  • Come along with us for another successful shoot. Two cats and a few hares and rabbits taken out. Also I bit of a look at the new Hikmicro Stellar and Condor units. Also more of a demo on how the Spiderbot Scorpion holds up to using it while driving in the paddock.

    Good to see the Cats getting their comeuppance. I was wondering if it didn’t get in your way you could try propping up the roof of your ute from inside, i think it would give the stability you’re looking for with that camera. Just a thought! 💭

    Hey Josh, get that gun sighted in well, buy a stable platform for your window to shoot from and you don't need to race down the road as you'll see more just slowing down on the tracks ! Nice work on the cats !

    • @intothenight1993
      @intothenight1993  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Haha I wasn’t in my Ute that night and mostly I shoot off a tripod on foot but I didn’t have the tripod with that night and had a lean off a tree to shoot the pig. But out here the paddocks are so big that if you only drive slow you won’t cover much ground.

      Over the ditch we've just had the first conviction for manslaughter using thermal. A few years ago a camper was shot while cleaning their teeth wearing an led head torch by spotlighters. Cows put their legs in the air on private land regularly. In many hands thermal is dangerous, & we have a TV channel that actively promotes it as safe. Along with plenty of other hunting misinformation. It usually features local "legends" (often either guides &/or local problem hunters & twitchers) on private reserves. Hunting doesn't need a worse reputation, & misuse of thermal by problem/excitable hunters is a major contributor.

    It's great stuff what you do and ĺove ÿour video's , but I think at the end of the day , who can afford to pay for this technology, it must be thousands worth. Is this technology targeted for professional cullers? I don't think an average landowner could afford this stuff. It's getting a little bit high tech for my liking. I'm not being disrespectful, but are feral getting more up to date with technology as well? Go back to basics and learn how to track these animals and then cull

      On different species & part time pro, these make a difference in some situations. They make some easier, but pro is about control or getting certain targets, not just killing some. As the tech has advanced more can afford it. Using low end for a few years showed limitations are serious, so are positives, and the risks like safety. Many cowboys now use it, and it's made the opposition really wary, & not noticeably scarcer.
      And made permission etc harder, most don't understand illegal, sometimes safe, and the rude shock consequences.
      Doing the basics also keeps the pay coming in, & few now can do this effectively. Probably few ever could, one great white YT hunter reckoned deer here were near extinct when as a pup getting enough for good wages & having some big money weeks happened. & was more keen than skilled, today would be getting 1/day (enough to carry out), hindsight being 20/20. The culling done consisted of finding & assessing how to get the lot, then doing it as best as possible. Escapes are failures. Harvesting, sporting, selective etc are figments. Although currently do leave trophy potential ones at times. Medal award stuff...
