It never let me down once. I couldn't agree more with you . Be bloody careful and you'll make better bullets. On ya mate.
Thanks for sharing ... reloading is something I really want to get into and this video is very helpful as 223 is what I will be reloading once I do.. much appreciated ...
Good vid, with sensible reloading information. I would say to young people thinking of reloading, is to try and pickup used equipment. It’s usually available at swap meets etc. You can keep cost down, and avoid spending a lot to get started. The equipment you used is everything needed. I would add a set of vernier calibers to measure case lengths.
Aloha from Hawaii.... I've started reloading, and I really enjoy it. Actually, it's quite addictive. I frequently use my chronograph and "Satterly " ladder method to help find the best load. Some of my bullet/ powder combos aren't listed, and I have to extrapolate to find the optimum charge. I start low and go as high as possible without major pressure signs. If I see flattened primers or ejector marks, I don't go much further past.... but, I am finding some of my loads have the lowest SD's past max charge. If, however, I start to compress powder, I won't go much higher... Obviously I want to be safe, but, also want max velocity...
That’s good to hear mate. Yea it can be a lot of fun and very satisfying. I’ve never got right into load development as I’m usually trying to pump out bulk loads that still shoot within an inch at 100m for as lower cost possible. But it is still enjoyable.
I start at the recommended load in a reloading manual and try it. if it shoots ok for me that's what I stick to. if not then I try a few different powder weights and see what works best.
I've got the same setup mate but I prime on the downward go around when resizing. That cut down the time significantly. That and the quick detach thread. Cheers from the USA.

Yes I've almost bought one of them a few times but didn't. Would like to try the speer HP projectiles. But I like to buy as cheap as possible. The box of 6000 Hornady 55gr soft point are the cheapest and still as accurate as the Hollow Points
Nothing like knocking out 1000 rounds on a single stage press. I'd load 1000 9mm one Saturday, then shoot them all off the next Saturday. Don't think I ever loaded more than 500 .223 over a weekend. Full length sizing gets tiresome after a while. 😊
It’s not too bad if they are lubed up properly. I used to only neck size them but now that I’m running the same ammo in two different rifles I need to full length size in case of slight chamber differences. I found that some that had been fired in one and then neck sized and put in the other, they wouldn’t fit and I couldn’t get the bolt closed.
Thanks for the video. May I ask, Since my kit has it, When Should I use the collet neck resizing die vs the full size resizing. ? My kit also came with with a factory crimp die. When would you use that?
No worries mate. The neck sizing die is ok if you’re only using the brass in one rifle and it is supposed to make the brass last longer as you’re not reforming the whole case each time. But I still recommend a full resize every few reloads to stop case jams on the chamber. I have to full resize as I use the same ammo in multiple different rifles and every rifle has a slightly different chamber. As for the crimp die I don’t really use mine but for people doing comp work it helps to make sure the projectiles are all crimped to the same tension. I don’t know that much about them so Google might be able to give you a better answer 😉😂

i use same brass, osa, accedently used hornady brass and it changed accuracy quite a bit. 55g sierra game kings, same as supa roo's i'm told, and 25.5gn of 2206H, cci primers. absolute beautiful accuracy of 1/4" groups. need to reload myself, only 30 rounds left. i only neck size with my good old australian press, forget the name. with your changing of components, do you load test every time? i haven't the time, so stick with exact stuff.
Nice. I do test if i change anything but I'm the same. I try and keep them all the same if possible. But in this video i was just using up some old projectiles my boss had in the cupboard. They don't group the best but still work ok. Haha once I get down to about 200 rounds left i usually start thinking of reloading again.
For the 223 the maximum overall length is 57.4mm. the ones I just did are seated to 56.01mm but as long as they are the maximum length or less and not compressing the powder you should be fine. But if you have a look the picture of the finished bullet I had in the video, there is a groove that i just seat them to that groove if that makes sense. But you can put it in to the maximum length and then try it in your rifle chamber. If you take it out after fully closing the bolt check to see if there are any marks from the rifling. If so then seat it a bit deeper. But setting it to your maximum length should be fine. 👍
I just wonder: Why can't you just shot some lube down in the bucket and swirl around? And: If you anneal, how do you do it? Flame or heatplate/oven? Is there a reason why annealing the whole cartridge would be a bad idea?
@@johanneslaxell6641 because you need to get some lube down the neck of the case which you may not get just swirling them around in a bucket. Also I don’t know much about annealing so I can’t really give you a reason sorry.

@@goreinator007I have never actually used a semi auto 223 or reloaded for one but I think I may have heard that somewhere before about they should be crimped but I’m not sure sorry. But for bolt actions etc just a full resize die does the job fine as the projectile is quite tight in the neck of the shell and if you do have to pull one, they certainly take a bit to get them out.
Back around 1915 my father used to reload for his Winchester 32 40. He would stand the empty shells in a tray of water and heat with a blow torch then knock the tray and the shells were annealed.
I had a wild female King parrot that used to feed & it would fly into my shed & sit on my bench while I was working. One day it was fossicking around and just as i said "NO DON"T DRINK THAT! it dipped its beak into a bowl of blue kero I had on the bench & took a drink. It spat it out & shook its head & flew off. Didn't see it it for a few days & I thought it was dead but it came back, Last saw it in 2019 during the bushfires but haven't seen it since. My pet cocky I had when I was a kid got into my wallet I left lying around & shredded all my money into bite sized bits.
@@intothenight1993 They are pretty smart too. The cocky I had used to live in a big cage with a rabbit & would wait over the rabbit's burrow entrance & drop rocks on its head or pooh on it. It could also hang upside down on the wire door & work the bolt open & push the door open then bail mum & my girlfriend up in the house. I'd get an urgent call for assistance & have to come home from work to put it back in.
My advise is read all you can dont do it with all your mates around get the tools you need for the job you can shake the loaded round and hear the powder in it the biggy is if you think you havnt got it right put it aside and pull it apart later .
Yes most definitely to go and buy new ammo that is good quality, your looking at least $1+per shot but to reload if you can buy powder and projectiles in bulk I can reload them for about $0.41 per shot. If you are to buy brass as well it will cost a bit more for the first time but then if you keep your brass as you shoot then it's a lot cheaper from then on.
Not just cost effective but you can build some incredibly accurate ammo to suit your rifle if that’s your thing. If you’re saving 50/60c a shot and shoot a fair bit, it wouldn’t take long to see a return on the reloading gear investment
Maybe consider making it so that people can make one off donations via Patreon if possible? I would consider that over signing up for a recurring donation.
Msg u..But anyway I use 2206h with 25.5g on super roo projectiles coal 2.190..nxt need to work out load etc for vmax 55gr 😎talk later tomorrow hopefully
Why not just prime on the press? You've already handled each piece of brass, putting it into & out of the shell holder. All you needed to do is put a primer in the cup as you size & on the down stroke you're done. Also, with that press if you put slight pressure on the primer & turn the case until it finds the right spot, the primers tend to seat easier in crimped cases. Just Saying...😮
Because it is very fiddly and slow picking up a primer one at a time and putting it in the little holder then seating it. It is far quicker to hand prime them in the auto prime. But now I use a Dillon 650 and do the whole lot in every stroke. Makes it a lot faster 👌

@@intothenight1993 awesome fanx for answering me so quick I enjoy watching all your video's. stay safe & stay strong!!
Haha birds can be annoying things but they give you a good laugh sometimes. 🤣
@@dustyfarmer 🤣🤣🤣👍
Sure is a lot faster than my Lee hand loader😃
My advise is read all you can dont do it with all your mates around get the tools you need for the job you can shake the loaded round and hear the powder in it the biggy is if you think you havnt got it right put it aside and pull it apart later .
Spot on mate 👌
By the time you get all the gear and ammo to reload, is it even more cost effective?
Yes most definitely to go and buy new ammo that is good quality, your looking at least $1+per shot but to reload if you can buy powder and projectiles in bulk I can reload them for about $0.41 per shot. If you are to buy brass as well it will cost a bit more for the first time but then if you keep your brass as you shoot then it's a lot cheaper from then on.
Not just cost effective but you can build some incredibly accurate ammo to suit your rifle if that’s your thing. If you’re saving 50/60c a shot and shoot a fair bit, it wouldn’t take long to see a return on the reloading gear investment
yep
Maybe consider making it so that people can make one off donations via Patreon if possible? I would consider that over signing up for a recurring donation.
ok I'll look into that. Thanks

Msg u..But anyway I use 2206h with 25.5g on super roo projectiles coal 2.190..nxt need to work out load etc for vmax 55gr 😎talk later tomorrow hopefully
Sounds good. 👍
I reload one at a time 6k a year
Good effort.💪
Give me some 😅
People who watch TV 60 hours a week tell you they have no time to reload and it's a waste of time
Haha pretty much.
