I’m glad her being Japanese wasn’t sidelined for solely speaking English and having an English accent and they thought about the implications of her solely speaking Japanese until she met the rest of Gorillaz and started learning English + being around people with English accents. I like how they put a lot of thought into what the characters would sound like which makes it more natural. I wonder who voices Noodle? It sounds like a Japanese person who has lived in England for a long time, which makes sense for Noodle who arrived when she was 10 and has grown up there around local accents she picked up. I love how 2-D gets annoyed at her not translating everything lol, been there with friends who want me to translate but when you're not a professional business translator it's hard to do it fully so you provide a summary of what was said both ways. A professional would take notes while listening but she has to do it back and forth in her head and does a quick version of what was said. Had friends complain I'm not telling them everything but I gave them the important bits lol. Kids can often pick up accents fast and more so if they still live in that country so Noodle feels accurate. It's like how Newt from the Aliens movie had an English twang to her voice at the time because her dad was in the air force stationed in the UK at the time, she went to school in the UK and was around those accents so it changed. The actress moved back to America with her family later and now has a completely American accent. Noodle would keep that twang she picked up since she didn't move back to Japan later.
No Quitting I think the idea is that Noodle is one of those actors that's able to do accents, the way some actors can play roles from different countries. English actors play Americans quite a lot, but they usually practice and perfect their accents so they can sound American.

I like how they put a lot of thought into what the characters would sound like which makes it more natural. I wonder who voices Noodle? It sounds like a Japanese person who has lived in England for a long time, which makes sense for Noodle who arrived when she was 10 and has grown up there around local accents she picked up. I love how 2-D gets annoyed at her not translating everything lol, been there with friends who want me to translate but when you're not a professional business translator it's hard to do it fully so you provide a summary of what was said both ways. A professional would take notes while listening but she has to do it back and forth in her head and does a quick version of what was said. Had friends complain I'm not telling them everything but I gave them the important bits lol.
Kids can often pick up accents fast and more so if they still live in that country so Noodle feels accurate. It's like how Newt from the Aliens movie had an English twang to her voice at the time because her dad was in the air force stationed in the UK at the time, she went to school in the UK and was around those accents so it changed. The actress moved back to America with her family later and now has a completely American accent. Noodle would keep that twang she picked up since she didn't move back to Japan later.

I think the idea is that Noodle is one of those actors that's able to do accents, the way some actors can play roles from different countries. English actors play Americans quite a lot, but they usually practice and perfect their accents so they can sound American.
When 2-D zones out or thinks about something other than the conversation it reminds me of every conversation I've had ever, I don't know how people can stay focused in conversation so long

I really like how 2D and the creator of the watches have trouble understanding each other and Noodles is only translating small bits to each party. Each party only sees the few words they understand, or what they think they heard. I wonder what would Murdoc would have done if he was there.
