We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

If someone stands behind and really want to look at your code they actually can see the same digits unless of course you use NFC to unlock. Battery life is the big deal breaker on this for me. My Level Bolt smart locks have been pretty great at no-fuss automatic unlock/lock when I arrive/depart, but the battery life is abysmal. I'm constantly having to swap out the relatively expensive CR2 batteries on the things every other week. If battery life is decent, it's an instant buy for me - Home Key looks fantastic.

This in a way future proofs this product. I have had many "smart" home devices lose support from the manufacturer but because they have HomeKit, I am still able to use them. If for a any reason Schlage decides to stop support for these locks, AppleHome Kit will still be able to support them.

Can't wait for the Lockpinging Lawyer to get his hands on this thing. I'm expecting a sub 3 second lock pick, the electronic lock is probably defeatable within a second.

I really can't wait for this to be released. Do you guys know how much it will be on release?

Thanks for the video. Do you only need an iPhone to set up Home Kit? I read elsewhere that at minimum a Mini Home Hub or an iPad is needed.

Great lock. However, a fingerprint lock is better because we all have fingers. Not everyone has an Apple Watch or an iPhone.
If I was out in the yard and I wanted to get in the house, I can use my fingers if I don’t have my phone or watch on me.
This is still pretty cool though

If you get 2 of these locks (one for back door one for front), will you get one HomeKit key for the home or one per lock? And if you do get one per lock can they both be express keys?

I have this same question. It would be convenient to share the same homekey for a front door and back door.

Will be waiting for an UWB smart lock, which Yale has promised to be making.
