  • How do you ship a 24,150-pound helicopter to Chile? On a roll-on/roll-off vessel! Billings Flying Service's CH-47D Chinook, used as a firefighting machine in the U.S., was recently loaded on a Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ocean vessel "Fedora" bound for Chile to fight wildfires in the summer months, which happens to be our December-February. As one of the heaviest lifting helicopters, the Chinook can lift up to 26,000 pounds or 2,600 gallons of water! Check out this video of the chopper landing at the East Blair One Terminal at the Port of Tacoma.
