- COLONIAL HOMES OF SILAY: BERNARDINO JALANDONI MUSEUM One such address in Silay is the colonial home of Bernardino and Ysabel Jalandoni. Built in 1908, and popularly known as the “Pink House”, today it stands as a museum. The preservation of its exterior architecture reflects the upkeep of its interiors. Original furniture pieces and furnishings offer students of design stunning period specimens. The embossed tin tiles on the ceiling have to be unique to the property.
A someone who was born and lives in the Philippines, it's so beautiful to see how passionate others are in their love for things/homes/culture from previous eras and how dedicated they are in preserving it.
We have enough brutalist & modern architecture wc I kind of find soulless. If only more people (& the government!!) would be able to preserve and restore them, even more so, art from our pre-colonial era.
Thanks so much for featuring their home & family! You can definitely feel the joy, nostalgia and love in Lolo's eyes and voice
I really like colonial houses

I really want to visit the heritage houses in Silay and one of my priorities when I visit Bacolod . Are there any other heritage house that’s open to the public ?
Silay has many houses open to visitors. You can just go to their local DOT office and they can assist you.
❤❤❤
.....☝❤✌👍💪😁🇵🇭
Is Leni Robredo a part of your family? The house must be preserve its a great heritage anyway
As per the narrative, this house was painted pink many many years ago (in the 1930s) because it is the preferred color of the owner.
Good thing the community didn't agree to the road widening because it will destroy majority of the beautiful heritage houses lining the road. The govt should value the beauty of these houses and reinforce historical appreciation for it.
