I’ve been vegetarian since the 1990’s(not vegan) but my husband is a hunter and I’m totally ok with it and apparently I prepare venison extremely well. If it’s done ethically I think it’s way better than the industrial meat

Here in Kansas. We have a problem with a lot of deer too, and it's gotten really dangerous in some areas.

@@Victorianlady I loved!!!! This book. Very easy to read and it felt like you were transported back in time. When you read the story it was almost as if you were just there as a passerby in someone’s life. I love when you can read a book and feel like it can be real and just a regular average Joe experience one your grandmother would tell you about how she met your grandfather. I didn’t want it to end.
This is the review I left on Amazon and Goodreads for you and I meant every word. I look forward to purchasing more of your work and I truly hope that more people find and love your books as much as I do. Thank you for writing these pieces.

Here in Chariton IA we had a deer charge his reflection in a storefront window and run to the back of the building then break out the back window as well, leaving blood on the newly renovated walls and carpet. We have Fox, opossums, raccoons and a very chubby rabbit destroyed my watermelon plants early one morning last spring. Everyone I know has had car damage due to deer in the roads. I believe you that they multiply quickly! Many people hunt here and there are limits of how many deer they can hunt.

Makes you wonder how many hunters have transitioned to or are learning archery to take down deer and save on their groceries without alerting their neighbors or the government. Obviously, not enough if the deer are so prevalent. Don't get me wrong, I love the grace and elegance of deer, but if an animal species becomes a local danger or has detrimental affects through overpopulation, it needs to be curbed. Better to become a common grocery option than to introduce predators in a highly populated area where people could lose their working animals ("barn" cats and Live Stock Guardian Dogs) or their pets to introduced predators because the larger, fleetfooted deer are harder to take down.

Deer are also a problem in Colorado. I also recently was surprised by 7 fat wild turkeys in my front yard at 7am. They were just doing turkey things. I was able to walk up to them very close and just about grab one. I took a few photos too.

In Finland we have too much of white-tailed deers. We do hunt them, but not enough.
The species itself is not a local species, but was a gift from Canada in the 1930s-1940s.
I have lived in the municipality of Vesilahti, where the deer were originally introduced.
And there are two kinds of Vesilahti people. Those who have had a deer accident and those who have not.

I can remember back in the 60's and 70's my dad putting his name in a lottery to be able to be one of the few who could go deer hunting here in Kentucky. Now, no need for the lottery chance to hunt them, just wait till it's deer season! Funny thing though, they are everywhere here except during deer hunting season. It's like they know what time of the year it is and they go into hiding 😉

I live 8 miles from the Kansas City airport, and I work till 1am. If I travel a certain way home and drive slower once a month, I will see 10 deer. Deer is mostly nocturnal in my neighborhood.

Humanity has grown to 8 billion, that requires a bigger living place and materials such as wood, which I guess means less forest, less nature.....
