The difference between this show and other Shonen Protagonists is that Tanjiro shows natural growth. If anything, Muichiro becoming a Hashira within two months is more of a typical Shonen trope. One of the reasons I love Demon Slayer is the main character isn't just OP from the start. Even when he unlocks the Hinokami Kagura, he is far from over powered. It even recks his body after using it at first. It took him over a year of training and fighting upper moons to reach the level he is at now in this arc.

saying hashira is a 10 isnt really appliable, cause there is such a big difference between the hashiras. gyomei claps his hands and all the hashiras look absolutely terrified. At this point, tanjiro is definitely far stronger then the npc , but he is nowhere near hashira level, as he struggled against tengen, who was hardly trying, is retired, and is used to dual wielding but was using 1 sword in the fight.

Without a doubt Tanjiro should have been promoted to Hashira, I don't know if he has killed 50 demons by now but he's personally killed several aspects of a higher moon and has contributed by majority to the killing of several other lower and higher moon demons. He's one of the only "rookies" that can go toe to toe with the Hashiras by power.
