- All valuations were correct at the time of broadcast. Built between 1830 and 1840, this mahogany table looks incredible for its age! Hugh Scully and the experts from Antiques Roadshow take a look at some fantastic antiques and the history and stories surrounding them. This clip was filmed in Blackpool in 1990.

I love old furniture. It always has a story to tell.
Yes, me too! We had a rocking chair in our home as a child that my great-grandmother was gifted from her grandmother..and one of the most special things about that chair my Grandma showed me was where you placed your hands. The ends of the arms were a slightly lighter tone & my Gma explained to me that was where here hands were and over the years she would eventually rock 12 children in that chair, my grandpa being 1 of those 12. I never forgot that and I thought of her every time I sat I it, especially when I rocked my daughter in it 🙏♥️ I love to think of the possibilities in a special piece, kind of magical in a way!

When given the estimation for the table, she said she should insure. The gentleman with the plate, more than the table according to my hearing, only said he was glad the nail was strong. People never cease to amaze me. 😅

But high quality tables in that condition are rare and highly sought after. One could easily add a zero to that valuation, or more.
