I totally agree with you, todays "acts "have nothing in comparison to PeterCook ,Morcombe & Wise,Ken Dodd ,Tommy Cooper,Benny Hill,Dave Allen etc etc etc etc
I don't know. After all, we have geniuses like Nish Kumar. How I laughed when he was pelted with bread rolls, having completely misread the audience. Hilarious!
Brilliant! These characterizations were amongst the best work that Peter Cook ever did. Like all comedians, he was obviously a keen, and somewhat bemused, observer of human behaviour!
I remember watching this as a teenager, back in 1993. James Beauchamp was the funniest of the 4 characters, my second favourite is the football manager.
Thank you so much......the silly sod had been spelling his own name wrong all those years, and his father and his grandfather for that matter....."Don't waste a second, take Beuchamp Powders eh" 😂😂😂
He was always saying stuff like 'Moving on now' and drumming on the desk, as if he couldn't wait to get home. Never a primetime draw, he was good enough to stooge for Cook, but his superficiality and self-regard as an interviewer anticipated today's vacuous Kimmels and Olivers. Anderson should have stuck to writing for more charismatic figures.
Wow, don't hold back esmee, when The Beegees walked out on his show they should have battered him first for calling them tossers first. He now hosts a talk show on the radio and he's still a patronising git.@@esmeephillips5888
@@philfletcher3434 Yes, and all he did was feebly try to cap a funny story THEY told about being billed as Les Tosseurs. It exposed him as suffering from the latter-day disease of talk show hosts: thinking he was bigger than his guests, unwilling to let them hold the stage, blurting out a plea for the last laugh. Parkinson, Cavett and Carson did not make such a mistake. Anderson may be remembered for little more than that gaffe.
Absolutely superb. Compared to 99% of the 'alleged' comedians on the TV these days Cook was in a completely different class.

'Todays' acts are sub-humanoid . . .. a disgrace ... !!!!
They're utter dribble nowadays!

The greatest comedian who ever drew breath
Agreed
Connolly is funnier
@@johncarroll772 I disagree. I am a massive fan of the big yin aswell, but Cook, at his peak, is simply untouchable
@@johncarroll772 Even Billy Connolly said Cook was the funniest man he ever saw lol
Born into the establishment nothing but contempt for the establishment. God bless you MR COOK.

Anybody who says he pissed his talent away should watch this and apologise

The thing with Peter Cook is that if his career had been bigger, gone to Hollywood like Dudley Moore, he'd have lost this originality and sharpness.
His inventive and spontaneous wit was breathtaking!
It's about 60% script,40% improvisation, like all of the great mans work
Life was so good back then comedy gold! Best of the best
Thanks for this. Sir James is my favourite Peter Cook creation.
"She can serve drinks but not peanuts at the same time" 😂
She can serve drinks but not peanuts at the same time!😂😂😂😂
That bit got me too
It was that good I gasped
British satire at its best.
Peter Cook remains the king of doddering old buffers.
Absolutely brilliant
What a great man.
Sir James was a fine man. Flawed, was the canary in his mind.
A well respected Man.
.
Sir James Beauchamp is the GOAT, and in this particular skit, Anderson is the perfect foil!😁🤣💚
RIP Pete.
Brilliant
Comedy genius..
Genius
My wife is, as you know, slightly physically impaired
He was great
Thank you so much......the silly sod had been spelling his own name wrong all those years, and his father and his grandfather for that matter....."Don't waste a second, take Beuchamp Powders eh" 😂😂😂
Hilarious to watch 😂
Just no one to compare
Hilarious
Sorry to be pedantic but Beecham is spelt Beauchamp.
If you didn't know......
Cliver Anderson - Peter Cook setup interviews 3. I wasn't aware Peter cook had been seminally threatened to like zsa zsa gabor...
I've never liked Clive Anderson or understood his appeal.

A brilliant conclusion Esmee.@@esmeephillips5888
It would be absolutely glorious without the laughter
this show was recorded in front of a live audience…..derrrrrr
Genius
