Depends what you want out of the machine. If your an experienced rider I would say you will be bored quickly. If just cruise around than fine. Like my wife would have no issues but myself I would be bored with it.
I would say not to get a honda trx250 ex because i have one and it blows up about every month i say you should go with a canam ds 250 the canam ds 250 are pretty mean bikes
These are both good machines. Honda will last you forever if you just change the fluids and take care of it once a year. If you get the Honda he could learn to use a manual. Can’t go wrong with the can am though

I think the Honda is a little faster and probably a little more fun but if you're a beginner and don't want to shift and want the ease of an automatic transmission then the Can-Am is better they're both very well-built.
So im 13 and me and my 10 year old brother want this beast. Do you think it would be reliable for a rebuild with the exhaust. I head out to my friends property and ride a ton. Were looking for a 250. Any thoughts?
It's a pretty reliable machine. It's not really powerful so your 10-year-old brother could handle it fine. It is a tall bike though so if he's short he may have a hard time handling the size.
I know it’s quite a bit smaller but they look fairly big and the foot pegs look like they are the same on the CanAm DS90X, you could also give Apex ATV a call as they make and sell high performance smaller race quads, they might be able to sell you some nerf bars that fit.

A bigger front sprocket is going to take away from low end power and give you more top end speed If that's how you drive that's fine but these ATVs need more bottom end power for hill climbing and breaking the tires loose or bigger sprocket is going to have the negative effect on that. i put a smaller front sprocket made a huge difference.
Considering there are only 2 250cc sport quads left this and the Honda. I would say yes especially if you plan on keeping it. I wouldn't say its a bike for an adult with an appetite for speed though.
That's good information, it seems to be hit and miss for some reason because not everybody has the spacers in there mine did not as well as numerous others. Some do some don't but i notice most people that had it were 2018s.
@@OdysseyOffroad yea I just unscrewed the top of my carb and it was just a red plastic ring and I just cut it out with pliers. It increased the speed and acceleration a lot

You shouldve gotten the Polaris Pheonix 200, its almost 1 thousand cheaper and you get a good upgrade, you get bigger tires, shaft driven instead of a chain, bigger fuel tank, better shocks, better ground clearance, and a very beefy frame for like $700 cheaper. and the top speed is 40 too
@@weserviceyou What? ive never heard of that on those. some of them have a defect where the carb setting it too rich or too lean that may be the problem. you can get the problem fixed in 15 seconds.

They dont last make sure to always clean the front sprocket if mud clogs it or if it freezes the front sprocket guard will brake right off
I have the same one I removed the 3 screws at the end of the exhaust and removed the plate felt like it added some more power... definitely louder

Honestly this quad is so much fun it’s not the fastest but for a 250 it stands good very reliable there just all around fun bike

Honda you shift. This is a cvt transmission. So .. totally different. The honda is faster stock imo. This machine is extremely built however.

5w50 per manual. i use amsoil 5w50 for atv/utv

They only put the carb spacer on the 2018 ds250s.

Don't get the Polaris Phoenix 200. It has major starting problems.

But that was in 91 they didn’t put all that crap they put on them now.
