Great job with the videos. I believe also that Barclay Center’s site was also where the ole Brooklyn Dodgers Domed stadium was supposed to be prior to moving to Los Angeles. The late owner Walter o’Malley was pushing this proposal which would have been at least a good 10 years before the Houston Astrodome.
It wasn't enough to have one billion-dollar, one-sport-only arena in New York; they decided it was necessary to build a second billion-dollar arena (UBS Arena) just for the Islanders. Meanwhile, the Knicks and Rangers (and their fans) are perfectly happy with the 55 year old Madison Square Garden.
Madison square garden has also been heavily renovated, but your point is correct. Madison square garden is perfectly located because it is built on top of the old Penn station. A great arena with a great location should last a city at least four decades
It put the original developer who purchased the team in receivership. They ended up selling other real estate assets to keep the project afloat until they could sell majority stakes in both arena and team to outside parties. 🤠
Barclays Center IMO is the worst of the NHL/NBA arenas in the area. It has little character and is very drab on the inside. UBS Arena and MSG blow it out of the water
I’ve been their for concerts, hockey and wrestling and the event day experience is highly under whelming. The concourse so dark (painting everything black might not have been the way to go). After you enter the building it’s like walking into a cave. The place has no charm or personality. It will never be like MSG. Also the new UBS Arena is so much nicer and has so much more life to it. Also roof only looked that green for like a short time. It looks like crap most of the time.
The Barclays center is the worst place ever to watch hockey at any level. So I won Islanders game. They’re back in 2016 and the sightlines for hockey are terrible there.
They are fairly common elsewhere in the world, but I'm not sure if that's on this scale or not. I guess we'll find out, I think it's a cool feature so I hope that it works well
I've been there 3 times (all three against the Celtics... go Celtics, lol) and as a stadium/arena fanatic I'm not a fan of the interior design, at all. They could've done so much better. I understand it was design for basketball first but I think they butchered it.
@@shaunconley208 MSG is a better building for concerts, sound quality can't be beat there, but it's still a good building as long as you are in the lower levels. I've also been to a couple of RAWs and the last Summerslam, crowd brings it, it's a blast.
Not a bad seat in the house? Yeah, no that place has many bad seats in the house. Paid to see a live event and had to watch the scoreboard the whole game.
Madison Square Garden is still a better arena in that area. As well as the new UBS Arena. Barclays Center isn't that nice to be honest. And the staff there aren't the nicest. I've seen many events at Barclays Center.
After leaving the IZOD center, the Nets shared the Prudential Center with the New Jersey Devils for a short time before moving to the Barclays Center.
I wish the Nets still played there, the Prudential Center is an amazing arena
@@rtlthemusician5598why would they play in newark

You'd be correct, the plaque on the flag pole says all of this.

MSG is a lot older than that, or do you mean the history of those teams is 55 years?
You’d have an aneurism in England few stadiums per major city LOL
@@JerseyJeff84 the actual current building was built in 1967…there were other actual buildings CALLED Madison Square Garden
UBS Arena is in Nassau County, not NYC proper. That location is much better for the Islanders than Brooklyn.
Boxing, Disney on ice, Barclays is a staple in Brooklyn for our families
You always make these cool little short films !! .. Your next one should be about Auto Club Speedway and the renovation .. Keep up the good work !! ..
yeah he should
I'd really like to see another Video on that green Roof, very interesting. Thank You for the post.
The New York Liberty WNBA team is playing at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York
I've been inside that arena, but for an NXT Takeover wrestling event back in 2019.
Beautiful arena
It put the original developer who purchased the team in receivership.
They ended up selling other real estate assets to keep the project afloat until they could sell majority stakes in both arena and team to outside parties. 🤠
All that money spent and yet the interior has the most " meh " design I've ever seen for any stadium/arena, at best.
Probably just where us, the common folks, dwell.
You're right. I went there years ago for a Nets-Celtics game. From the outside it looks amazing. Inside, it seems so corporate and bland.
homie forgot chase center💀
Intuit Dome
@@rspister almost forgot about my home city teams new arena
@@FrancHoopsandBlox Werd
That should be standard contract language on all of these stadiums. Like marriage vows, "...regardless of costs, for better or worse." lol
The new Intuit Dome for the clippers is 2 Billion dollars.
I think you forgot something about the Barclays Center. It was also included as part of New York City's failed Olympics bid in 2012.
Technically not a single sport arena as Boxing matches are frequently hosted there

Yeah, they are great to fall asleep.

I went there for my Community College's graduation
The Barclays Center: The house that Jay Hova built!!!
What greed distracts us from our true life over entertainment?🎶
Chase Center was more expensive...
🤔🤔🤔
That inc multiple buildings in surrounding development
Chase center and surrounding 2 office towers were $2.1 billion+
Wait u never said the cost of the arena!
My hometown building, great food, and not a bad seat in the house.
Just not for hockey. How is it for concerts or other events?

It’s a haven for homeless people now

I concur.
I prefer MSG and pru center
Looks terrible.
I think they call is art … I don’t like it either.
All that for a team that nobody in New York cares about
A toledo video would be neat
