The results are definitely dependent on content and it's relation to the larger galley of work. As an illustrator, I have a picture that, when boosted for a single day at $4, landed me 14 new followers. Even when I spend $2 on a single day for that post, I can net another 10 followers. I use a custom audience, and I focus my efforts world wide. That's the good thing about illustration. It's purely visual and doesn't need to rely on language or translation.

@@joaosdrawings523 I wish I could figure out the logic. I just boosted one picture for $5, and it pulled in 50 new followers. But that's a rarity. Like what determines the reach when you boost? I've seen anything from 1200-4000 people for the reach. Like what gets you to 4000 in that case? Is it the likes? Or just interaction in general?
I tried booting a post the other day, for a 2 day period. The reach estimate I was given was in the 10's of thousands. It actually only reached just over 1000 people. And the "pending period", where they assess if the post is suitable, lasted about a day. And it seemed that it was taken out of my 2 day period that I paid for. So it really only got boosted for 1 day. I didn't think it was worth it.
haha I spent $75 on Instagram boost and my Instagram following went from 5,000 to 11,000 in less than 30 days, I'm just going to go ahead and agree with you and say yeah your girl Stacy. probably just doesn't have a lot of great helpful entertaining amusing or funny content. so yeah no one's going to want to really follow her Instagram page.

I think the most important things are being a specialist or an expert in the thing that you are speaking about. and also having decent quality video, other than that I really don't think there is much more to it. Because if your an expert or specialist there are going to be people in the category that want to know what you know. I really think it's just that simple.
i agree, 80% of the time it's about the content, no matter what ad campaign you run if your content isn't good you're not going to get a lot of engagements or follows.
Automatic option is terrible. If you make your own audience type, it will be way way better. PLus by optimising your profile conversion rate, it will improve. But honestly, don't use automatic function. It's just bad. In our experience atlest.
I agree making your own audience is better . Automatic used to be trash for me but now that I’ve grown more it actually knows who to show my posts to better now I get more reach that way now depending on the post

I second this comment. I am an artist and whenever I boost my art I get a lot of new followers a day, and I only spend up to 5$ a day.

Boost posts is definitely faster and easier to do, but if you want to get more precise, you should definitely experiment with Instagram ads!
