I love how Thai elite fighters have the playful sparring session, why the Dutch kickboxing sparring session is like a war.

That's gaining combat experience. The Thai fighters often have 150+ to 300+ fights. The Dutch gain that experience in the gym. But you're right. Also love this Thai style.

Because that’s not how they spar all the time. 1st, hard sparring exist in Thailand, just because you don’t see a video it doesn’t mean it’s not true. Second, why they would need to spar hard if they fight often? The more advanced you are the less you need that, because you familiar with the intensity of a fight. Hard sparring is just another tool in the box of a coach, do not believe even for a second there is an ideal way to spar. It’s just internet narrative.

@@IvanM272 and your second point is exactly what I say.😜 Here in the Netherlands there are not that many fights and certainly not from 6/7 years old.

In Thailand, we are trained to hit hard on the pad and the bag. Only 70-80% max on sparring. I also think ego plays a role in the differences between muaythai sparring in Thailand vs. outside (regardless of MT or kickboxing). I also witnessed the first-time foreigner do the hard sparring to the trainer. Of course, the rule of hit as hard as you want to be hit is to take the immediate effect. I think the playful sparring does some tricks, especially as it is the way to minimize ego during the sparring session. You only play with your friends. Being playful, it tones down the heat. When sparring with 70-80%, it forces you to focus on using g techniques and endurance (especially during the clinch sparring). You can tell right away that your techniques are better or worse than your opponent, and therefore, you know what to improve. The same goes for the clinch sparring, which needs a ton of endurance plus techniques. We learn from the sparring session, and it is not meant to be a session to beat up the lower skilled opponent. I guess that is my two cents from what I know.

@@TopicFightAre fighters like Muangthai, Saensiri and Pongsiri fighting at their best weighclass or are they fighting at their "walking weighclass" ?

Muangthai I think can fight at 61 kg, and they tsalked about him going down after his last loss. Pongsiri and Sansiri are too big now to go down to 61kg, they'd have to diet a lot in order to do so.@@8limbedwarriornakmuay504
