Very entertaining review 😁 I never read this book, but now I want to read it. It will be funny to just walk through Darkwood Forest without any care 😁 I very much appreciate these reviews because these books meant a lot to me when I was younger (hours and hours of fun) and it's good to meet people that still remember and appreciate them. I also enjoy very much the way you present things 👌 best regards
Great review as ever... I have this one and played it (don't remember if I completed it properly). Agree with all you say here, a decent book that is elevated by the drooling grotesque death and some good humour... which is always nice!
SPOILERS Did it during this summer, right between Forest of Doom and City of Thieves. I was not aware of the connections and this string of adventures is what made it special for me. Actually using the hammer of the dwarves at last was the best part story-wise. I am quite surprised to see you liking this one. As much as i liked the desert part, the lost city of Vatos is more or less a corridor with (sometimes not that fair) traps, especially on the second half. And agressively one-true-path, there's absolutely no room for error/freedom, from the get go. I guess i am not ready for the harder books 😰 The D.E.A.T.H. messenger trap is one of the best idea of the book, making you fear to explore this unforgiving place. But also the worst in his execution.. It's a trap probably no one ever fell for. Since there's no multiples of the letters and the book is hard-ish to complete, you'll probably never see all of them in one run. So the very next time you try and you know where at least one of the letter is, you never look at it again, folding the trap instantly.
I think a lot of my fondness for this book is nostalgia, to be honest! You're right, it is quite easy to avoid the Messenger of Death, but I still love the idea. This one and Demons of the Deep are high on my list of underrated FF books. But let's see if I feel the same when I come to Demons later!
I did not enjoy this. Maybe I was in the wrong mood for it ages ago. Interestingly it was one of the few I actually owned so I had unlimited time to read it; it fell to bits so I don't have it now. Would I read it again? Maybe.
I thought you meant you didn't enjoy my vid for a minute! Ah, well, maybe Temple is not for everyone, but it seems to have a legacy - they made a game of it etc. Ian Livingstone was very fond of the cover!
I remember this wonderful "Temple of Terror" cover from your "My Top 10 Fighting Fantasy Gamebook Covers!" video. I love it! 😃👍
It's a cracker!
I really like of your vídeos about FF Books! Please continue to bring more books to us
Thanks so much! Rings of Kether and Seas of Blood coming soon!

Thanks so much, Francisco! Glad you're enjoying the series.
Never seen this title "in the flesh" but from what you show I actually quite like the look of the art in this one!
It's a lot of fun. I wish he'd illustrated more books in the series.

Good point about the humour. Some of the other writers, apart from Jackson and Livingstone, sometimes took it too seriously, I felt.

Bill Houston a également illustré "La Dernière Invasion" de la série Histoire.
I like his illustrations. They're not as good as Ian McCaig, say, but they're fun, a bit crazy, and atmospheric.
From Osu and Dryer to Fighting Fantasy! What a brilliant channel!
I won’t be rising to that Ninth Gate comment 😂
Ha, ha! It was an Easter Egg for you, Steve!
Where are the reviews of 15 16?
Sorry, the channel's been on an extended break. Will get round to it in the New Year.
I'm thinking about buying this from time to time, but the illustrations are subpar. Definitely not what I'm used to.
Some are below standard, I agree. But there's good stuff in there, too. And the game is fun once you get to the lost city.
