I did NOT know it was a thanksgiving song, but that actually makes sense since there’s no mention of Christmas anywhere. That makes it all the more interesting that it’s consider one of - if not THE - first secular Christmas songs ever written. People must have been really keen to plant that flag to use a Thanksgiving song and it’s not like the dates of Jingle Bells is SUPER far away from Up On The Housetop! All that said, Jingle Bells and Joy to the World are prime examples of what you can do with just a C Maj scale and make it sound super impressive! Thank you for the kind words!
