deafened trait is by far the scariest seeing as how he (She) found the ghost room at the beginning of the mission... Sound is really important is Phasmophobia

Yo nuzzgard, i made up some traits that you might consider using it. 1. Concussed - Invert your mouse. 2.High on drugs - max out your mouse sensivity. 3.Drunk - Bind your WASD keys to ASDW (as long as its randomized) 4.Brave - Can't hide during hunts
The toilet thing is funny, it reminds me of work. If there is a bathroom available you will probably see a pilot enter it immediately before their flight regardless of when they last went. I think having to go to the toilet and being trapped in the cockpit is something of a communal nightmare of ours regardless of were we work.
Some of the Traits I came up with for my version of this. Salty: Must bring all available Salt and get at least 1 footstep (photo/UV optional) Noisy: Before mission end, detect a Ghost's footsteps with the Parabolic during a hunt Kleptomaniac: Every time you go leave a building, you have to steal at least 1 item and bring it to the truck Masochist: Must stay inside for at least one hunt Runner: Must stay inside for at least one hunt, while running away from the Ghost (Similar to Escape the Ghost objective) OCD: Must flick a lightswitch on-and-off 6 to 7 times (depending on wanting it on or off) upon entering a room with switches. Breaker does not need to be on. Giggle At The Ghostie/Childlike: Before mission end, place all available plushies in the Ghost Room and get a giggle Altar: Before mission end, place all available candles in the Ghost Room and light them Tinnitus: Can't use EMF Reader Glitch: Can't use stationary building cameras Objectophile: Always carry an item from inside the house with you Moonwalker: Walk backwards only Paralyzed: When a Hunt starts, stand still for 3-5 (player pref upon gaining trait) seconds before moving again Amish: The breaker stays off. If the ghost turns it on, turn it off asap. Photo Finish: Before mission end, take a Ghost Photo Radio Silence: Can't use in-game walkie-talkie Broken: Can't use Thermometer Emotional Support: You must carry a Tripod with you at all times
Okay. This gamemode is fun as hell. I played an entire game with a few minor alterations of the rules: Characters have a 60% chance to have no flaw, 30% chance to have one, and 10% chance to have two. I ended up with one character with none, two with one, and one with two. I also decided that Chilly means you cannot hide in freezing rooms and you have to walk in them instead of sprinting, that any flaws that could potentially work together do (Mute combined with Inquisitive means you can ONLY ask the ouija board a single question), and that the Inquisitive flaw requires you to stay with the board for the entire first answer (which must be to the question "Where are you?" to prevent cheesing it with "How many did you kill?"). I split Oversized into Overweight and Obese (first only stops lockers, second stops both lockers and closets). Finally, I decided that any character who reaches a total of 8 flaws is retired (they're too insane to continue), and that any character who fails the final Asylum hunt by getting the ghost wrong is fired and instantly kicked from the team. One of my characters started with Reckless. Instantly got Chatterbox on him, so couldn't use him on small maps. Had one character who hit the max of 8 flaws and was forcibly retired. And had one character who only picked up Atheist and Overweight who I saved for the final Asylum run (where I got a revenant in a bathroom who loved to wander into the hallway and confused me for a bit), but I got it right and won. One suggestion I would make is that you add a rule that flaws are unique and can't be duplicated amongst multiple team members. I had two Paranoids and three Impulsives, and it felt like there wasn't enough uniqueness among the characters.
The dread I feel when the trait wheel spins is palpable. It's like a Darkest Dungeon/Phasmophobia crossover. Only there are no positive traits. Except Young at Heart, which I would argue is too wholesome to be negative

I think Weak Bladder would work better on a timer. Instead of having to pee everytime you pass a bathroom, put on a 5 or 10 minute timer. When the timer goes off, you have to go to the bathroom regardless of any other factors. Make it more realistic and less of an obstruction to a successful run. Also, if you plan on doing a session with multiple players, mute might be a good trait idea (making it so that a mute player can never talk).
I love that episode!!! It´s terrifying to gather negative traits which make you as player do something the normal game would not contain. That is a brilliant and creative way to play Phasmophobia ♥

The negative traits have to be something controllable by him, that he can manipulate. So he can't really do any negative traits linked to modifying game code - the closest one would be Inquisitive, for now, because 1 failure and a dark Mare's room, a Demon and a Banshee can hunt you, 2 failures and everyone can hunt you.
Just by looking at the traits, I’d say that chatterbox will most likely die first. It’s kinda a terrible trait. The rest are at least somewhat manageable.

This is a great idea. Enjoying it. If you were on every hunt watching from the van while each character was someone else. Maybe your girlfriend and some other guys you play with a lot it would be great fun too.
You know what... Something like Deep Rock Galactic's deep dives could REALLY work in Phasmophobia, high risk high reward longplays in which resources are supposed to be scarce, with some rogue lite mechanics .
