  • In this episode of the Ruins and Petroglyphs series, we explore 5 separate compounds with total of 40 rooms! Each compound was built for a family and contained rooms for sleeping, storage and a courtyard for other activities such as cooking!
The largest ruin that sits on the hilltop, is made up of many extra rooms. The extra rooms were believed to be used for extra storage and the families down below to stay in during times of conflict. Another interesting thing about this site is that some of these rooms don't contain doors, and its believed that they were accessed from the roof. This ruin was also the most fortified, with walls a couple feet thick.
Its believed that these ruins were occupied from 1050 AD until later in the 1200s. Apparently by the 13/1400s this area was mostly abandoned.
