Awesome video Jason. Nice highlights of the area. Did I mention that it was hot there? Lol. Thanks for hiking with us and sharing your area. It truly was an amazing time. In regards to your question, I prefer shorter miles taking time to see the sights along the way, backcountry fishing, and camp time with friends and family. Thanks again Jason, you were an awesome host. Let me know when you want to head this way sometime. Have a great day.
You and Kristy was so much fun to hangout with. You two had me laughing and smiling the whole time. I definitely want to meet up with you in Utah really soon. I’m really wanting to see those beautiful mountains. Miss you two and hopefully I will be seeing you soon.
Nice adventure. Lots of great places there. “No Mountain House Allowed!” Those 3 owls are very wise indeed! I enjoy Packs a lot channel. We dehydrate a lot of our meals. Maybe some day we’ll try freeze drying them. Heck yeah!
It was awesome you got to show packs and Kristy rrg. It's great to see people see it for the first time and the Skittles...you just can't beat that. And a great camp for the night. I like camping most of all, more than crushing miles.
Camp time is the best. I backpack mainly for the excellent campsites you can find. Views are good. Waterfalls are good. But camping in a place with waterfalls, views and no one else is the best. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure!
Greys Arch looked pretty cool and good to see you out with Steve and Kristy, although never seen Jeremiah's channel before. The viewpoint view was amazing, so green and so many trees too, great place for a lunch break. Having said that, it did not compare to BBQ chicken! Cheers Alan
Hi Jason! Great to see this area of the Red River Gorge! I haven’t hiked in Kentucky before- love to see the forest and the rock formations 👌 Fun that you got to meet up with Packs and Kristy… and sample their great home prepped trail snacks 😋 I don’t get to backpack as often as you do, but I hear you about hanging out at camp, enjoying the trip, and friends, and being out in nature - that’s what it about for me too! 😉😄 (I’d love to hear the owls!)
Hahaha “No Mountain House Allowed” I always know you’re gonna be bringing some good chow for that 1st dinner at least….. BBQ. Chicken and taters, yep. That Arch was cool, guess I didn’t have to go all the way to Utah to see some beautiful natural arches. That freeze dried ice cream sandwich looked good too. You are blessed to live near the Red River Gorge and such beautiful hiking. Thanks for sharing your joy with us Jason, it’s all good !
Thanks my friend. Tons of Arch’s in the Red River Gorge but Grays Arch is probably the biggest. I couldn’t believe how good that ice cream was. Really delicious
Every time I miss home, I watch your videos brother. I love when you take people to the point. Always showing the true beauty of that region. Stay safe out there!
That looks like you had fantastic adventure. I have to admit there are several Mountain House dinners stored at the farm, just in case of an emergency. I like those Peak Refuel meals. Cheers amigo😎
Nice trip Jason! Looks like jeremiah was showing off his farmers tan and his guns at handing point lol. For your question...I love taking my time on trail and seeing all that I can. Then when I get to camp it's so nice to chill with friends and eat good food.
Very nice adventure at the gorge. You’re the RRG guide. Great time with great people. I met Steve and Kristy a few days prior to this hike. They are really nice people.
Them views always looking nice up there, thanks for sharing. I am more of take my time and soak up all I can on the trail. So getting to camp later in the afternoon and enjoying a good fire with food into the night, is what I enjoy most. Stay safe and good adventures man ✌
Great adventure, Red River Gorge never gets old. The freeze dried food looked delicious. So much to see there, cool hike. Now that I have vacation time, I'd really love to make it out that way for an exclusive Backpacking with Jason and Jeremiah tour of the Red River Gorge. Awesome, awesome trip. Thank you for sharing. Take care Jason. 🇺🇲
That freeze dried ice cream was delicious. I’d absolutely love to show you around the gorge. I’m sure Jeremiah would join in too. I promise we would have a great time
Great video! I started backpacking about 2 years ago and most of my trips have been to the RRG. Some of the most calming views I’ve seen. I’ve been to several of the places you showed, and still have many more to see. My hiking buddy and I always have steak with fried potatoes , onions, and mushrooms for supper the first night. Then have freeze dried meals the next night of so. I haven’t tried freeze dried ice cream before, but it sounds great.
I'd say at this point in time I'm def built more for camp haha. I like putting in some miles but I love being comfy at camp. I need to explore more camp cooking for sure but some of the best times are talking around the fire. Nice vid Jason!
Love the rough trail! The giant rock from pitch em tight is Revenuers Rock. There's a little known route you there but haven't tried. The legend of the 3 owls, is definitely true 😅
What a sweet trip! As for what I like better? Hmm...that's tough to say, I always say, "it's about the journey and not the destination" I definitely don't feel like a mile crusher, but inevitably it seems like I cover a lot. I really do look forward to the chillaxing at camp for sure! Also...now I want a freezer dryer. Checked out prices...nope....not happening!🤣
always enjoy your videos. you seem like a happy guy! i did rough trail from swift camp parking out to hanson's point 4th of july weekend. there was hardly anyone! i had planned on going on out to gray's the next day but a storm rolled in and come sunday...it was pouring! i headed back to the car. i probably coulda stayed another night in koomer but my gear was a muddy mess so i bailed a day early. i could roam around rrg for a full on week! happy trails, bud!
That’s a fun hike you did. Hanson’s point is so awesome. I’m glad it wasn’t packed out there on you. Some of those summer showers can be really crazy. Thunderstorms and heavy rain. Have a great day my friend
What perfect timing! My sister and I go down the rrg every summer for 3 or 4 days. I've taken her to the other popular places and I had just said the only popular place she hasn't seen is grays arch, and within a day of saying that to her, ur video pops up! So guess where we r going the last weekend of july?! Tx for ur video! I'm following in ur footsteps for sure!
I like to cover ground, but have enough time to enjoy a fire. I enjoy good food, but it's not a priority when backpacking. Get back where there are very few people is what I like best. Enjoyed your video and seeing a couple Utah locals.
That fence was put there to create a barrier to a dangerous area...like the previous one that blocks path on top of Gray's arch. Just sayin'. FYI that big rock is called Revenuer's Rock.
For your question, I like both…sometimes long days of miles and sometimes just hanging out at camp. I think those owls died because of eating “mountain house meals” in those three caves…😂😂✌️
Jason...the rock you pointed to that you didn't know the name of is "Revenuer's Rock." legend has it that federal agents would hang out up there and look for moonshiner stills and bust them. i've wanted to explore that feature, but hear that it's horribly thick with briars. would be a fun hike maybe in the winter. let me know if you want to go explore it!
Keep me updated on your schedule for this fall or winter. Maybe we can try and get up on top of that rock. Thanks for letting me know the name of it 👊🏻
Hi Jason!! I haven’t done the Rough Trail yet. My 9yr old son will be coming along on my yearly Solo Hike/camping trip this year beginning of April! Will this trail be a good one for my kiddo to go on? Thanks!
Are you doing the whole Rough Trail? I think the whole trail would be tough on a 9 year old. The trail is up and down the whole time. If you have any questions about the Red River Gorge email me or just hit me up.

I’m here for the views and the camp food! You never disappoint! They sell the freeze dryers at tractor supply now, I think I need one.
Thanks Missy. I think I need a freeze dryer too. That ice cream was delicious
I still need to hit up Hanson’s Point. I know it’s a classic, I just need to find a time to not fight the crowds. Great video, Jason!
