I don't know why people say, that the Glock 26 isn't as accurate as the g19. I hit steel at a 100 yards away with my Glock 26. It's very accurate. Glock 26 best subcompact ever.

Had the G19. It was a bit too big for me and I don’t need anything visible while on my possession as well. Getting my G26 in a couple weeks!

I have been carrying Glock pistols since 1998. The G26 has been my EDC for the past 15 years. With more than 40 years of gun experience, and having owned many brands, from Sig, FN, Springfield, Beretta, Kimber, you name it, Glock gets my vote every time. I feel completely confident wearing my G26 on a daily basis, and the G17 in my nightstand drawer, dressed with a Trijicon RMR and light. Good video buddy, thanks.

I just bought a G26. Have you had the same one for 15 years? I am relatively new to guns (~3 years) Do they really last that long and will I be able to carry my gen 5 for 15+ years? I'm sorry if it's a dumb question

    • @davetripper
      @davetripper 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah great combo. I got my 17 for my nightstand gun about a year ago. And just now picked up my 26 for concealed carry. Both Gen 3 (California special) which I actually like a lot. And I don’t know what it is about my Gen 3s but the triggers are actually very good - both have a consistent hard wall and clean crisp 5-6lb break with zero creep, which is exactly how I want them. The safety blades kinda suck but let ya know you’re pulling the trigger giving exceptional tactile feedback.

    • @davetripper
      @davetripper 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@joerogan3506 I think round count and usage is a better gauge for pistol life than time. I have 30 yr old Taurus in .45acp that’s still going strong. And Glocks have been known to last 10s of thousands of rounds. Regular cleaning and maintenance are key - and changing out parts as they wear (recoil rod/spring, barrel, etc - but those are gonna be good for several thousand rounds typically). Your magazines will likely need replacing before anything if you shoot it enough.

Totally agree with you, I have the same setup. Two things to add is: 1) The ability to break the gun down completely and replace any part yourself. 2) The ability to get any part needed from multiple vendors quickly. This along with your points make this a fantastic “survival” gun, never needs to go to a gun shop.

I have a M&p shield plus, and my brother have a glock 26. I took both guns to the range and put 100 round through each gun. The glock 26 has noticeable less recoil and was easier to shoot for a beginner.

I bought my Glock 26 back in 1995 and it probably has 15k (or more) rounds through it. I maybe cleaned it once a year. It was my only EDC gun for at least 20 years. The gun's only malfunction was an FTF using my own crappy hand loads. With a ghost 3.5 connector and all those rounds the trigger is about as smooth as can be without an expensive upgrade. My Gen 5 G19 and my Gen 4 G41 had the same trigger treatment and neither shoot as nice. i have always used the Pearce grip and it remains my primary choice in the EDC rotation. I have numerous other carry guns for all styles of dress and locale but this one is dear to my heart.

Glock 26 with a Glock 19 15+1 magazine with a pachmayr mag sleeve…is the perfect setup…I have the same setup. I call it the “short barrel glock 19” critics say it’s a great “starter pistol” in the right hands, it’s one of the best pistols for conceal carry and self defense. And with the gen 3 u have options in terms of magazines…it will take the Glock 17, as well as the 19 magazines….…very versatile for defense…and with the option for the 30 round magazine and 50 round magazine…it makes it ideal for offense too…and with the added capability of being able to upgrade to a threaded competition barrel giving it extra length it instantly becomes identical to the full size glock 19….in my opinion the 26 is the best 9mm glock u could have…it can transform into several different variations depending on the situation….added with the fact u can throw it in an MCK and turn it into a PDW WITH a foldable stock if ur shopping for a Glock 9…..arguably the 26 gen 3 is the best u can do if ur looking for a reliable 9mm….I would recommend a serpico trigger upgrade as well as tru glow sights for low light conditions… I’ve owned the Glock 26 for over a decade upgrading for the gen 2 to gen 3….the 4 is fine too…don’t get the gen 5….u can’t do much in terms of upgrades…just buy da gen 3 or 4….thank me later

Great video explaining why the G26 makes sense as a carry option. The one point I take exception with is the accuracy of the 26 relative to the G19 or G17. I’ve found the G26 to every bit as capable as the G19 and G17 out to 25 yards. I use the G26 and G17 in competition and have objective data on my shooting to support my view. The G26 is one of my favorite firearms. Thanks for the video.

Like many of the individuals posting a comment, I believe that the Glock 26 is the ideal concealed carry handgun. I recently purchased my 3rd Glock 26 having traded my 2 prior pistols for other firearms. After carrying a H&K VP9 SK for 18 months, I decided to go back to carrying a G26 everyday. My most recent purchase was a G26 Gen 4, and my most recent sale was a G26 Gen 5 when I purchased the H&K pistol. I prefer the G26 Gen 4 with finger groves since I have small hands over the Gen 5 without finger groves. My alternate carry firearm is a H&K P30 SK V3 (decocker on rear of slide) with a light, and one can purchase 10, 13, and 15 round magazines for this DA/SA pistol with great night sights.

I'm the same way man. I own a M&P Shield, and Glock 19 currently. I can't used to the grip on the M&P, it's way too thin for me. The Glock 19 is the perfect gun although it's hard to conceal at times... I'm looking to get a Glock 26 right now to fulfil my concealment needs. I shot it a week ago and it was perfect. I love the thickness in double stack, the grip feels very well in the hand and it seems like it would conceal very well. Can't wait for it to be mine!!

I have the 26 g5 and the 19g5. I like the hand feel of the 19 but, the 26 hides so well it’s a great edc. Adding the grip extension is always an option, either the pinky extension base plate or the 19 mag and grip extender like you have here. As a newer gun owner, I find it quite accurate and a great edc. Great vid.

I tried several Compacts, then settled for all the key points you discussed on G26 gen5. I carry the 12 round mag and 1 round chambered. My extra mag is the G19, then near my night stand is the G17 mag with the XGrip ext. I do own a G19 Gen5 for training, since the range does not allow compacts for training. @sweetcostarica 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Good video on a *_personal choice_* in picking a "bigger" concealed carry handgun - the Glock 26.
    MY VIEW and some facts:
    - Most people *_end up_* carrying their smallest pistol/revolver they own for CCW/concealed carry _IF THEY CARRY EVERYDAY._ For whatever reason this is true.
    - The average bullets fired in CCW/self-defense by FBI data is 2 to 4 rounds, so magazine capacity & magazine interchangeability are moot points.
    - Shoot-ability in a carry gun is also a moot point as the distances are not far (3 to 10 feet). If you practice with you handgun you will be able to hit your target(s)
    - A gun that is *_all around/does it all_* is unrealistic (IMO). You really NEED only one gun for CCW cause it needs to be smaller to conceal i.e. it is a compromise. If you are a policeman/soldier you need one (1) gun i.e. a bigger gun that works better for further distance shooting & capacity.
    - A weapon *_light_* or a *_laser_* is not necessary, gives away you location (I was in the military), and adds more bulk & weight to CCW/concealed self-defense.
    - Home defense weapons are rifles & shotguns. Why use a weak handgun with weaker caliber for home defense when a long gun is much more powerful (one stops are easy), cheaper ($350 USD for a pump shotgun), and a long gun is more accurate. Also, if a home invader is armed, why have have similar fire power he has when you have the advantage of being able to overwhelm him/her with more power in an AK, AR, or shotgun?? Strange to me.
    - The real drawback to the Glock 26 is it is FAT & heavier than the newer modern CCW guns like the Glock 43/43X, SIG P365, Hellcat, etc.
WARNING: *_Optics_* instead of fixed sights/night sights on handguns are a fad in the gun industry to make more money. Optics have many drawbacks that are not talked about (fogging in Winter, fogging going in & out of doors where the climate changes, optic sights/finding that red dot in the sight needs lots & lots of practice to use under stress as a CCW accessory.
    *_FULL discloser_* -
I have two handguns, a Glock 19 for the range/OWB carry & a Glock 43X for IWB concealed everyday carry. My old concealed carry was a Glock 26 (I owned three versions of the Glock 26s).
*QUESTION* to the video maker: How many "bad guys" that you have shot with your concealed carry setup? Give the details of the shooting & the court decisions/costs. Sounds like you know something about CCW from real life.
Please answer this and I will answer too (my about 35 years of experience) to be fair to you.

I'd have to both agree AND disagree with the mag interchangeability.
Not everyone lives in a similar area that I do. But I live very close if not directly in the cities (being ambiguous on purpose).
If you haven't been seeing what's been happening in the last couple of months/year, you really need to. Its nutty.
People being assaulted in the streets. Businesses burned/ destroyed, people assaulted, some ambushed by a random brick to the back of the head, people being ripped out of cars by mobs of people..
      It's insane.
With all the riots and other "random assaults" that have been happening, I need something smaller I can conceal so I don't disturb the average citizen, but I really want to carry extra ammo beyond the 10 rounds the Glock 26's mags offer, or the ability to pick up a downed officer's 15+ round mag and (without too much limitation) still be able to use it to defend the officer and myself. (which I hope that never happens).
It's summer now, so I can't run around in a hoodie without roasting or looking like I'm dealing drugs, just to conceal a firearm that I realized was too big for the job I needed that gun to do.
A couple of years ago when I carried a Glock 19, when the wind blew it printed the handle of my gun. It became so obvious that a random dude (who I assumed also concealed and carried) whispered to me that I'd need a smaller gun.
So I went and bought the next best thing that allowed me to conceal my weapon, but also take the Glock 17 mags I wanted to carry.

      @AGuy-s5v 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Pistols are a GREAT if not the preferred choice for home defense. Especially if you're not a complete loser and have family or friends/roommates you live with.
Remember: Not everyone happens to live alone in a small town/ the middle of "nowhere".
Pistols are smaller, meaning they are much easier to maneuver in tighter spaces. Pistols are also lighter and easier to use than a shotgun.
There are videos on TH-cam where a pro shooter short stroked a pump action shotgun and wasted SO much time trying to fix the problem caused by both user error and poor design choices.
If that was a defensive use of that shotgun in that instance the pro would probably be dead depending on the situation.
Not only that, what if I need to carry a smaller person with me, like my wife or my kid(s). I can't use one hand if its a pump shotgun. And I lost most of my benefits if its a long gun like an AR since I don't have 2 hands to work with anymore.
Not only that, pistols are indeed notably weaker, so they aren't as prone to go through multiple walls and potentially kill your wife or child or roommate while you're in the process of defending yourself and others.
The next point to note is that while a light might "give away your position." I trade my temporary position for very valuable information, like not shooting someone I care about, or seeing where the bad guy isn't (meaning i can narrow down where he is).
REMEMBER: KNOW YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT.
Not only that, there's a reason most weapon lights have a momentary feature. The momentary feature is to provide you with info, but to also allow you to turn the light off when you don't currently need the info until the next meaningful/strategic use.
Weapon lights are also a failsafe if you somehow find yourself unable to find a handheld flashlight.
The light isn't always on, meaning that they might know where you are generally, but not actually.
Depending on how bright the light is the light can also blind your adversary, giving you an advantage.
      Now onto red dots:
Multiple people have made the point that the "extra training" (even though it takes a much of training anyways to be effective with a firearm, let alone a CCW) is very worth it to gain the amazing benefits of red dots:
Clearer sight picture, more natural point of aim, faster sight realignment, the ability to threat focus while maintaining point of aim (while threat focusing), the ability to rack the slide or to even clear malfunctions with your pistol optic on most surfaces/objects (like belts, or doors) regardless of whether or not the optic is working any longer, the ability to use regardless of lighting conditions are amazing benefits to the defensive shooter.
Plenty of older shooters LOVE red dots on their rifles and handguns because they can actually see the sight in their failing vision.
And a solid point to note, if you aren't training your irons regardless on whether or not you have an optic on your handgun, you're not a good concealed carrier.
The reason the backup irons are there is if the red dot fails and you need them. So train with them regardless.
Now to those who say red dots on pistols are "gimmicks" needs to get with the program. Optics on both rifles, and handguns are purely beneficial to the shooter even with the supposed "downsides".
The future is now old man.
      :)

I have both the g26 gen 5 and the g43x gen 5. At first I favored the 26 over the 43x. Mainly because the 43x comes with a very lousy trigger and guide rod making the gun very snappy with awful accuracy. I then changed out the guide rod along with a pyramid 3lb. trigger and now it is a tossup between the two guns. I love them both, I have the perfect belt, holster and now the handguns. I have the best setup for conceal carry of both worlds. I am a happy camper.

Great video. Just got my Gen 3 26 and loving it. Lemme know how ya feel about red dots when you hit your 40s and beyond and everything within arms length is a blur. Red dots are great for aging eyes - and even more importantly allow you to shoot with both eyes open and focused on the threat versus the front sight. I do get what you mean about the likelihood of having to use it in close quarters point and shoot situation tho.

All their holsters are great, in my opinion. The run from 60-110.00 and a 3-4 month wait. I do not print with these holsters/guns and ultra comfortable. Great video. I have a 365x but have been thinking of trading it for a G26. Two reasons are better comparability with a G19, and I just don't have confidence in the internal safeties of the 365 to where I feel comfortable carrying with a round in the chamber. The G19 not an issue, nothing to do with the 320 issue but the way Sig set it up, but I just don't trust the internal safety setup of Sig.

With the Glock 26, in my case the Gen 4, the addition of the steel oem sights vice the polymer, the Pearce Grip PG-26 mag extention which adds 0 rounds (same for the back-up mag), and the Crimson Trace LG-436 Laserguard all together make up what I call Glock EDC Perfection. If you really need a subcompact EDC that can carry up to 15 rounds then you're not looking for a CCW/EDC you're looking for a gunfight. Semper Fi.
