I brought the Snooper 6800, Snooper have been around longer than TomTom and Garmin, and I am so pleased with it, 7" screen, free map updates for life, speed cam loactions (£29 a year) and all the bells and wistles, its so accurate its unreal mate

Another good tomtom sat nav review/comparison Luke. In some instances the trucker 6000 did load quicker on he main screen. But then the GP 6200 actually caught up and over took loading maps on screen.

Ha. I keep looking out the windscreen thinking I should be watching the road. I have the trucker 6000. Never had to use it for about a year as we had microlise and wher forbidden from using sat NATS. Then a a job with easy routes. But, now I have to use and it's helped me through central London. I would have been totally stuck without it. And all over the country. I'm driving abroad this month. Let's see how it does there. Great vids mate.

Best thing to get is the co-pilot truck app for smart phone, 2 weeks free trial and you don't need to sign up or anything. Been using it for the last two weeks. Probably going to pay the £8 a month for it. You get constant traffic updates for it. It's well worth it. It's not the best for general distribution work where your finding 20 addresses aday like what I do but for haulage work it's perfect.

I got the tom tom trucker 6000 the first one I got wouldn't even turn on, I took it back to the shop to get replaced. The replacement sometimes takes forever to load and crashes.
Plus if your destination is down a 7.5 ton access only route it can send you 20 miles out the way just to avoid it which is a pain in the arse.
Plus it can send you on shortcuts through housing estates etc which can be a twat in a 44 tonne truck with parked cars etc.
Traffic on them is good though

The Truth I've had the same problems with mine. The 7.5 ton thing is crazy & very frustrating. However to me, my tom tom is a rough guide nothing more. My eyes & common sense are the mark one guidance system

@Luke C I'm looking to buy a device to help plan suitable routes when towing my caravan , currently just have a Tom Tom car version and it will often take me down country lanes to save 1 mile, do these devices actually work for the job they are intended?

    Luke,
Been running the TomTom Go Professional 6250 for a couple of weeks now and find the unit isn't charging when in the mount, screen goes blank and cycles trying to restart, if I remove the cable from the mount and plug straight in to the unit, all is fine, starts up and stays on. Have you found this? I'm in touch with TomTom at the moment to get a replacement mount, see if this solves it.

  • @allanwainwright3056

First of all, interesting video. I have the cheaper 6000, which I bought with free traffic updates for life. I don't doubt that they are both excellent units, but I'm sorry mate, for the sake of a few extra seconds route finding and loading time, I'd rather save the extra 70 quid the 6200 costs. Well in my case 90 quid as mine cost 260.. Yes , before you ask it is a truck version.

  • @CarlsVlogs

Hi Luke, very interesting video. I use the S7000 truckmate Snooper, what this does not do very well is tell me about road closes. I go up and down the M6 alot, and it does not tell me when they are closed in time. It has TMC installed but its always late in telling me, I got this back in 2013 and have always updated it. Have you used this device??? do you know other drivers that do use the S 7000 maybe its time for me to upgrade my one, or contact my supplier and tell them. Have a good weekend and drive carefully kind regards.

they are exactly the same but the 6200 have built-in wifi ... (and looks a little bigger). And that is the newer model, 6000 is no longer produced. I'd love to see a Tomtom trucker 6000 (or 6200) vs Garmin Dezl 770 review

  • @seanvernon5549

Great video but I don't really care which is the quickest the things I look for is bridge heights, weight limits, traffic updates, speed limits, speed cameras. And can someone from Tom Tom tell me why they can charge so much for these sat navs when a car one is a lot less at the end of the day some drivers can't afford to pay £250-£350.

Grate video Luck! I am currently going through the process of getting my HGV licence. I have my class 2 test on the 16th. Your channel has been very helpful along the way. I am now looking at Sat Nav's myself do you have any experience of the Garmin drive-smart? I seem to be swaying towards that after reading some reviews online.

Don't see a massive difference between the two, to warrant the extra £70, unless this is the difference in cost for traffic updates when new? Both are very capable units, that get the job done, with the min of fuss it seams.

  • @IanRM

I use a £80 Garmin . . the odd extra 1.6 seconds it takes hasn't got me lost yet lol

    • @grahamatsea3575
      @grahamatsea3575 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes but does the £80 garmin take your vehicle dimensions so a safe route is planned for larger vehicles...... I think not, which should be the main focus of this video.
I tow a caravan and am fed up with my current Tom Tom taking me on completely unsuitable roads, it tried to send me on a single track road to miss to save a mile of main road, utterly ridiculous.

Have used tom tom satnavs and they are good but I only use Google maps from phone It costs about 50p data which i don't mind but it's quick at re navigating a route if say you take a wrong turn etc and I never use visual eg I never look at the screen just put phone in dash etc where I can't see screen and use audio only I much prefer audio only but takes some getting used to tho but on the basis that Google got the search engine right big time plus many businesses show routes based on Google maps on their computer etc and it's called Google streetview not tom tom street View etc Ill stick with Google maps and there is no upfront purchase cost just type postcode in and go but I do use it in conjunction with my own good working knowledge of the uk road network thus knowing when to follow Google maps and or use a better shortcut ratrun etc
