Are there separate videos available for the Jumping and Agility Rounds of this competition? I can't find them, or the Agility Round of the Intermediate/Large Championship, on your channel :( .
I already knew who won the small because the trainer co-developed my dog's training program that we follow (absoluteDogs), but I didn't know it was so close! And the later ones...great way to g eat my heart rate going without having to move 😂
There really are faster dogs but you need smart as smart can be to teach them all that. So you go for smart and clean rounds or instinctive and faulty rounds. 🥴 It's a dog's world I used to show Staffords and one day he saw an empty Coke bottle from afar. Forget the show and 100s hours trainin, I fell on my stomach and he pulled me straight across that manicured grass and my blouse came off. Instinctive fantastic dog. I was too embarrassed to go back.
They are bred to run full out, do sharp turn-backs/corners, and slam on the brakes, all while calculating everything around themselves. Also very light on their feet, without heavy bone. I think a lot of it honestly comes back to being bred to pay attention to where multiple things are, while also keeping track of where the handler is in the distance. That's sheepdog herding in a nutshell. But with agility, the things they need to pay attention to are standing still (the obstacles). I think it just comes naturally to them. They are driven in a way most other breeds are not. Speed and concentration are what BC's *do*. Check out their intensity at the starting line, they are either staring their handlers down or prancing in place. Most other breeds just sit and wait.
@@SilverFlame819 you are absolutely spot on there! 100% agree with you, it’s seems to me that “in general” border collies are just a step ahead of every other dog out there. Well I have seen them as puppy’s trying to heard sheep which says it all 🧠👌🏼 you would agree they are the ultimate breed.
In addition to what everyone else has said, a lot of border collie owner tend to participate in dog agility whereas owners of other large breeders tend not to. For example german shepherd owners tend to favor IGP, labrador retrievers hunting, etc... It's not that other breeds aren't as good in agility as the border collies, just that their owners tend to favor that sport compared to owners with other breeds. (when they want to compete at high levels)
@@zelina6595 well said. So I saw the Mastiff taking a stroll on the agility and I thought yeah laugh all you want. When there's prey of sorts one night and you have BC and Mastiff the Border Collie won't touch Mastiff's heals??

Why is always the border collies that are best at agility ?
