hello! pls don't roast me for what i said at 25:03 and 30:35. i finally got it at 26:20 and 32:47 🤣 i have a memory problem, okayyy? hope you enjoy this video! also, aqua's route video is coming next week!
haha, I was gonna say at the end you d-linked with vanitas in those final moments, seems the chat told you, too. I also never use the feature since it feels kind of overkill? but it feels nice to level them up early on
I love your reactions to the lore, how you are always clueless, it reminds me, i had to watch many times different gameplays and people explaining on videos
hi there! oh thank you so much i'm glad i could share my experience with you! but yeah the lore was confusing but it's so fun to piece all the puzzles together!
Before i explain, i dont know if you ended up understanding what happened at the end of terra's story? since the game expected you to have known who was the secret boss of kh2, which is terra's armor you play as at the very end there. Lemme know if you want an explanation about it! Now for the actual thing I want to share, this time there's nothing about the video and run itself, but it's something else, a super cool secret, that is slowly being unveiled in the actual games too recently! So, I don't remember if I mentioned it, but KH has novels, made by someone who closely works with Nomura for the games (the author is specifically the one responsible for most of days' story, xion's creations, and future stuff too). And in the BBS novel, there is a huge portion of the book dedicated in actually exploring and revealing Vanitas' secret backstory and origin, and we see a lot of pages from his perspective, which actually reveal to us his motivations, which I don't know if you noticed or not, we never actually get to see in the actual game! Essentially, once Vanitas was taken out of Ventus, Ventus (and also Vanitas) was slowly dying, until Sora saved him, which in turn is the reason why Vanitas got his face (he was faceless before that). As Xehanort kept his plan going, Vanitas soon discovered that having a damaged incomplete heart caused every emotions he felt, which because he's made of ventus' darkness are just negative ones, to spill out as an unversed. We get to see in the novel him slowly coming to realize what it means to him, whenever an unversed is killed and returns to him, he feels extreme pain every time it happens, which makes him hate them and himself too. On top of it, Xehanort is preparing him for his plan, for which Vanitas needs to be strong and increase his darkness. And to do so Xehanort continually abuses him verbally and physically. We get very direct awful child abuse beating from Xehanort to Vanitas, and we slowly see how in the 4 years he was split from Ventus how this treatment slowly turned him into what we see in the game, which is basically a big tough facade he develops to protect himself and extremely full of survival instincts too. He hates Ventus for not having to suffer like he does, he hates Xehanort, he hates everyone, and he's, again, in constant pain from being broken and from the unversed. We get to see how during the events of the game the way finder trio constantly killing hundreds of unversed is having a toll on him, we get to see a couple of times where Vanitas just falls down and vomits unversed out of his mouth. The only reason why he's even going along with his plan, why he is so obsessed in the game with fusing together with Ventus, is very simply because that's the only way Xehanort told him his pain can stop. It is basically a big suicide attempt, pretty much. There is much more about it, but that's the gist of it. The only moment where this is hinted in the game is after you beat him for the last time. It's the only moment where his facade breaks, and we see how truly desperate and scared he is as he tries to grasp for the x blade which is now breaking apart. Future games have slowly making this subtext into the text, both Vanitas' true mess of emotions and Xehanort's physical abuse too, possibly hinting at a future redemption.
@@skyeifer well, I dunno if they are being sold even now, they should be either online or in stores, but i know there is a big archive link with all of them on Tumblr somewhere, and specifically the Vanitas backstory since it's so out there and crazy was also preserved and shared via Google drive, which I found on Twitter, which is what I used to read it myself
- I think Terra is roughly...20? And Aqua is about 18, I think. - Xehanort's Letter shows that the Mark of Mastery exam was just another part of his gaslighting scheme. - Ven doesn't have as much Strength as Terra, or as much Magic as Aqua, but he has more Defense. So he's more of an all-arounder. - There's a timeline in-game that shows the canon sequence of events. Ven made it to Dwarf Woodlands about the same time that Terra did, which canonically is before he goes to Castle of Dreams - though Ven got to Castle of Dreams first (to help make Cinderella's dress). - Apparently, Ven misjudged the space of Castle of Dreams when he entered from the Lanes Between. Also, thank goodness the subtitles are translating Jaq's unique dialect. - Funny you mention the gummi ship - the Star Shard is said to be made of gummi, too. - Kinda funny that Ven has met the whole versions of almost everyone who would be in Organization XIII - Dilan, Aeleus, Even, Ienzo, Lea, and Isa at Radiant Garden, Xehanort from his past, Braig at the Keyblade Graveyard, Sora in the Dive Into The Heart...oh, and two others from elsewhen. - Yes, the wordplay with χ is intentional. To be fair, the journal explains that the χ-blade is the original weapon in the KH universe that Keyblades are inspired by. Also, the crossed Kingdom Keys forming the handle and handguard are reminiscent of the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. - "Poetic excuses!" Hah, Eraqus just lampshaded the flowery prose that so many KH antagonists spew in two little words. - No, Braig's eye wasn't yellow until the Keyblade Graveyard scene. His ears weren't as pointy as Xehanort's, either. - Even though there are lots of people who wield darkness, Vanitas is the only one we know of who's truly OF darkness. I guess that's another little difference between Heartless and Unversed - both are made of darkness, but their sources hail from different realms (light realm hearts for Heartless, and a dark realm being for Unversed). - Yeah, Vanitas gained a face that mimicked Sora when the newborn Sora's heart linked with Ven's. Oh, fun fact: the kanji for "sora" (空) can be read as "kara", which is JP for "emptiness".
Yes, we always like talking of Ven & Vani. Is cute, and at end Ven save him and become part of him or so, is how we understand. All together, and also all apart. is sometime difficult with persecutor, but is also make sense when old Xehanort is around, is sad that he got part of it too, but is okay when Terra can be part and save. Is how Wnb understand, and think is good picture how inner fight can be back-forth and still shine and bright picture of mind temple! - Wnbwi of Sva!
You did technically join party with Donald and Goofy! It's just that you didn't use the D-Link at all 🤣 I never used it at all on my first playthrough either. when I understood how it worked, I tried using it more. It's basically similar to a mix of Summons from KH1 and Forms from KH2. Some characters have unique commands that are pretty powerful, and while summoned you don't take HP damage, instead you shorten the duration of the summon. It's a powerful tool and very easy to recharge! Same as the Shotlock, you should definitely play around with those when you can
If you feel inclined to try, please do so! The game has a lot of fun side stuff, and a couple of hard but cool secret bosses you can only challenge once you've beaten the game with all three characters anyways, so there's definitely post-game content you might enjoy in your own time
I cant remember what happens in Aqua's route tbh. Might be because she's so magic focused and I prefer smacking things in the face lol. I'm so glad you enjoyed bbs! Its one of the best games in the series
I'm curious how you felt as a first-time player doing terra's route first. the general consensus has always been to do terra -> ventus -> aqua, but I think ventus's route actually benefits a lot from the mystery of *not* knowing what terra is doing. that's an opinion I've formed over the past like 10+ years since I first played BBS though haha so idr which way I even played the first time
oh yeah you actually got a point there. i wonder how everything would go if i had chosen ven's route first as well. how many times have you played bbs by the way? 🤣
@@skyeifer I think three times over the years? although as a kid I somehow never knew about the final episode haha so I never actually beat it until fairly recently
@@positive-stress disclaimerrrrr, i actually didn't know that i had to make a separate saved files for each route to get the secret ending so i had to watch and react from video on youtube 🥲
if you do end up playing crisis core i really recommend playing crisis core reunion instead of the original it has the new voices for ff7 remake but i love it still. plus there's more voice lines instead of like just the text captions for cutscenes in certain places

You're going to love Aqua's route and another thing in this game so much.
I LOVE AQUA'S ROUTE VERY MUCH! SHE'S SO OP!
"My friends are my power!" Ahh.. I love the many parallels between Sora and Ventus. They're both the purest of baby boys 💕
sora, ventus, and roxasssss uwuuuu! they're our precious bois! protect them at all costs!
