    Back when her first album came out, she was performing at a small club in Minneapolis and I decided to go check her out. I didn't consider myself a fan, I didn't own her album, but I thought the songs i heard on the radio were fine. I really liked her live and after each song the way she said (almost yodeled) thank you in her accent was just great. I left the concert with her cd.

    Didos father was Irish, so you can hear the Irish influence in her voice, she has a similar voice and style to Dolores O'Riordan from the cranberries

      Thank you for your explanation. For a long time, I wonder why her voice is breathy but also consonant like that. I can't find the similarities with legend Dolores O'Riordan in Cranberries either, Wow, now I am clear.

      That’s quite a leap. Dido was born and lived her entire life in the London England area and left home at around thirteen. There’s no discernible Irish accent in her speaking or singing voice. No reason for one. The comparison with Delores doesn’t work. O’Riordan has a very pronounced Celtic accent. Dido is Kensington all the way.

    It’s worth mentioning that Dido has always put together brilliant touring bands. Her long time percussionist Jody Linscott (an American living in London) has one of the most impressive resume’s in rock and pop. Also of note is her use of electronica synths etc combined with standard bass, guitar, drums, percussion. Her sound is very organic.

    As an American, my first introduction to Dido was when I heard the theme to the TV show, 'Roswell', from back in 1999, "Here With Me". I loved the song so I watched the show and I loved the show as well. But, my favorite part, being a musician and singer myself in my younger days, was that theme song. I just couldn't get enough of it. I'm 68 years old now but I still, all these years later, love to hear the song "Here With Me" by Dido. It's my favorite by her and this song, "White Flag" is my next favorite. Great job young lady and keep doing what you're doing. I really enjoy hearing what you have to say and listening to some good music as well.

    Dido uses the word “I” in most lines in all of her songs that I’ve listened to. To me this is lazy songwriting though she does have a great voice. Once you notice the “I”s it’ll put you off for good. A good example of using I in a song is the chorus to Alive by Pearl Jam imo. It is used sparingly but then exaggerated when used and this makes a dramatic impact. I wonder if anyone of her producers or friends has ever mentioned this to Dido?

    • @JohnLnyc
      @JohnLnyc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder if you noticed that Dido writes songs about HERSELF….lol
      She writes of her experiences her feeling her emotions her life. By the way Eddie uses “I” or ‘I’m” 26 times in “Alive”…seriously Dido is singing from her diary, about her life. She is more confessional than allegorical.
