You're assuming facts not in evidence. Can there be an alternative explanation?
How about attorneys always tell their clients not to show any emotions?
How about he has a socially awkward personality... these people often feel an unusual amount of anxiety and discomfort ... especially in this situation...His emotional immaturity and awkwardness appeared evidenced by the jail house recordings.
You don't know and there was zero empirical evidence introduced into evidence b/c of Utah's laws re: mental health. I've worked with inmates for 25 years... I read ppl well as evidenced by my psychosocial evals lining up with psych test results.
I would challenge the constitutionality of Utah's law... that evidence should have been submitted into evidence so if there were jurors like you, they would have empirical evidence to go off... instead your statement creates the appearance that you are either projecting, have perceptual errors or both...

@@denisebotko7456 Yes, it may be true that defendants are told to show no emotion, but looking at pictures of dead bodies should at least elicit a grimace from anyone who isn't a robot. Yes, Chad may be socially awkward, but he showed plenty of emotion while grinning in Hawaii and doing the hula dance.
Also, we are not solely judging him based on courtroom appearance. We are also judging based on witness testimonies, which ARE in evidence. Killing your wife, trash talking her at her funeral, refusing to put your name on your wife's headstone, bringing your girlfriend to meet your kids the day after the funeral, and marrying said girlfriend 17 days after your wife's funeral while you know darn well children are buried in your yard is diabolical and shows NO remorse.

Two moments stood out to me - one was the Police officer trying not to cry when he was giving evidence about finding Tylee and JJ’s remains. The other was the defendant’s mother talking about Chubley and Hori’s disgraceful behaviour when they met for dinner at the Roadhouse, them talking about Hori’s daughter being dead already and no talk of her having a young son. If ever there was something that proved their conspiracy it was that to me.

Hi Nate! Watching your excellent coverage of this trial from the beginning & wonder why no one found a " paintball or mess from one" after Tammy was supposedly shot by one. There would be remnants of it around the cars. #2: why did lori tell people she's an empty nester to some & her daughter died years ago to others? Chad would have killed whoever he had to, to be with the skank Lori. He used others to do his dirty work. But his hatred for Tylee & JJ was over the top! He is so evil he hid them right under everyone's nose in his back yard. Sick!!!

The moment that struck a cord with me was Emma speaking with Chad after he was arrested. When she spoke of getting things done and having good luck telling people that her mom died, she chuckled. Anyone who can laugh when speaking of the death of their mother is not a person to be trusted. Her tears were for her Dad and she didn't seem to care about her mom or the children whose bodies were being uncovered.

I think what stands out to me the most is Emma's reactions. Her reaction with her dad when he was in the cop car and they were digging up the bodies, she was not surprised at all...why didn't she ask her dad what the hell was going on? And then her reaction when the autopsy results were in and the cop came to her work to tell her the results. Why didn't she want to know? She didn't even act surprised or didn't even flinch about why she would need victim support. She was straight face and stone cold. And remember when she said that she read all her dad's books? How old is she? He probably started writing these books when she was a little girl and has been growing up with this stuff. All of the kids have. They believe what their dad has taught them. I think the kids knew about all of the killings. Because their dad probably convinced them that they died during castings. She did say her dad was the head of the family. And then when he introduced Lori to the kids so quickly..he probably said the same story to his kids. That they were married in previous lives, that they belong together and their mission was to prepare the world the second coming. Which his kids fully believe if they were raised LDS. Chad probably told them they couldn't tell the truth because who in the world would believe that truth....about them all dying during castings. I think the only reasons for them lying is definitely for their Dad but not to keep him out of prison but you cover up what they think is the truth.
And then there's Alex, why did he go to Mexico? Do you remember Lori said she had a near death experience from medication when she was in the hospital having tylie. Maybe Alex went to Mexico to get some drug so he too can experience near death.. maybe he thought he'd see the kids on the other side and then come back and be able to talk to spirits. Chad and Lori probably convinced him to do it knowing full well he probably die And they wouldn't be around at all when it happened.
I really feel bad for how deceived Alex was. So deceived and tricked into murdering children. I seems to me he was a lost soul right out the gate. And Chad used that which I think is worse than doing the physical murders himself.

    1. Emma lying about googling wind directions.
    2. How dumb Garth looked when asked about Tammy's vehicle. He kept giving the same answer and Prior was obviously frustrated and trying to get Garth to testify to something else.
    3. Emma's husband on cross exam sounding hostile and then later admitting that he and his wife received money, a truck, and a place to live from dear old Chad.
    4. Chad introducing his kids to Lori the day after Tammy's funeral! He also took them on vacation to Knotts Berry Farm a week later! Sooo bizarre.
    5. Chad texting that he was sad but "not for the reasons everyone thinks."
    6. Emma on cross exam admitting that she didn't live with Tammy and didn't know when she went to bed. Lindsay Blake also made Emma read the life insurance form to the jury, which proved that the form was not signed at school and did indeed have Chad's name on it. That was a big checkmate for Lindsay Blake on Emma. Totally discredited her on cross exam, in my opinion.

I think Alex did the actual murders, but i believe at some point Chub Dingbell is the one who beat Tylee or whatever he did, with one of his tools, out of hatred & jealousy toward her. Larry wants to know why he did this; well he had them killed because of his lust for Lori, & the kids would have taken her attention away from him. What do you guys think?

I have to agree the most with Ronda. That footage of chad in the police car talking to Emma is so telling. If you were told that your new wife’s missing kids are dead in your backyard you would be shocked and denying you knew to your daughter. You would also tell her to get you a lawyer asap, but no what did Chad do, he transferred money and told Emma he won’t be coming back and to take the car and move into the house. I believe Emma also knew the kids were there because not once did she ask her dad what the hell was going on and why are there 2 dead kids in the back yard.

Chad showed some emotion when Detective Nathan Duncan was being interviewed about the murder of Charles Vallow, and reading the texts found on Vallow's phone and Zulema Pastenes' phone. There was a section after they played the 15 minute long patriarchal blessing (which Prior kept calling the Parochial Blessing). Prior was complaining about how long the blessing was, and there was some discussion about noises in the background (pages turning, a garage door opening), and Chad actually smiled and shrugged several times.
It made me think that he's someone who likes attention, especially close attention to his special projects. He's bored with talk about other people.

@Amelia, I didn't watch that part of the trial, but I do agree Chad loves attention. It struck me that one day when he said he disliked someone (it may have been Heather Daybell) because they didn't read any of his books. How strange! He expects all his friends and family to read his books. Later, Emma said she's read them all, which was very telling to me.

Lot of key moments but seeing that the only tactic the Defense had and allowed was his lying children capped it off for me. Better for Chad and Prior to plead out than allow and encourage his children to lie and disrespect their Mother. That is in their Book of Life forever. If CHAD and Lauri were doing that to children, it should been shouted from the mountaintop, so people can protect their children. Stay far and wide from somebody who walks around saying you have a dark or light level. Yes there is evil and good but darkness numbered and lightness numbered for you to be extra special no.

There are a few things that stand out for me Number one is the bodies of the children being buried on Chads property, for me there is no getting past that and number two is that amongst the lies that a few people have told, to me Emma stands out the most. There was no reaction from her when they were digging up human remains on her dad’s property and she just comes across as very odd. I don’t know how much she knew or whether she was actively involved but I believe she lied under oath about things. The not wanting to see her mother’s autopsy report doesn’t seem normal and there was no respect when talking about her mother. She just wanted to continue with the lies about her mother’s health. I still think her mother may have been tired etc because she was going through perimenopause, either that or as some have suggested she was being microdosed with something toxic that didn’t show up on the autopsy report. Then number three there is the constantly changing story of where Tammy was found and whether Garth found her or Chad and was or wasn’t Chad there. They have all seemed to have told different things to different people which wouldn’t happen if you were telling the truth. It all very convoluted and I doubt we will ever know the real truth other than Chad was spreading evil with his ridiculous beliefs and drew others in to his web of destruction

I have never seen a defense case work so overwhelmingly and completely in favor of the prosecution. It was stunning. I don't think Prior had much to work with, but he didn't help with his obnoxious behavior, either. All that said, I'm glad to say Prior did put up as effective a closing as was possible, I think, which was important to prevent appeals.

  • @sarabethleewilliams5610

Many things stand/stood out to me Lack of any concern/care/compassion of the Daybells for the victims (especially the two young children buried on family property) Chad saying he would not be coming back while in the police car and Emma not surprised when he hadn't even been formally charged yet. (makes me wonder if she already knew they were buried there). So many things but the key moment that took the cake for me was that guy telling Prior he owned the home so he ought to know how much land was there, lol. I have to say it was the best moment in the whole trial for me. With all the horrible things that have happened to innocent people/children etc.. all the stupid messages between Chad & Lori, all the insanity of them thinking they were gods and goddesses etc.. and the total lack of empathy for anyone other than themselves, I have to say the realtor was a joy to hear. Prior calling the death of Tammy a murder while trying to prove she died of natural causes came in second. Seems Prior has such an irritating personality that comments to him or coming from him seem to stand out most. His pretending he needed to be "educated" about things or making up narratives and putting them out there like things he was privy to irritated me so much. I was so grateful when L. Blake finally started objecting to his narratives since the jury may have well wondered if he knew things that others weren't saying. In my opinion that would have caused reasonable doubt in minds. (not in my mind since I have followed this case since before the children were ever found.) One telling thing that stood out also was when Lori said Alex couldn't do anything by himself. She was talking to him on the phone. I believe he never murdered anyone by himself. I think Lori helped him kill Joe Ryan and her children and I think Chad helped him kill Tammy. Unfortunately we will never know how any of the victims were killed but we know the reasons. Money, lust and power. Those exalted beings are behind bars now and I hope they stay there until they die. May all their visits be portal fantasies. May the Daybell children stop the madness and stop giving money to Chad in prison. I don't think Lori has anyone putting money on her account any longer but not sure. Since infamous weirdos attract followers they may both entice some idiots to start writing to them and giving them money but who knows. I could only wish them to both be without followers, money etc..

He said he was watching TH-cam videos or did I also hear he said he was playing video games? If he was watching TH-cam videos you could check his library on TH-cam. Everything you watch on TH-cam is tracked. Or if he was playing video games.. The home Wi-Fi would detect usage what time and what device. Everything is tracked. Has anybody verified what he was really doing between 1:00 and 3:00 in the morning?

Telling one's child from the back of a police patrol car they are not coming home is a clear admission of guilt. And for Chad's lack of emotion at trial, sociopaths don't have normal emotions. Just look at their mugshots, they portray nothing, and I'm not talking just Chad and Lori, all of them.

Even if he does get the DP, Idaho is very slow to execute those on death row. There are 8 inmates on death row, only 1 of them has been there less than 20 yrs. One has been on death row for nearly 50 years, the only female has been there for 31 years. So if he is given the death penalty, he will likely die of old age before he is put down. On death row, he will have his own cell, where e will be safe. If he gets life, then he is out with the general population where there just might be one person will put fear in his heart, fear for his life.
