Do some of that exercise occasionally. It will help relieve a little pressure.

Thank you very much but I find that it works Best for me when I buzz my lips and the mouthpiece and the horn in the same register as it is written in your book. My facial muscles got stronger which allowed me to use less pressure.

Thank you for sharing this! I got your book, it's very useful and I really like how it's structured!
How often would you do this method? Every other day? Daily? From time to time?
And how would you expand it higher? Go up one note a week like in your book, or faster?
    Thanks a lot!

First thank you for buying the book. Really good question. Do it once in awhile just to get the feel back of less pressure. Just a little less pressure goes a long way. Trying to play with very little pressure can have lots of negative effects. This exercise is a good way to relieve a little pressure without the bad side effects.

That's interesting That's not what carmine told me I was expecting more kind of por attacks por berets saport you wrought a book ?

Thanks for writing me Patrick. If you get a chance I would love to learn about what Carmine told you. Carmine was very leary about writing a book. He felt everyone was different. As you know he would teach each student as an individual. Some lessons he would ask the student to start the note without the use of the tongue. Some of the ways he would he get you to start the note was to say Ku or Pu or just blow air through the trumpet.
One example is when he would make you hold the low F#. At times he would make you just blow air while bringing the trumpet to the lips. The note at first would be only air but then the lips would adjust and vibrate then, the low F# came into focus. That made your lips vibrate and produce a good sound. This exercise also helped bring blood flow into the lips.
      Sincerely, Ralph Davella

@ralphdavella554 yes sir it was my first time in New yourk city what I think is the missing bilding blok is (as you know) carmine had perfect pitch) so one of the most important things to me is( carmine stated) most trumpet players play sharp) so carmine would use him hand and lower the pitch bering you back in to pitch center Bob Finley told me the exact same thing I do not hav perfect pitch so I use a good tuner unfortunately most of my perfeshen experience is in the army band and the players in the section are bran dead I allso use a metronome to help me git in time but I'm sher you know all this and it must totally pis you of when sumbudy says the Caruso method dos not work respectful I think Mr Bob Finley is the authority I hav not read your book all so on your mouthpiece thing ther was a gentleman who had a metal attachment that was on a rail mouthpiece in slid out on rail doc severance indoerced this book unfortunately my ex wife and her brother's stoll all that so if you whant just small rail velcro on horn brase mouthpiece hole and place mouthpiece in hole the horn will stay stel and you slid mouthpiece but I stell think this is a whast don't mean to be a pric I ges I'm just giting grumpy in my old age so I only study with carmine from 1982 1983 but if I could do it all over I do things differently my Bob Finley has allwas been very kind to me thanks

@@patrickcolwell4202 Thanks for the info. I would have loved to have taken lessons with Mr. Finley but I never had the chance. Also you are right Caruso had perfect pitch and that is very rare. Thanks again.

@patrickcolwell4202 My (late) instructor also studied with Caruso. That's why I know the _Calisthenics for Brass_ leaves out so much.
