Great video. Sandpaper with bare hands on a newly cut metal edge.....A hair's breadth from an awful outcome. A flat file is required, which can be scraped along to remove any burrs and sharp bits. But thanks so much for your video. Its very useful, despite the "is he really doing that?" moments.
BEST window installment video I've seen so far! Thank you so much. That trick with drilling the 2 holes in the cardboard to use on the outside is genius! Also, I LOVE all your pet text bubbles. Hilarious!
Thank you for installing confidence in me lol I mean if you can do it... No hard feelings or whatever just that I've seen videos where they do it all perfect and be pros and I'm about what I saw you do lol so again thank you
I just subscribed. I appreciate the details on what you did, your ongoing considerations while doing it, your worries and mistakes, and the products and tools you used. And also your sense of humor while doing it all. This was actually the best fan and window install video I have seen (and I've seen quite a few). It definitely makes me less scared to do my own. Thanks!
Nice ep. I like your cool mix of business and sparky editing. I have no intention of ever converting a van but it is interesting to watch it being done.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch. Since I work in production for a living, I figured I'd try to make these information heavy episodes as entertaining as possible.
@15:55 -- Bet he knows that many refer to Butyl tape as Monkey Sheit. In the Navy we used it in poop sized balls to wrap around cables that went through bulkheads.
Watched one of your other videos about your shower walls that had non-galvanized metal and you weren't happy with it. I have 2 options for you, clean the panels with 0000 Steel Wool to remove the rust and wax the panels with car wax. Number 2, remove the rust, then paint on the clear liquid ceramic coating they sell for cars, it's expensive, but you should only have to do it once. I'm cheap, so I'd wax it, then use a DA buffer on it to make those wslls rust proof and so slick, a drop of wster would run right off. Liked your van tour.
Hey I think the ripples would not be there if the windows were higher up. The motion windows site explains how the narrow windows like you have are flat, but the bigger windows (with more height) are curved due to the curve in that part of the van.
Just wondering if Trent was the mountain-biker vanlife youtuber you got the templates from... I've heard him talking about templates in one of his vids
Thank you for making a van build entertaining! I appreciate your candid honesty about the reno/build/expectations vs reality! I really like your channel!
Great video! One question. Just installed bunk windows myself, and experienced the same wrinkle issue. When you added the backing wooden plate, did the wrinkles come out?
Hey! Just subscribed to your channel, I’m starting a van build and working on installing a window (CR Lawrence brand onto a 2019 promaster passenger sliding door). Having a lot of trouble figuring out the screws we were given and I see you used both adhesive and then screwed everything in at the end. Mind if I ask about the screws? Is it the metal frame to the main window frame?
My windows came with two pieces. A frame with the window in it and a trim ring. The frame has a flange where I attached the butyl to keep moisture from getting in the van. It also serves as an adhesive. Once the window frame is placed in level, I took the trim ring and attached directly to the window frame with the screws provided. As you tighten the screws it squeezes out any air gaps you might have had in between the van walls, butyl, and outer flange. I didn't have to attach any screws to the van walls. They all screwed into the window frame. Does that answer your question?
I personally like having the two fans because I have one located up front to help ventilate while I'm cooking and then one located over my bed to help circulate air while I'm sleeping. When it's hot out I set them both to extract mode and open the front and back windows to circulate air throughout the entire van. You can probably get away with one up front as long as you have windows in the back to pull air through, but I've only had experience with having two fans. I would recommend getting fans that can both push air in and pull air out. You can always install one and test it. If it feels good, don't worry about installing a second.
doesn't seem like he knows what he is doing, but he's having fun I guess. I mean, you want to use too much sealant. Not just enough. NOTHING is worse than a leaky window.
The dog and cat commentary crack me up! Archer is keeping you humble, it’s hilarious.
Glad your mate came over 😊 to help
i'm so glad i found your videos before converting my van!! your videos are like what not to do videos, and super helpful.
What NOT to do! hahahahah

Thanks man cutting in windows tomorrow. Funny ass video had a lot of fun watching. ✌
i gotta say.... your videos are very amusing. i had a good chuckle quite a few times... thank you.

Your videos are hella funny. So happy to have found you.
I dig the humor and the "collage style" editing. Very informative and entertaining. Love the other video where the dog's comments are a squeak! :D

I can tell you have special skills.
Your fans are still out there!
I like these videos. They make me feel so professional : P
♥️♥️Love the way you ran to rescue your cat♥️♥️
Are we just not going to talk about the fact that he jumped off a 12 foot van to get his cat and sprinted towards him? This man loves that cat.
Nice video 👍🏻 about to my long wheel based sprinter and i know that i will need to cut alot of those wholes 😁
Thanks for another great vid! :D
Editing skills is💯✅
So glad I am here before you're million subscribers :)
Keep it up!

Thanks for the tips. I plan on doing some renovations to the bathroom this fall so I appreciate the suggestions.
dude, you're hilarious, thanks for the vids
best intro ever :D
That mountain biker Ye were talkin about was the single track sampler

The thumbnail was pure Rocky clickbait and this video did NAWT disappoint! 🐶❤ #AlwaysRockingMoreRocky
Where did you get the 3D printed outline that fits promasters? Thanks for any help.
I found it on ebay. There should be a link in the description.
I'm bingewatching your channel dude, love it! looking for a van for my build - sprinter or crafter, any recommandation?
Smart diaper move fellow Hoosier, lol!!
Smart way to meassure windows @12:00
the singletrack sampler
10:36 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, ignition! it's rocket science!
I like the calm way in which you narrate. Can you tell me why the window opening is not drilled from the inside?
I guess I don't have a good reason why I cut it from the outside. I just did what I had watched other people do.
@@dogcatmanvan Thanks for your reply. One day I may try it from the inside.
I need those overalls
Just wondering if Trent was the mountain-biker vanlife youtuber you got the templates from... I've heard him talking about templates in one of his vids
I believe the guys channel is called The SingleTrack Sampler
Thank you for making a van build entertaining! I appreciate your candid honesty about the reno/build/expectations vs reality! I really like your channel!
Norman Wisdom does DIY😆💚
Great video! One question. Just installed bunk windows myself, and experienced the same wrinkle issue. When you added the backing wooden plate, did the wrinkles come out?
Nope, they are still there a little bit.
"Like a glove, DANG! That never happens for me." ...... (LMMFAO)!!, THAT'S WAT HE SAID.
@10:49 LET’S GOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!
those overalls though 😍

Question: does the water that you used at the end to keep it from sticking too quickly affect the seal later? I assume not but am confused. Thanks!
Nope it evaporates. The seal is fine.
@@dogcatmanvan Awesome! Thank you!
Where did you get your windows from?
Check the description for links
You live close! Never fear I am a welder!
Would u recommend two ceiling fans or one fan would be fine?
I personally like having the two fans because I have one located up front to help ventilate while I'm cooking and then one located over my bed to help circulate air while I'm sleeping. Round 2 of your videos during social distancing and chill
When you screw in the fans, are you just screwing into the sheet metal? As well as when you’re framing. You just screw straight into the van?
Yeah we just put self tapers into the framework for the nailers and I screwed the fans straight into the roof.
DogCatManVan oh thanks! I just now saw this
doesn't seem like he knows what he is doing, but he's having fun I guess.

Yeahhhh my brother in law cut the hole for the fan 😅 I woosed out
Finally 🥳
Shout out to the Single Track Sampler at 0:45
There's a tool called a contour gauge that would help with this job I bet.
Yea dude, the way they get small metal shards out of your eyeball is with a NEEDLE.
Lol you remind me of my brother.
what about a dog door for your Healer :)
Maybe one day!
They are in the wrong way the unopening glass should be forward facing
According to the window it's in there correctly
what brand are your overalls?
Haha they're Dickies
You should make a converted school bus
😍😍😍😜
what a hottie!!
First try, LOL
