It's weird since Attack on Memory was a brilliant album. I felt they took the mantel of that angsty noise/indie rock that had been left vacant, but I dont what happened after that album. Here and Nowhere Else was just as brilliant, yet seemed to have not gotten the same level of love. Its weird, the 2010s should have been kinder to them.
TJ is my favorite! i met them a few times, but specifically when i couldn’t get into their SXSW show the second or third time they came, i was talking to them out back about how it sounded good from outside still and he just gave me this marble he’d found in a small town antique store that day. like “better luck for next time”, y’know. they were all really hyped to see Young Fathers later but they all kept laughing whenever one of them would say the name Young Fathers. great guys and i like seeing them keep at it.
Saw these guys at the 2013 Perth Laneway Festival - the organisers for some reason put them up to play in a circus tent in the festival grounds instead of on a proper full stage. Anyways, what sucks is that they were only able to play two songs as the crowd was so crazy the event organisers were scared the tent was going to collapse, so they had to stop playing. The guys were pissed and the crowd went even more ballistic in response. I just can't fathom how dead this crowd is here in comparison...
almost a perfect album honestly. just don't know if 8 songs is enough to justify the inclusion of a ineffectual/forgettable instrumental track in the middle. the unabashed, hyperbolic self-criticism and nihilistic ideation in the lyrics are just so astoundingly relatable, more than I'd care to admit in detail. fantastic delivery of expression in a rock context. Attack on Memory is very fucking good. I cannot wait to see the 10yr anniversary gig tonight.
+Tom McCauley drummer is horrible!!!!1 and that's being kind////GREAT BAND GREAT SONG PHONY GUY PRETENDING TO BE?????????????????????????anything but a percussion-drummer kind of stool....ergh...too l
+Gary Zajdel sorry man. next time we will consult you on how to identify what we *should* be looking for in musicians, since you clearly show competence in that area. lmao. also, to OP, that is neither technique. it's singles and doubles. Rich was fond of triples and gravity blasts depend on the rim, and he doesn't seem like he's relying on it. the guy is just fast as hell.
Literally all of their albums after this have been consistently good quality lol. Problem is you can't have Steve Albini on your beck and call plus it's damn near been 10 years since this album lol. People age.
As someone who loves this band, realistically, if they wanted to blow up in popularity they couldve easily taken out at least 90% of the long instrumental chorus. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, but the average person will lose interest after a 1 to 3 minute long instrumental. This band has so much potential, but they killed it with this absurdly long chorus. Again, I don't hate the long chorus, but most people are uncultured af
There's absolutely no chemistry between the 2 guitarists. They never looked at each other, not one time. It's a really weird performance but not in a good way.
Ten years later and this song still blows my mind.
I only just heard it on my Spotify discovery list. Gives me early 90s grunge vibes. Love it.
It’s pretty good
It does, big time!
cos' the Beatles wrote it....or maybe Kurt Cobain sang it....
RIP Steve Albini. The way he polished rough diamonds was incredible
I think this song alone is why they should be huge right now
3 years later. New album dropped today. Still not huge. Still extremely disappointed they haven't blown up
@@shhs1227 thanks thanks pp
@@citizencraneJust watched the new one, still sick.
I never knew i needed modest mouse with Keith Morris on vocals.
it's a crime that they're relatively unknown. so much raw talent in one video

Jayson is such an unbelievable drummer
I'm impressed no one broke a string or a fingernail during the performance.
Mauricio Elizondo We don't really know about the fingernails do we
Headlined a show the other week an someone said we sound like em, listening, I’ll take that as a massive compliment.. brilliant these.
holy shit what an incredible performance of an incredible song
That's what i call a bassist.
I've been trying to find the bass tabs for a fat ass minute
Daniel Angulo post here if u find one

100000%!! He’s literally the pulse of this whole session.. I love how locked in he is.. fucking amazing 🙌🏼
That’s what I call a bass player
12 years ?!!!! miss you guys
The thanks at the end is literally perfect
i will tell my kids this is what freebird is
By the minute 12:30 the stress i was feeling in my whole body was hell too much that I had to shut down my netbook
Wow, I'm literally speechless
This was my number one listened to sing this year… over 180 times. Thanks so much for getting me through some rough patches.!
Such simple guitar sounds but real raw power
right when the whole jam ends all the chills over my cheeks and neck release.. amazing
McLovin all grown up!
God dammit I'll never get that out of my brain
Spot on
nothing can beat the feeling of being a the car with your dad and the volume maxed
saw this anniversary show in london recently and this song has aged like a ming vase
最強だよ、マジで
THANK YOU TO MY DAD FOR SHOWING ME THIS SONG
Underrated song & Band!!! Vous êtes incroyables, Bravo à tous !
And they are so fucking amazing live!!❤
that was fucking intense
Stunning
Beautiful
This is absolutely amazing!!!
MY FAVORITE DRUMMER!
Just realised that what I thought was him screaming in the breakdown on the album version is whatever's happening with the pedals here.
Easily my favorite song of this summer.
endless nameless
LADY GODIVA'S
More like nirvana
youth of america

Pouha muito bom muito bom mesmo principalmente o baterista achei muito legal o som dele!
さいこうだ!!
A masterpiece.
Holy fuck, Batman, what a drummer what a song!
Unbelievable. One of my favorite
Love this song! Thank you Cloud Nothings! :-)
thirteen minutes in, drummer has seen ghosts
Single of the year, no doubt.
The Drummer actually spits while he's looking down when the video shows the tittle of the band 10 seconds in.
Cloud nothings, great band !!
wasted days is an anthem
I think I will be more than this.
Best rock band to ever come out of Cleveland. Sorry, MSB.
Am the only one who's having difficulty to breathe after listening to this..
No
No.
wtf ads!? i dont mind them but not in the freaking middle of the jam!
go damn, good shit
These guys are fucking incredibles!
Fucking gorgeous!
Banga
I thought for a moment that this was at the Grogshop because of the curtains in the background.
The breakdown of this version sounds a lot like the sound of animals fighting
Nile Stone Yes!! I’ve been trying to figure out why I love this song so much.. definitely has a TSoAF vibe to it, especially the breakdown

In my opinion the instrumental track is pretty good and a lot of fun.
I will never forget Separation. For me it is super effective.
Fucking pure music

Underated af
I though I would be more than this.
Is he doing that one-handed roll gravity beat-style or Buddy Rich-style? Either way, he is my higher power.

+Gary Zajdel That's not the question I asked about the greatest modern drummer, dipshit :)

my wrists would dismantle if I'd play like him
mega
❤
This song always reminds me of Youth of America by the Wipers.
andrearusso89 Dylan Baldi is a fan so that makes sense it seeped into his songwriting
Yeah, I noticed it
Dylan baldi in an interview said that he pretty much ripped off a bunch of Wipers songs while writing attack on memory
does anyone have any recommendations for tracks like this? angsty punk ish with noise rock influence ?
Look into METZ from Canada. They’re a noise punk trio, not as melodic or pop as Cloud Nothings, but they make a shit ton of noise
Indian Summer - Angry Son might be your thing (moreso emocore stuff but whatever)
Greg sage and the wipers
I'm guessing Michael Stanley Band.
did Mclovin start a new band?? I didn't get the memo
Hi mom!!! *Dope fiend lean zo*
Sounds like Hot Snakes.
Hi mom! Im gonna go to the linkin park concert!
:)

Oh so artistic fentanyls!
Youre amazing but theres fentanyl zombies outside ya know. Mr cleveland ovio!
Gave me a panic attack :)
this clip is missing a pit of nihilists.
All aboard, r/wallstreetbets 🚀💥🧂🌊
The song that started my love for them. Such a pitty that they became progressively worse since then...

I love the album version of this song but live does not feel good in my ears.
Btw Idk who filmed this but I can't stand it. It's not an action movie, its a nice fcking progressive rock song
Ioreks prog rock? wtf
this is not progressive rock... at all

This is a good song, could have been great without the gay part in the middle.
Dom Tes I like Joe Boyer's western style guitar lead/solo in the middle starting from around 6:10, it's pretty cool.
Dom Tes biggest troll in history
10 years later n this bands still fuckin gay
