Thank you for this video it helped me today! I’m not sure which part without watching it all again but I remember this is one that helped in some way! For anyone that wants to use this (u1) as a pump that oxygenates their tank then you will need it slightly peeping out of the water for the Venturi to work. Also…. may need to remove the inside part of the foam (it’s removable and I had no idea why) but removing will increase the flow to get the oxygen flowing. Couldn’t even work out what max flow was without taking the nozzle off to see it shutting off and on. I learnt all this today through searching many many unboxing Videos and reviews. No help from fluvals videos for the U1. The Instructions that came with my filter were terrible and I lost a fish in the process. Glad I’ve got it working now. It’s like a totally different filter/pump to how I originally set it up with the instructions it came with
It’s amazing how much difference it makes. The cartridges are great for ease of use but Fluval recommends switching out the Carbon pads and filters every 4-6 weeks is too much, you can get that extra 20% by just making a few small changes! Looking forward to your next vid bud!
I have the same filter and did similar to this. Added more media but I removed the two sponge holders and just replaced them with as large a sponge that would fit in each section.
I like the U series, they are simple but really good! I thought about replacing the cartridges with as much sponge as possible, but I still quite like them so they can stay for now. I think in future I would replace them out to total sponge, maybe even with a couple of layers of different grade sponge. How often do you change out your filter floss?
@@sl30aquatics i got rid of the filter floss also. Found that the two sponges did enough to stop any small particles that there mite be. So much easier and faster to clean too.
Hi you know the purple cap at the top , can you open it slightly? I done that and it seems to of increased the air and water flow just wondering if it’s ok to do?
Thanks Cooper Aquatics, your support is really appreciated- thanks for giving me that shout out a couple weeks back!! Loving what you do for the Fish fam!
@@sl30aquatics im just getting started my friend 👍🔥💯 I work so much and watch my grandkids most of the week after work so it's hard to do the TH-cam stuff as much as I would like
I totally get it! It can be really difficult to fit it in! This year is going to be year of growth for me...100 subs and 50 vids by the end of summer is the goal!

Next time use the discarded carbon filter as a template to cut out the filter floss
There's specialized floss filters too. Like phosphate, etc. For applications for too much algae and such. Check it out
