1. you don't need to learn all of these kanji, and the reason these people know them is because they may come across them and remember them because they have a wide knowledge of radicals. 2. kanji has a future, have you ever tried to read a whole paragraph of hiragana without spaces? It is extremely difficult. So if there is a difficult kanji in a book they can just put hiragana above it. 3. Kanji is just pretty cool in general as an artform and literary system.

some of those kanji i would not know how to pronounce japanese kanji is so hard chinese is so much easier.
