I’m annoyed that I will never get to retire or move to a lovely place like this as I had to spend my 401k and savings on my mother’s nursing home. So appreciate what you have.
We do...and no place is truly perfect, but it is lovely here, most days. Never say never... my mom used to tell me that things are always changing, be hopeful. Thanks for watching!
We just fled to The Free State of Florida from the Glorious Peoples State of Taxifornia. We lived in our Class A RV in Leesburg for 2 months while looking for our forever home. The Villages was a hard pass. We love nature and space. The Villages have people stacked up like cordwood unless you are a millionaire. Our new home in Highland Lakes is a nature preserve. Its about 100 feet our nearest rear neighbor.
Thanks for always being honest! They DO indeed need to update the flooring… p.s., nobody has the right to pollute the air that everyone else needs to breathe. Smoking needs to go elsewhere where it can’t negatively effect others…
We all do enjoy living here in Tv!! We moved two years ago and love every minute of it!!! We agree it can be so crowded but we want to share it with everyone who visits here!!!
My pet peeves are the cigar smoke wafting from the outdoor areas of restaurants in the town squares and the unpredictability of drivers of both cars and golf carts. I've never had to watch out for other drivers more vigilantly than I have to when driving in the Villages. I also find it annoying when people tell you to go back where you came from if you criticize anything about this place. Some people want to believe it's all sunshine, rainbows and unicorns.😂 If you point out any flaw or something that could be improved, it's as if you've attacked them personally. I'm not sure why that is. Insecurities perhaps?Nevertheless, despite the flaws, I think all in all it's a pretty nice place to live.
I can add another complaint, I thought the rec centers with the small indoor gym was included in your amenity fee, but it is not cost extra to use it !!
We hear so many great things about The Villages, but to be aware and make informed decisions, both sides of the story are important to hear, especially if you are thinking of moving there. The information is very much appreciated.
If you are a little handy you can add a beeper to the turn signals on your cart to nag you to turn them off. Just do some searching on how to do it since it may vary a bit with different brands. I got a pack of beepers for about $7 off amazon. Another trick is to change the mirrors so they have flashing lights you can see that should get your attention plus they help make your cart more visible when turning. Those cost anywhere from about $60-$120 depending and take a little more wiring to install. As for it getting a little cool in the winter here that is true. I have not had to shovel snow or scape front on my windshield so I'm still happy.
We moved from Vegas, that is busy compared to here. My son,s restaurant’s in Ohio are busy 1-1.5 hour wait without reservation. I am amazed that you didn’t noticed the cement structure of the dance floor in the town squares. Drivers here are a whole lot better than Vegas where you have more of a foreign presence with different ways to drive. So for every negative you have, I can share the sane experience else where.
All the congestion and the rude drivers bother me. We have a place in South Florida close to Boca Raton. Everything is really out of hand here!! I can relate! Blessings to you both Kristy and Dave, you both seem like a lovely couple😊❤
Well.... thank you so much! It's not all peaches and cream here but 80% is good! We will do a video on the best things about The Villages soon. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
We are here now for a month, and yes, we have discovered those bumps as the multi modals path transition over the gate crossings. It's horrible. and the smoking whether it's cigarettes or cigars, ugh, it is all bad.
I completely agree with you about the NO sidewalks!!! In some subdivisions or villages is a safety problem and a great danger to walkers !!!!! Where I live there’s a very sharp bend and if you’re walking around it to get to other places to walk many of the drivers will drive very fast around the bend so you always have to watch out be ready to jump out of the way off the road into somebody’s grassy yard.
Deep in the neighborhood there are no sidewalks but they are mostly wide streets. On major arteries there are sidewalks. But sometimes you need to use a tunnel to cross a major road such as Morse Road.
I don’t live here yet. But I heard people outside the villages can go to your entertainment and shops. Maybe they are part of the reason it gets so overcrowded during the winters. The snowbirds do that all over Florida. Have been living in Florida f 34 years and snowbirds have there seasons here. Streets stores restaurants hotels in south fl and Tampa areas where I live are so over crowded in the snowbird season. You get used to it.
Interesting--especially the part that some don't turn their turn signals OFF after turning and thereby confuse others in golf carts. Who knew? Thank you!
I’m surprised that there isn’t more emphasis on safety in a place that’s designed for older people. And aren’t E bikes especially dangerous? around here, there is always a major fire caused by someone’s e-bike battery
Many problems stem from residents, visitors or guests who are not aware of or ignore the rules/common practices. The multi-modal is pretty wide in most places to accomadate both bikes and carts. We don't feel ebikes are dangerous but you do need to be smart about how/where you store your batteries and using the wrong charger.
We agree with you there are some major safety gaps like large signs blocking the sight-line on a turn. There are some tight corners that are darn right dangerous! Thanks for watching!
Moved here from Las Vegas, worked on the Strip. The crowds and traffic here are minor to me. E-bikes and regular bikes do not signal , do not stop and a few e- bikes speed.
Yes, of course there’s always some bicycles that don’t signal just as there’s cars that don’t signal or signal incorrectly I’ve seen over 50% of the golf cart signal to turn right and then they go straight ahead, etc..
The good thing about houses closer together is there is less yard to mow, and if people don’t have children anymore, you don’t really need the yard to play in and it cost more property tax. I believe if you have more yard.
@@IGoWhereYouGo many people have lived in row houses and townhouses and have had no problems in other places. One can have problems with neighbors next to you with the yard just as well. Also, half or more of the villages leaves for the summer so you won’t hear them anyway next to you. :)
And it is not The Villages, it's the people. So many people moving here, something is bound to go slightly wrong. People moving in from all over. Just hope it always stays nice.
Anyone that has moved to the Villages after the early 1990's and complains about it being too crowded are hypocrites! It is crowded because people are moving and visiting the same as the person that moved did!
Ha! Maybe you are right!! It's funny... when we first moved here in February we didn't mind the crowds or really notice but then they left in the summer and it was really quiet.
As the south grows so will it be busy anyone who shops for a home knows the growth is coming. Look up north or in the middle and the growth has stopped. IMO it is not busy here compared to where we moved from.
We signed another lease so we will be here for another year. We also checked out more 55 Plus communities just last week. Still searching! Thanks for watching!
My pet peeve is the Anonymous complaint system. All complainers should be required to give thier lot number. This would eliminate nonresident and make sure they live in the neighborhood. Also limit it to one complaint per day.
If you follow the deed restrictions, you have nothing to worry about. Deed restrictions help maintain the look of the neighborhood. The anonymous complaint system prevents harassment and retaliation if there's a valid complaint. I don't think too many people are driving around just looking for stuff to report In other words, the two old "biddies" in a golf car with a clipboard don't really exist.
@@mosulmosel I’ve never seen the two biddies in a golf cart with the clipboard looking for complaints!! 🤣 I agree with keeping complaints anonymous because if it was not anonymous, people would be too afraid to complain because some people are really crazy and would try to get back at them. Limiting the complaint one person makes would be fine though per week or whatever.

We may check that out! So true about the closeness here and we aren't having much luck.
The good far outweighs the annoyances here!! But go ahead and vent alittle down below if you need to!
I noticed how close the houses are and postage size yards. I was wondering if you can hear neighbors hvac?
Yes. They are pretty close.
