Home Free has this great guys-hanging-out vibe, a kind of brotherhood that does fantastic work, but knows how to have fun. Pentatonix has the choir nerd vibe. A love for the dramatic, appreciation for complex arrangements and charmingly earnest. I love them both. If they were dogs, Home Free would be an athletic but social yellow lab and PTX would be a...Floof. Kidding. I think border collie. Insane work ethic, a little high strung but incredibly loyal and accepting.
Drama, did you notice that right after they talk about "ham sammich" that Tim's in the background eating the sandwich looking like a chipmunk and when they start into their "Fat Bottomed Girls" segment, he's headbanging? LOL!
Voice Play, PTX, and Home Free are all next level groups that have different styles of how they present a song/video. Personally, I prefer HF but that doesn’t mean I dislike or think the others are any less entertaining.
I know I'm kind of late to the game on this one, but, that is what it is I guess! 😂 Nonetheless, I think this may very well be my favorite reaction from you...I don't know that I have ever seen you more animated and relaxed and into a reaction, for lack of a better description! Well done! 😊❤❤❤
This is such a fun medley and video, it always makes me smile. I'm glad you enjoyed it too. It's such a great showcase for both their fun side and their talents. I've seen Tim Foust quoted as saying, "It's possible to like apples and oranges," and certainly all the popular acappella groups that came from the Sing-Off seem to get on well and respect each other as musicians and performers. I like your attitude and I'm sure they would as well.
One of the things we Home Fries love about Home Free is their humor and humility! They are true live entertainers and engage the crowd whether it be a serious song, or just being goofy, as they did with this song. We love all sides of them! I would love to see you react to their rendition of “How Great Thou Art”. It’s done beautifully by them! Also, “Seven Bridges Road” cover is awesome! That speaks volumes from me since I’v always loved the Eagles’ cover because I’m a big fan of the Eagles!!
Home Free started out soul/pop, now more country-ish/soul/pop They did an awesome *RING OF FIRE* w/Avi/then Ptx collab. all friends, been to each others' concerts Both are the top 2 Best Selling/Most Viewed All Vocal Bands in the world, Ptx more pop, so more popular, but Home Free has global fans, both do sold-out global tours Home Free-all very tall, funny, all lead singers, songwriters, arrangers, multi-instrumentalists, Tim Foust/long hair/super-bass has a 5 octave range/amazing writer/wordplay, Adam Rupp-best-in-the-biz-beatboxer bboxes a full concert + 10 min. solo, can play many instruments, etc..Uber-talented guys.😊
Voiceplay is my absolute favorite, but I also really enjoy Home Free and Pentatonix. They are all incredibly talented in their own right. If someone complains about another person liking more than one of them, then they seriously need to re-evaluate their lives! There is nothing wrong with appreciating all three and doesn't make you any less of a fan of any of them! I would love to see more Voiceplay reactions, but I do enjoy the HF and PTX ones too. Great reaction to a really funny video. Btw, just a side note, Layne (the beatboxer from Voiceplay) helped them arrange this remix and Geoff (Voiceplay's bass) did the arrangement for Home Free's Elvira. :)
I consider myself a Pentaholic and a Home Fry. I love them both. The only difference is that I discovered Pentatonix first before I discovered Home Free. They both have a place in my heart, no need to compare them.
Adam is an UNBELIEVABLE beatboxer. I know amongst Home Fries he gets a lot of credit, but he deserves just as much adulation as Kevin from PTX. I mean, they're both INSANE. Neither group would be anywhere without them. Still talented, but their beatboxers give them such full sounds. Like, you don't miss any instruments because of them.
I like your point of view... there’s no need to choose who’s better. Home Free and PRX are different and I love them both. I was worried about your reaction at first because you looked so serious...:then a smile. Then a bigger smile and you had to replay a little bit of the video. I loved it!
Yeah, couldn't imagine Pentatonix doing this song in a million years! Which is why I firmly believe it's totally okay to love both them and Home Free equally - they're like the Yin and Yang of acapella brilliance, and you gotta have both for the universe to be in balance... or something. 😁
Both groups are distinctive in their own way. Both groups have worked hard to help make a cappella mainstream listening and have done an amazing job, though I would like to hear more of both groups on the radio. How boring would life be if music had to sound the same way.
Pentatonix, Home Free, Voiceplay, and Voctave can all coexist... and they're all on my regular playlists. For more Home Free, take a listen to "My Church" or "Go Rest High On That Mountain" for more of their soulful side, then bounce over to "Dive Bar Saints" or "Leave This Town" for some original work, and finish off with some more of their fun videos with "Sold!" and (a personal favorite) "Hillbilly Bone." That's one of the things I enjoy about Home Free, it's not just one repetitive style with the predictable part distribution. We get to see Tim take the lead on songs just as often as Rob and Austin these days, hehe
Also Face Vocal Band and BYU Vocal Point: th-cam.com/video/ABB70Iwk_jc/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/ice56rHPyUM/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/-gtHpgMdndk/w-d-xo.html. Love them all.
I agree you cant say who is better ..it's like #1 and #1A...lol...both so talented..we fans are lucky..You should check out "Can't Stop the Feeling" and "Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On"
The best part is... you can choose BOTH! The overlap between Pentaholics and Home Fries is about 95%. (Taking into account that 99% of statistics are made up on the spot.)
Such a fun medley, love the look on your face when you saw the guy at the end, I can't remember if he is their manager, arranger or what, but he works with them.
I love them both home free just sings more songs I relate to its impossible for me to compare them these groups are just plan out outstanding in what they do
Most of us are just plain music nerds. You don't turn on your Spotify and ONLY listen to one album or band. Many of us support all music, or at least a wide variety. Home free and PTX are gateway leading to a huge rabbit hole of music. Peter Hollins, Todrick Hall, Voctave, Voice Play, and the more you go down, the more there is. Its a bottomless tunnel. Enjoy each song and artist for the variety of styles.
I love them both. And for the same reasons. Also, check out Peter Hollens. He is a one-man a Capella choir and has done two songs with all of Home Free and almost ten videos with just Tim (super-bass).
Totally enjoyed that!!! ---- No reason ya can't love both; always said "to each their own", so no harm no foul! ---- Find what is pleasing to your ear........ and give it a go --- at your leisure. Isn't that what music is all about anyway!?!
Right? These guys are just a lot of fun and so talented. You can't like one (PTX or HF) over the other because they are apples and oranges even though they are both acapella. You have to keep them both because they offer so much talent, fun and ear candy in their own rights. Loved this reaction!
I enjoy both groups. They are both skilled in their own styles, and I enjoy a wide variety of genres. I’ve now seen both live, and enjoyed both equally for different reasons. Home Free feels more like people I’d hang out with. Both groups have a habit making me enjoy songs that I didn’t like the original versions of.
You shouldn't have to pick a group. Like them both, there are others out there who do. The hard core fanatics will just have to live with it. I'd like to suggest Woman Amen/Female. It's a newer mashup and it's pretty good to my ear. Love The comedy in The Butts Remix, it's good when you need a giggle. Thanks! ^_^
HomeFree is AMAZING!!! They can cross genres and you just seen that. Pentatonix is amazing as well, but country is my genre so I love HomeFree even more :D
There's no reason you can't be both a Pentaholic and a Home Fry. I am and a lot of others are too. They are similar but not the same. Both are awesome at what they do.
Why choose? Both groups are extremely talented and are at the top of their craft. This isn’t football where you have to choose your team and stick with them for life... u less you move. Then you have 1 year to decide if you are swapping allegiances. (Lol) seriously... if I were handed tickets to see both groups, I would be seeing both. You do you
I know what you mean about the groups. I love both groups, but I do admit, I follow Home Free more...but it really depends on my mood and what I listen to as to which group I pick.
With Pentatonix, I do like them, but most of the songs they do I've had to look up the original cause I'd never heard it, and the originals often don't do much for me, and when that happens, it just takes too much for the cover to speak for me ( usually ) Enter Home Free with their silliness and just totally warm selves, doing all the country stuff I grew up with so that a lot of what they do, I'm like omg I remember singing that with Mam-ma, or oooo mom would like the way they did that. I'll always support both because they're both insanely talented groups, but Home Free are my bros.
I think both groups are equally great, just different from one another. I like Home Free’s variety of genres and their ability to sound, often times, even better than the original song they’re covering. I enjoy PTX but prefer HF as my personal preference. Thanks for another great reaction!
Naw... dont pick a group, unless you choose to! I love them all! I have only been to Home Free concerts, because I still can afford them, where as the price of the PTX tix are way beyond my means.... that's why there is You Tube, right? Thanks for this reaction! One of my favorite Home Free songs is their cover of MayDay... if you havent seen it, you should since you know the guys' "usual" vocal ranges, it is surprising.
I love Pentatonix and I love Home Free as well. I tend to see Pentatonix as "artistes" while Home Free are "entertainers", so different 'specializations' if you will, and they are the best ones respectively.
refer back to my comment on your first video of these guys about not putting them in a box and it should all make sense now......what makes them extra special is they can cross genre so well...and they can do this kind of "Fun & Whimsical" performance like this (and a few others I am sure you will find... another suggestion is if you have heard enough of them to appreciate and expect that deep rich bass Tims bring to the group (and because I love to watch your eyes get big as dinner plates..lol) you should check out their cover of Cam - Mayday (Home Free Cover) let's just say its great like pretty much everything they do but it has a little surprise to it... I also suggest "IF" you really want to appreciate how good these guys are with their support music you need to experience man of constant sorrow...the thing is it is VERY easy with these guys to "FORGET" its ALL ACCAPELLA..every wound you hear is created with their 5 moths....keep that in your mind then go listen to that it honestly should have your mind saying HUH? how can that be? lol anyway continue to enjoy your HF journey bud...
With the Christmas season on the way check out. Home Free on, Do You Hear What I Hear, Go Where I Send Thee ( with Kenny Rogers) and just for a laugh Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer.
Pentaholics are often also home Fries and another way around. In my opinion they are almost even in abilities. Ptx goes in perfection and style - home free is more playful and fun. I think ptx had to fight to establish a capella as modern music, thats why they had to be more than perfect. Their playful side is superfruit. As home free entered the stage lauter, they could benefit from that.
If you're looking for more laughs, try their take on "Al About That Bsss" In fact, there's a behind-the-scenes video out on that one. It'll have you ROFL! th-cam.com/video/BuyGVhQFLbs/w-d-xo.html
Another great reaction! :-D Just in case you might be wondering about the guy in the scanty clothing at the end (grin), he goes by the name of Buegs (Eric Buegler), and he's a long-long-time friend of Ron's (by the way, so you don't get any type of a wrong perception about that friendship, it's just that...Rob is married to a wonderful woman and they now have two lovely children -- a little girl and a little boy). Rob and Buegs have a special podcast: www.theavidindoorsmen.com/ One of my favorite things they have done together, though, is on a recording for another one of my favorite groups (a duo): The Hound + The Fox (the + stands for "and" in this case). I would love it if you would react to the following song: "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" (from The Lion King, Cover by The Hound + The Fox, Narrated by The Avid Indoorsmen) th-cam.com/video/pSeKB-gqFvU/w-d-xo.html Look out, though, because they are probably going to lead you down another rabbit hole. Reilly and McKenzie Zamber used to be one of the production companies who made quite a lot of Home Free's videos, and were even featured in one: "Thinking Out Loud / Let's Get It On" (by Ed Sheeran and Marvin Gaye--Cover by Home Free) th-cam.com/video/Mm9G-tWrxNs/w-d-xo.html If you watch that one, you MAY also want to watch the preamble to it, made and sung by Reilly and McKenzie... "Thinking Out Loud" (by Ed Sheeran--Cover by The Hound + The Fox) th-cam.com/video/cwgE1WnWTO0/w-d-xo.html
I’ve watched a lot of HF reaction videos. There’s one common denominator. The reactor smiles the entire time!
It's so fun to watch these guys having so much fun.
The thing I find strange about these guys is... I don't miss instruments on their trax. Their sound is so full.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😎😍✌🏽Home Free always makes you Happy and wanting to hangout with them!!!
Fun fact: this venue was used on the same weekend to also record “Thinking Outloud” to which you also reacted
Lol I can't watch this song with out laughing my ass off. Always makes my day
Home Free has this great guys-hanging-out vibe, a kind of brotherhood that does fantastic work, but knows how to have fun. Pentatonix has the choir nerd vibe. My only complaint about your reactions is that I can't decide whether to watch the video or your face! LOL
Voice Play, PTX, and Home Free are all next level groups that have different styles of how they present a song/video. Personally, I prefer HF but that doesn’t mean I dislike or think the others are any less entertaining.
I love to see ppl react to this song. 😂😂😂 It is always hilarious! ❤ Home Free is just stellar, hands down!
Love them! They are a lot of fun!!!
I'm a proud Pentaholic and a proud Home Fry 🤷♀️
I know I'm kind of late to the game on this one, but, that is what it is I guess! 😂 Nonetheless, I think this may very well be my favorite reaction from you...I don't know that I have ever seen you more animated and relaxed and into a reaction, for lack of a better description! Well done! 😊❤❤❤

You have to view their countrified pop medley..17 pop songs..mixed masterfully. And In The Blood. thx
I consider myself a Pentaholic and a Home Fry. I love them both. The only difference is that I discovered Pentatonix first before I discovered Home Free. They both have a place in my heart, no need to compare them.
I am a Pentaholic and a Home Fry as well! I really like their version of Man of Constant Sorrow
same, pentaholic and Home fry here!!!
As I always say, I'm a pentaholic home fry!!
IMHO home free smokes pentx I put voice play before pentx
Me too. I also like Voice Play. They're all different and it works.
They are both equally skilled just different "lanes" and skillsets.
Adam is an UNBELIEVABLE beatboxer. I know amongst Home Fries he gets a lot of credit, but he deserves just as much adulation as Kevin from PTX. I mean, they're both INSANE. They like each other, support each other, and consider each other as friends, not competitors.
Love 'em both!!! Love these guys' talent and sense of humor! For harmony overdose, try their cover of Helplessly Hoping..... amazing.
Both groups are distinctive in their own way. Both groups have worked hard to help make a cappella mainstream listening and have done an amazing job, though I would like to hear more of both groups on the radio. How boring would life be if music had to sound the same way.

I clicked soooo fast! Their cover of Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" is also hilarious! But I'm so glad you did this video ... thanks.
If you enjoy the humorous/utterly phenomenal acapella.... please check out voice play.... they, like home free, are brilliant! Thankyou
The groups are different and I love them both. Home Free uses family and friends in their videos.
I agree you cant say who is better ..it's like #1 and #1A...lol...both so talented..we fans are lucky..You should check out "Can't Stop the Feeling" and "Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On"

So glad you did this. They are fun! You should try Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. Look for the Avi cameo.
I love them both home free just sings more songs I relate to its impossible for me to compare them these groups are just plan out outstanding in what they do
You seemed to smile a bit more on this reaction video than on others I've seen of yours. 😆
Most of us are just plain music nerds. You don't turn on your Spotify and ONLY listen to one album or band. Many of us support all music, or at least a wide variety. It's like having to choose between your two favorite types of wine. Cheers!
Glad you finally got to this one. They have so much fun with this mix.
"Smorgasbord of Butts". Best description from a reactor ever. :)
I don't see why someone that enjoys acapella music couldn't enjoy both groups because they are both great at what they do really.
I saw them last month in Dallas..... they are just as impressive LIVE....amazingly talented!
This is so much fun. For me the PTX comparison is apples and oranges and I enjoy both. Never felt the need to compare.
Totally enjoyed that!!! ---- No reason ya can't love both; always said "to each their own", so no harm no foul! ---- Find what is pleasing to your ear........ and give it a go --- at your leisure. Isn't that what music is all about anyway!?!
They have so much fun with their videos -- they are hilarious.
The beat boxer is amazing!
They do some fun stuff too, very entertaining guys all around.
Just enjoy them both!!!
These guys are so talented.
Right? These guys are just a lot of fun and so talented. You can't like one (PTX or HF) over the other because they are apples and oranges even though they are both acapella. You have to keep them both because they offer so much talent, fun and ear candy in their own rights. Loved this reaction!
Really enjoyed this home free xmas music is fantastic also you need to watch that to
Thanks to my daughter I've seen both Home Free and Pentatonix. She likes Pentatonix more while I prefer Home Free. Both groups are phenomenal though.
They are a fantastic A Capella group and I think you should try Their cover of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire featuring Avi Kaplan
I've already done that one
Thanks! ^_^
I am a proud Home Fried Pentaholic!
Gryffenne I’m a hardcore Pentafry!
I agree! I am also a PentaFry. I saw PTX in concert last year and I will be seeing Home Free in concert next year (I hope!).
Love when Tim is eating the ham sandwich ...
Most people like me love them both. Don't forget to try to react to Citizen Queen they are like Pentatonix's baby sister as Scott put them together.
I like to call fans of both groups PentaFries
Have watched a few of your Home Free reactions now and love them! New subscriber!!! Can't wait to see what you react to next 😀
You do you
The guy dancing in the overalls at the end is a friend of Rob's and they do a pod cast together about movies.
Try Country Fried Pop ! 17 songs and 15 artist mash up. You will enjoy
I know what you mean about the groups. I love both groups, but I do admit, I follow Home Free more...but it really depends on my mood and what I listen to as to which group I pick.

this is my first time hearing this song an I cant stop laughing I love this mix song
I kept looking back and forth between them and you. I was getting a little worried because you hadn't smile! Holding back was a dirty trick 😂
I think I consider myself a PentaFry? Love them both :D
I think both groups are equally great, just different from one another. I like Home Free’s variety of genres and their ability to sound, often times, even better than the original song they’re covering. I enjoy PTX but prefer HF as my personal preference. Thanks for another great reaction!
This was too too good
LMAO!! That was good!
Naw... dont pick a group, unless you choose to!
Anyone else see Tim head banging at the beginning of Fat Bottom Girls? Far right side, it goes quick, check it out.
This is fun video.❤️
I agree it's hard and I think we shouldn't have to choose, I'm a PENTAFRY :)
I love Pentatonix and I love Home Free as well. I tend to see Pentatonix as "artistes" while Home Free are "entertainers", so different 'specializations' if you will, and they are the best ones respectively.
I would be disappointed in a fellow Pats fan, but it also took me a second watch of the video to notice Tim's Pats shirt.
refer back to my comment on your first video of these guys about not putting them in a box and it should all make sense now......what makes them extra special is they can cross genre so well...and they can do this kind of "Fun & Whimsical" performance like this (and a few others I am sure you will find...
another suggestion is if you have heard enough of them to appreciate and expect that deep rich bass Tims bring to the group (and because I love to watch your eyes get big as dinner plates..lol) you should check out their cover of Cam - Mayday (Home Free Cover) let's just say its great like pretty much everything they do but it has a little surprise to it...
"Smorgasbord of butts." I'm pretty sure that's a non-metric measurement. (Appreciate you reppin' the Pats)
Please react to their countrified pop mash up
Ya think they had a good time making that video? They seem to have so much fun together.
As home free entered the stage lauter, they could benefit from that.
sorry to tell you this home free has been around a lot longer than ptx
I lost it at Ham Samich.
Words are not gonna cover my own reaction 🤭😳😂😏💕
If you're looking for more laughs, try their take on "Al About That Bsss" In fact, there's a behind-the-scenes video out on that one. It'll have you ROFL! th-cam.com/video/BuyGVhQFLbs/w-d-xo.html
I was a pentatonix fan until HomeFree came out!! Pentatonix never came out with a Butts Remix!!
Copperhead Road by Steve Earle
Have you done one on their guilty pleasures?
I do not think it is a competition between ptx and hf. They like each other and both are awesome.
🌹🌹
Please react to their cover of Woman, Amen/female. It is not a Christian song, it was a Keith urban song. Thank you
I have been diving through some of your earlier vids and reactions. Is it possible to be a HomePentaFryHolic?
Or a Home Fried Pentaholic?
Another great reaction! :-D
Just in case you might be wondering about the guy in the scanty clothing at the end (grin), he goes by the name of Buegs (Eric Buegler), and he's a long-long-time friend of Ron's (by the way, so you don't get any type of a wrong perception about that friendship, it's just that...Rob is married to a wonderful woman and they now have two lovely children -- a little girl and a little boy).
Rob and Buegs have a special podcast: www.theavidindoorsmen.com/
One of my favorite things they have done together, though, is on a recording for another one of my favorite groups (a duo): The Hound + The Fox (the + stands for "and" in this case). I would love it if you would react to the following song:
"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" (from The Lion King, Cover by The Hound + The Fox, Narrated by The Avid Indoorsmen)

Look out, though, because they are probably going to lead you down another rabbit hole. Reilly and McKenzie Zamber used to be one of the production companies who made quite a lot of Home Free's videos, and were even featured in one:
"Thinking Out Loud / Let's Get It On" (by Ed Sheeran and Marvin Gaye--Cover by Home Free)

If you watch that one, you MAY also want to watch the preamble to it, made and sung by Reilly and McKenzie...
