- Hello! Thank you so much for watching my Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep highlight / condensed reactions video. This was originally streamed on Twitch and has been edited exclusively just for TH-cam. It is finally time for the final route, which is Aqua's route! I unfortunately did not get all the Xehanort's reports because I didn't know that I had to have a separate saved data for each route, hence I didn't get the secret ending. So, I decided to react to the secret ending and secret episode of this game by watching the videos on TH-cam instead. Overall, I absolutely love this game and I intend to do a second playthrough to 100% it at some point!

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix in collaboration with Disney Interactive Studios for the PlayStation Portable, serving as the sixth installment in the Kingdom Hearts series.
The game utilizes an overhauled battle system different from previous games in the series which features new elements. It is a prequel to the original Kingdom Hearts, taking place ten years before its events. The game centers on the journeys of Terra, Aqua and Ventus, characters briefly featured in Kingdom Hearts II, in their quest to locate the missing Master Xehanort and protect the worlds from creatures known as the Unversed. The player has access to the three characters' different scenarios when playing.

helloooo! this video marks the end of my birth by sleep journey! it was such a wonderful experience and the wayfinder trio started to grow on me to the point where i really want to do a 2nd playthrough just to play as aqua and fight TERRANORT 😈

Hello, to answer the question @26:09, it is not a spoiler, just an unspoken fact:
Remember when Aqua cast a spell on Kairi's necklace at @24:52? If she's ever in trouble, her light will be brought to the light of another. When Radiant Garden fell to darkness and became Hollow Bastion, her light was taken to Destiny Islands, where Sora is :) You would think she would end up in Traverse town like Sora did when Destiny Islands was lost, but Sora's light brought Kairi to him instead.
Also, the destiny trio was very young, it's hard to remember anything at that age, (especially Sora *winkwink*)
OH YESSS! omg the foreshadowing is crazy! i need to replay all the kingdom hearts games again 🤣
Aqua's ending devastated me for years and I loved watching your entrie playthrough and seeing your reaction to key moments! Can't wait to see your future reactions. BbS is my favorite KH game and it has made me cry time and time again.

@@skyeifer yeah you def gotta at least experience Aqua vs Terranort. One of the best fights in the entire franchise and shows just how powerful she is to take down Xehanort solo
I dont have much to say about this episode, since its very self explanatory. All i can think of is just gushing about stuff i really like about this game's plot twists and the likes, like the castle oblivion reveal, or how good the blank point scene is at the end.
I guess the one thing i want to mention the most is the dynamic for the wayfinder trio compared to the destiny trio and other stuff related to aqua and what she learns and stuff.
Despite terra aqua and ven being associated more directly to riku kairi and sora for obvious reasons, the names, genders, ect, the actual story dynamics actually has sora more specifically in the role of aqua, which also matches why aqua feels like the real hero fixing everything else up, and aqua explicitly compares her situation with terra with sora and riku hoping they will have better luck than them, while kairi and ven are the one who share the most narrative similarities, with them being pure light, ending up in a long sleep and their hearts going to sora, or being the recent newcomers, and more!
I also like how aqua starts off as the perfect strict light oriented perfect student for eraqus, but she slowly learns that what eraqus taught her (get ready to kill mercilessly anytime you see darkness) is a bad thing and she slowly starts using her head more, she is generally placed as like a "cop" figure in a lot of the worlds, while terra is actually much more emotionally intelligent and much more pacifist instead since the starts, he just gets unlucky with villains always trying to use him and get associated with them unintentionally because he actually gives people time to explain themselves and doesn't judge em for appearances, especially since he is sorta being treated like that by eraqus and stuff. I love how clear it is stitch and terra (and also novel vanitas) are paralleled to each other.
Finally, i love the reprise of the grandma's fairytale, which is probably foreshadowing how exactly the series is going to end, the true light being recovered and the worlds being healed and not separated again, and the fairy grandmother explaining how the way to deal with darkness isnt violence and fighting it with light, but its from them reaching together, and more specifically, Love. Maleficent being still around in the series and she proclaiming she wont be defeated by something as insignificant as love looks to me like it's going to be exactly how it will happen. All of these endgame threads tied to the concept of capital L disney Love, uh?
Im sure you probably know the reason ventus and sora have that connection, since newborn sora helped ventus to keeo him alive, but i want to mention an extra thing i just remembered. When kairi meets aqua, kairi briefly holds onto her keyblade in a cutscene. Nomura confirmed her touching her keyblade is the reason why she wields one in kh2 and future games, aqua accidentally bestowed upon her the keyblade powers.

Why does Vanitas look like Sora, except edgier and why does Ven has to do with Sora?
Waaaay back at the beginning of this game (Birth by Sleep), when Xehanort took Ven to Destiny Islands, Ven’s heart came in contact by mere chance with Sora’s, when Sora was a new-born infant. And Sora unconsciously shared the energy from his heart with Ven’s fractured heart to help him be whole again (and in the process, helped Ven have a personality similar to Sora’s). And that was Sora while he was a newly-born heart, mind you. He didn’t know (nor will ever remember) what he was doing with all of this.
As for Vanitas, he didn’t have an actual face at first (that’s why we only see him wearing a mask during the entire game until Ven’s Ending). But the main reason why Vanitas looks like a Dark Sora is because he is the opposite of what Sora represents on Ven (Vanitas was the Darkness that was stripped away, Sora was the piece that helped him be whole again. Kind of like a Ying and Yang moment). And he gained that face and form the more he was fighting Ven. All of this I can back it up with the idea that, if you pay close attention, Vanitas’s Boss Battle Theme is a re-arrangement of Sora’s Theme, except evil and in a minor key instead of a Major Key.
And since you saw the True Ending, I’ll add this:
Sora, at 4 years old, saved Ven AGAIN by reaching out to his heart when it got severely damaged after it’s fight with Vanitas. And he willingly decided to bear Ven’s heart inside his so it can rest up and heal for as long as it needs. And after that, Sora was clueless about this for YEARS. So much so that, back in KH1 after Sora “died”, Roxas was supposed to look like Sora. But since Sora came back before that could happen, Roxas’s image was instead based on Ven’s, since that was the other heart that was inside him the whole time.
And remember: Sora doesn’t realize any of this that I’m telling you mainly because no one really went to think about any of this. And it makes sense because even if they knew: “In what moment do you think it’d be a good topic for a conversation to talk about this”? XD
Kingdom Hearts has a bonkers story and that’s why I love it so $&€£¥@ much!

Hey there! its me AGAIN! (TLDR IRL Sucks so I haven't been able to comment or really be online). First and foremost GG on the BBS plays! Its not my favorite in terms of gameplay but story wise I can appreciate it for the backstory. I did do some speedruns of Aqua and Ventus so I can share some cool info. before i share lore/story thoughts
So the fastest way to beat Aqua's story on critical mode is are you ready? Staying LEVEL ONE. There is a critical mode exclusive ability called EXP Zero (or Zero EXP idk square likes to change it up) where when you turn it on you activate hidden properties that make you super busted in terms of command style finishers! Id HIGHLY suggest looking up some videos on it, its REALLY cool what happens!
in terms of story Aqua is easily my favorite (Favorite character tho is Ven :3) From meeting the trio as kids, to the warm tender moments she witnesses from other Disney Characters its just yes.
The Secret ending of BBS is EASILY my favorite cutscene in ALL of KH. The music, The tears and just everything about it warms my heart and makes me love it over and over again.

The armor is not supposed to protect from magic body possession (?) it's for protection against the space hazards, the same way you need a Gumi Ship in other games!
Aqua is VERY popular because she's the first competent, playable female character in this series, and she's a waifu. Also, they did an exclusive short KH 0.2 game following directly the end of Aqua's route in BBS, you'll play it eventually.
I think Ventus didn't "know" Sora, but rather he just felt attracted to a kindred soul. At the start of Ventus Route I think is when we see that Xehanort almost leaves Ventus in Destiny Islands, so it is implied that he has some kind of bond with the place. Perhaps Ventus' heart drifted there, after it fractured during the Vanitas' fight and wandered lost, and there it found Sora's heart as a suitable half to complement him. It is ALSO implied that this is why Sora's Nobody (Roxas) looks like Ventus, although it's never explained why Vanitas looks like an evil version of Sora?
Your theory has already been confirmed! In Kingdom Hearts 2 they explained to you that Ansem the Wise had an apprentice called Xehanort, that looks exactly like Terranort, and that apprentice was who took on Ansem's name and research on the Hearts and Heartless, when he split himself he turned into Ansem(Heartless) and Xemnas. So yes! That's why they both look like Terranort and not the old Xehanort. And that is also why you can see Aqua's armor in KH2, hidden away in Ansem's secret laboratory.
Also, fun fact, there are a couple of secret bosses in previous games as well, in 2.5 Final Mix they added a secret fight against Terra's Armor that was left in the Keyblade Graveyard, hollow of everything but Terra's willpower. And it is HARD.
I just remembered! When Ventus' heart was incomplete the first time we see him in Destiny Island, it's Sora's heart the first one that comes to him! And that's how they "met", and probably why Vanitas looks like evil Sora. Goddamn I forgot such an important piece and we just saw it on the last video too xD

So, to explain what happened to Terra in his ending.
It’s not that his armor sucked because it didn’t protect him. It’s that he didn’t react in time and activated the armor just when Xehanort’s heart already reached him. If he had activated it before that, he wouldn’t have been possessed. As to how did Terra’s armor moved on it’s own and then stood still and rested when that explosion happened… This is the deal with it:
Back in Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix (the version you played), there’s a secret boss fight that you can do at the post-game after you defeated Xemnas (the Final Boss). This boss fight… Was Terra’s Armor… Known in the game (and the KH Community) as “Lingering Will”. Why it is called that? It’s because the armor is infused with Terra’s Anger, Frustration, Desire and Revenge, all his thoughts, all to gather it’s strength and defeat Xehanort (Keyword: Defeat. Not Kill or anything. Just defeat). The reason for why Lingering Will fights you in the first place is because it can’t “see” what’s in front of it, only sense the presence of it’s enemies. So, in their POV, they’re not fighting Sora. They’re fighting Xehanort because “Who else would have a Keyblade that isn’t Ven or Aqua?” in his eyes (he didn’t noticed that time passed). And once you beat this boss, it realizes that Sora was not Xehanort and just goes to sleep in the same pose of it kneeling down with it’s Keyblade like in Terra’s ending.
After explaining all of this, what happened was that after Lingering Will defeated Terra-Xehanort (or Terranort for the KH Community), it completed it’s purpose to “Defeat Xehanort” and, since it had no other motivation to keep going, it shut down and kneeled, it’s purpose being completed.
I’m gonna come back in the comments later to explain other stuff that you didn’t understand (like why does Vanitas looks like Sora). So, look forward to my explanations! XD And I’ll try to keep them spoiler-free, only mentioning the games that you played previously in the channel and not mention the ones that you haven’t posted a playthrough yet over here.

And the ending gives you just enough trauma to feel the emotional gutpunch for 0.2's opening, especially the last few seconds of it
I love the ending of BBS so much, I think the game can drag a bit at times but what an ending! Or like six endings! There are two subtle things that I really love that I want to call out (at least these are how I read them)
1:07:05 Riku saying some cheesy stuff about hearts and Sora saying "sounds weird but okay" is cute because to me it suggests that a lot of Sora's personality comes from him trying to emulate Riku. I think Riku got more cynical as he aged but Sora never did
1:19:42 this scene absolutely destroys me every time and I think the reason that Aqua is crying is because when she met Sora, she specifically wished that he would be able to keep his innocence and not get dragged into the sort of keyblade based conflicts that tore apart her and her friends. I think she feels hopeful, hearing that Sora has become a hero of light with the potential to save them, but also sad to know that the sweet little boy she met wasn't able to have a normal life like she hoped
Those are my opinions anyway! Looking forward to seeing your Coded reactions, I hated most of it the first time I watched it but it's grown on me. It's so, so, so stupid, and I kind of love it
