I remember reading Letterboxd reviews for these two, and man, do they look horrendous. Dustin Ferguson seems to be some sort of con artist who suckers us horror fans in with good poster art and nothing else. Seriously, Camp Blood 5 sounds like what Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 was originally meant to be (as in, a repackaged version of the previous film with a couple of added expository scenes). So when people say that directors such as Franco, or even Mattei (or, yes, Polonia) are the worst, I think it's in our duty to point to directors like Ferguson and Batzella as examples of the worst of what cinema has to offer.
Sadly a lot of micro/no-budget stuff like this is dudes who have no artistic eye just going through the motions because they wanna shoot kill scenes, so there's zero style OR substance. I also do no-budget flicks where I do all the behind-camera stuff myself, but I actually try to bring some kind of style and production value however I can, and I just use whatever little money I may have to go towards props or wardrobe, otherwise it's all done free of cost. So that's not an excuse here, it's just lazy filmmaking.
It feels like there's loads of these barely half-arsed attempts at slashers / horror in general nowadays, mostly existing to fill up streaming services or to possibly just trick people into paying money for this stuff. Why can't they just _try_ for once?
As someone who has seen all the Camp Blood movies this are by FAR the worse . I seen other Dustin Ferguson are they are still bad at least Mark Polonia movies are fun in a way , First Slaughter is Mark's worse but some of his other movies are kinda fun but with Dustin they are ALL bad . On a happy note Cam Blood 6 is good (well at least be the series standard ) and it's believed to be one of the better ones . Also since that blu ray release 3 more Camp Blood movie come out and another one Camp Blood Clown Shark (directed by Mark again and that makes it his 5th Camp Blood movie ) has just been announced so you will be here reviewing this movies for a long time . Also good job on the video
Dan, I think I might hold you liable for the mental anguish that was caused by you showing us Camp Blood 4
