    I just walked out of the guitar shop with a Fender American Ultra! I played lots of stats and teles. I played several Ultra's and they all play and feel just a bit different. The strat I settled on just felt right. I knew it from the first strum. Some guitars are just more alive than others. Big shout out to all guitar shops that are still kicking it! Especially Bailey Brothers in Hoover Alabama! Thx guys!

      I was just thinking of this! And I feel like, if I had to get rid of my strats and only keep one, it would be the Ultra. I’m glad you found a great one that you bonded with and shoutout to your local store!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 have a great day!

    I have Fender American Pro2, and I will trade it for Ultra2 coming out in a month! I wonder what's the difference between Ultra1 and 2 but I would love to try out noseless pickup as well as locking tuner~!

      If I could only keep one strat, it would be my ultra. It really is great for me. In my opinion it’s a nice set of pickups. A fat and articulate neck, glassy pos4, twangy mid, spiky pos2 and a screaming bridge (the bridge could be fatter honestly). But overall making tones with it, are always really balanced, well defined and I’m always happy and end up using it. 🤣🤣🤣 i just imagine the 2 is that but more. I heard the pickups and they sound really great in Paul Davids video. If you like ebony fretboards, I think you’ll got nothing to worry about. Having said that, it’s a pretty different experience than the AmPro2. It will be a bit shocking for a while maybe. I hope this long comment helps my friend!

      I think, that nothing beats the guitar of your dreams. The AmPro2 really is a great guitar. I prefer the ultra in many ways, and the more I play it the more I like it, but, I do notice that it depends a lot on the style of music I’m trying to play. Some things feel easier on the AmPro2 and viceversa. More often than not, people that come to my studio and play my guitars, the ultra is usually everyone’s favorite, that and my tele. I hope this helps in any way my friend! I appreciate you watching and commenting! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

    I've had the good fortune to play Stratocasters from 1979 to the current epoch - many varieties. Tomorrow I'm trading my Pro II Strat and Pro II Tele for an Ultra Stratocaster (Mocha Burst). It'll become third in a trio containing a white Jeff Beck signature and a black Eric Clapton signature (Blackie). My wife has asked me to downsize my fleet so off I go. Your information is helpful - reinforces the validity of my choice. Nice job - thank you!

I was just filming a video and again I confirm to myself that the ultra is my favorite guitar that I own, if at some point you don’t like the pickups, quick swap and you’re there, the ultra strat feels so good in every way. I had an American pro and traded in for the pro ll in vintage sunburst. Wonderful guitar. This one is very resonate for some reason. It just sings. I saw Fender was having a big sale on the ultras, so i went to GC to try and play one, but they didn't have any in stock. I already knew i wanted that cobra blue with a rosewood board and HSS pups, so I talked to the guys there, and they ordered me one and got me an additional 10% off. So I got that ultra for about $20 more than a pro ll. Plus, I got $200 in rewards to spend however I want at GC!

    Nice shirt!
    That's an interesting observation/theory about the aluminum pick guard. It makes sense to me, and would be an easy thing to try.
    It's cool that Fender is offering options like these. For myself, I much prefer the neck and pickups of the Am Pro 2 over the Ultra. The neck profile, compound radius and frets on the Ultra probably appeal to shredders, but I don't find it as comfortable for my kind of playing. The Ultra's noiseless pickups are probably good for high gain situations, but they don't "breath" like real single coil pickups (to my ears). I think the Am Pro II should have locking tuners for it's price, but that's an easy DIY upgrade. At any rate, it's cool that we have options.

      I think very similar to you my friend. They’re both really good instruments and I definitely go through phases where one guitar feels better and such, but the most important thing I’ve noticed, when you play guitar, the best guitar is the first one you play in your day, after that first guitar you touch during the day, everything else feels just a bit foreign, start with a different guitar the next day, and then boom, all of a sudden the other guitars feel foreign, so yes, we should just get the guitar we like and play it 🤣🤣 once we play it, nothing will feel better! Crazy how perception works. Thank you for your nice and thoughtful comment my friend! I hope you’re having a good one!

    i talked to some ppl who owned or played both.. Most said in the beggining that they prefer the pro2 .. But after few weeks they switched to the Ultra and prefer it much more.. I think myeslef that Ultra is the best, you jsut have to get used to it after switching from other Strat models...

    • @Itsjorgelanzas
      @Itsjorgelanzas  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, if you come from an older strat definitely I can see that happening. I think the ultra is much more comfortable and it comes from the factory with a better fret job i think, that’s why you can really lower the strings that extra little bit that makes you feel like is undeniably easier to play. Definitely is a modern strat. The traditionalists are probably gonna secretly love it 🤣 and hate it in the comments. Thanks for your comment friend!!

    • @emgex
      @emgex 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      i played an really old fender once i think it was from the late 60s or 70s, you couldnt adjust the height of the strings much and there was a big gap between the freet and strings on the 14- 21th frets it was awefull.. And yet ppl say it was a good model and an amazing guitar.. I would rather play an newer squier or ibanez gio than that "made in USA" original Fender that has an awefull height and cheap twangy noisy singlecoil sound.@@Itsjorgelanzas

    I wasn't looking at the screen when he identified the guitars because I didn't want to know which guitar was which when I was listening. It turns out that I preferred the sound of the white one best. It was more articulate, particularly in the high end and had more dynamics. I was shocked to learn those were the noiseless pickups.
    I'm not sure if that's high praise of the noiseless or condemnation of the V-Mod II.
    I've got a '61 strat and an Am Pro II. The pickups in the '61 are better. Maybe the V-Mod II are just bad pickups.

    • @Itsjorgelanzas

      I think the ultra noiseless are great. I’ve tried lots of pickups, Nothing to envy from any other pickup. So far, I even liked them better than a few of the custom shop ones I’ve tried. In the studio, under the Microscope, they have the most balanced signal, almost no eq problems, no whistles in the mid range. So yeah, And I think the v mods are great pickups, different, but cool sounding. I’m glad you had fun even though the video was hard to get through for you.

    I think the guitars sound amazingly similar. I know you thought you heard and felt some differences, but I do not hear it. And I am an experienced studio musician and guitar player with over 20 guitars. So, if I can get noiseless pickups that sound so close to vintage tone, I will go with the noiseless. I considered Suhr for their noise cancelling system, but now I do not see the point. So I am seriously considering the Ultra. However, I really also wanted a roasted maple neck to minimize having to do seasonal adjustments. So I may wait until Fender comes out with an Ultra Hot Noiseless loaded pickguard and put it in a Sire S7 or something similar. If I can hold out for that. Your video helped my decide on the Ultra Hot Noiseless pickups in any case, and I thank you for that!

    • @Itsjorgelanzas
      @Itsjorgelanzas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Man!! That makes me happy. I think an ultra would be a great choice to save so serious cash compared to a suhr. And, Im sure there’s an ultra with roasted neck now, and even maybe with the hot noiseless, but in HSS config. I got the hot noiseless and I’ve been planning to drop them in the ultra! But it just sounds so good that it feels like a waste. So we’ll see! Cause I’m super curious to hear the difference in a back to back like I’m doing now. Anyway thanks sharing your thoughts and knowledge with us, I appreciate it! 🙌🏻

    I went to the store and tried both. I don’t have big hands so I don’t like chunky necks. I wanted to like the Am Pro II but I hated the neck, too chunky for me. Then the Ultra even though is D, which on paper should have more meat, is still modern so felt much more comfortable, so I’m almost decided on getting the Ultra.
    Sound wise I think both guitars are very close, a tiny bit more sparkle on the Am Pro II but that could be a good or bad thing depending on what you are looking for. Only thing that caught my attention and I don’t know what you think, is in the Ultra the bridge pickup seems to be much more aggressive than the one on the Am Pro, I don’t know if it’s only me. Excelente video, felicitaciones!

    • @Itsjorgelanzas
      @Itsjorgelanzas  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I agree with all your appreciations my friend. Seems to be pretty much what I hear and feel. In my case, the AmPro2 bridge, ends up getting very little use. Seems to my that the sound is super cool for like a vintage lead sound or surf, I keep it with the knob pulled. The bridge of the ultra is really good, but still lacks a bit. Sounds really good with high gain. INHO the ultra is a better guitar in many ways. I hope you can find a great deal, I see ultras in really great condition going for 1200. That to me, at that price is simply the best strat right now. It even is more stable with weather and humidity changes. After a few years of having them here, my ultra is 100% the keeper. If I didn’t have the channel would probably sell the ampro lol but I just like the look so much lol anyway, sorry for the big comment. Maybe I need to make an update to this video after a few years. I agree, the AmPro2 does have a lower rumble. And the noiseless, weirdly enough, is more spanky! 🤣🤣 I grew up with everyone saying that noiseless sounded “dead” with “no sparkle”. So far, in my experience, all noiseless strats I’ve tried, are brighter than single most coil strats I’ve tried. So I wonder if that myth is based on reality of sound, or just on “it’s a humbucker, it should be darker and Less spanky, right?”🤣🤣 and never really tried them back to back in a controlled environment. Yeah, I’ve never done it. But, the other day I went to GC to try a nice LP blueberry burst I saw, and felt the pressure to buy it, just because I was trying it. Luckily the guitar had too many flaws to buy it! But the takeaway was, how pressed you feel to buy, when you try it in a store 🤣🤣🤣

      Well I rather have the vmod cause the supposed noiseless pickups is a sham they are single coil humbucker s i.m.o. only good ones out there are the EMGs... anyhow waste of money when ap2 is a real deal single coils that are just as good 👍.

    • @Itsjorgelanzas
      @Itsjorgelanzas  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel like the noiseless sound great, a bit of presence in your amp and you’re solid. But, in reality what you’re paying is for your preference of neck and body carve. I honestly like them both. And use them both. In a track, the difference becomes much more important and I’m glad I got both to cover the more ground. It’s undeniable that the ultra allows you to play a bit faster. The intonation seems to be microscopically better in the AmPro2 I imagine due to the thinner frets, less contact surface for the string so yeah 🤣 if you really play them both, and dissect them over a couple years, that’s what stands out.

    Oh, i love playing Stratocaster-guitars, and i love to choose guitars who are better than Fenders, especially better than Fender USA! My first Stratocaster was an end-80ies ,,Fender American Standard Stratocaster“, and it was my worst guitar ever, and i´ve had a second Fender Strat, a mexican-Version, called ,,Fender Standard Stratocaster“ and this guitar have had a Poplar-body and sounded like soft shit. And so I learned that either Fender is cheating us because they deliver poor quality and workmanship or overpriced guitars with wet, poorly stored and less vibrating woods, and trying to compensate for this with overloaded, or fat-sounding, pickups, and that is the reason for the myths of the real, old vintage Strats, because back then they tended to use woods that were stored and had better vibratability were used. Or, and this is certainly true, the production volume is so high that the company is no longer able to get wood of the same quality for the entire production, and then the really good, well-vibrating guitars come from the current production not to Germany - I am in Germany, a country that the USA keeps under military occupation to this day, so we Germans are like modern slaves of the USA Occupation Force, the USA controls Germany to this day and abuses us Germans as a source of money ! At the beginning of the 90s I got my hands on my first ESP-S-400 series Strat, now there are four, but this first one had 42 slanted annual rings and had such a great attack and cracky, bony, twangy and wiry-sound by dry-playing, and this guitar has beaten every Fender USA Custom Shop Strat by far in comparisons, let alone the production models from Fender and also a real, vintage Fender 1963 Strat. Around 2006, based on my good experiences with ESP, I bought an "ESP Vintage Plus" Strat, with the best, densest wood, superbly crafted and with a flattened neck-body transition (SSS variant), this Vintage Plus was once again on point Overtones and sustain are a step better, they easily beat the MusicMans and Suhrs and cost 1100 euros new at the time! Then in 2014 i came across a cheap used BLADE Texas Classic and was blown away. It was good, it could easily compete with the ESPs, yes it plays in the same league as ESP and cost 350 euros used. A short time later I tried a "BLADE Texas Standard Pro" with VMC midboost, similar to the "Fender Eric Clapton Signature USA-Strat", exactly the same again, it was better than any Clapton signature guitar from Fender, had better swingable woods, a flattened neck-body transition (like the BLADE Texas Classic) and therefore much better playability than Fender! So I use a lot of good Strats at home and all of them are better than what I could buy as a Fender in Germany at completely overpriced prices! That's why I prefer to play Strats, but the main thing is that it never says Fender on it, but rather ESP-S-400-Series, ESP Vintage Plus, BLADE Texas Classic or BLADE Texas Standard Pro! Well, I can prove not only purely subjectively, but very objectively in terms of sound, that there are much better things than Fender, in some cases also much cheaper and easier to play! Why should I even buy a Fender, a guitar that is worse in terms of sound and workmanship and less playable at a completely overpriced price???? Why, can someone explain this to me??????

      I’ve heard that kind of comments coming from Eastern Europe and Russia. I wonder if the instruments you guys get are different. And that’s cool that you liked them! 😊 and have them, I guess a lot of the world like something different. I wonder, why If “objectively” cheap ESP’s have a better sound, why NO sound professional I’ve ever met in 15 years of working in the music industry, chooses a cheap ESP over Fender Custom shop and so on. Let’s be happy that they work for you, that you love them and own them. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

      If it doesn't say Fender on it, it's not a Stratocaster in the first place. So you don't like stratocasters, you like solid body guitars made by other compagnies that copy Stratocasters.. Don't you think?
      Have you ever noticed that Fenders have their sound?
      Well that seems what you've discovered at last.
      They may have some dud's out there, but common , get real, why do professional players go for Stratocasters in a lot of cases ?
      A pro buys a Suhr because he wants ANOTHER sound in his arsenal.. but if he needs a Stratocaster sound, he'll buy a Fender 😊

      Rudi, a Stratocaster can be copied in such a way that you get the same result. Yes, the “Fenders” have their own sound, but not as a brand, but as a type of guitar, namely Bolton guitars, provided that the bodies are made of the same wood and the neck is usually always maple, with or without a rosewood fingerboard , and that can very well be copied, and based on objective criteria you can determine the crack, twang, sustain, attack, articulation, etc. test, and my Fenders performed very poorly, and my later killer ESP-400 Series Strat (not a heavy model, no, traditional 60s Strat with SSS) has beaten all available Fender Custom Shop Strats and also an original Vintage 1963 Fender Strat, all the Fender characteristics were more than the Fenders, that's just how it was! Cross test: The dry sound, because I have no subjective influence from the pickups, but only the natural vibration remains and it only reproduced the characteristics that could already be heard electrically, so that was the irrefutable proof that it was in the case of the electric guitar, the quality of the wood is important and, as a result, the quality of the natural vibration. The pickup can color the sound of this natural vibration during the electrical transmission, but the pickup cannot conjure up qualities that the natural vibration does not transmit!! !!!!!!!
      This is all absolutely objectively testable and distinguishable. I haven't had a mass-produced Fender Strat in my hand yet where the chord were harmoniously fading away, but with almost 100% of the ESPs and BLADEs, I can't help it that Fender uses spongy, less vibrating woods, that's not my fault. The Fender Customs shops had usable guitars that were exactly what you would imagine a Fender to be. And I know what I'm talking about: I can hear without an amplifier whether there is alder or ash under the body varnish, the sound is typical of both woods and different from each other! And with storage, drying and fine workmanship, this can be raised to a level that you can't get from a Fender series guitar. I compared my former Fender American Standard Strat (3 x AmSt pickups) with the ESP Vintage Plus Strat (SSS) of a friend who was in Regensburg - what do YOU think - what had he installed???? ???????????????? 3 x Fender American Standard Strat pickups - in his ESP-Strat (alder body, maple neck, so same technical data as the Fender AmSt-Strat, SSS). So!?????? And what do you think, Erwin, I and the guitarist at the time in Regensburg, Freddy L., found out?
      The sound characteristics are very similar, except the ESP-Strat (identical pickups, identical types of wood, but much better quality) had the same characteristics but more of everything, more twang, more crunch, more glass, more sustain, more attack, the chord was harmoniously fading away with the ESP, but not at all with my Fender, with the ESP the chord easily swapped over into the flageoletts, but not at all with my Fender! So, think for yourself! How did the result come about?????? By using the same woods and the same pickups, there was no difference in the sound-carrying substance, but the peculiarities of the ESP were all there too, but all much stronger! This proves what does the pickup do, what does the structure of the guitar do, and the differences in sound between two guitars with the same structure and the same pickups can only come from the quality of the wood and the resulting vibration properties, there is nothing more, so what else would be wrong with an experimental setup like this????????? So, does anyone have anything to contribute to this, something factual???????????

      Woods have definitely an impact, as the bridge material, the stiffness of the springs.. The neck angle, the nut.. How it's cut, the material it's made of.. Everything has an impact.
      I have a beaten up Fender Jimmie Vaughan Stratocaster which I experiment with as a modular benchwork.
      I can attest everything that you change, even the finish.. Some people say that a Stratocasters sound is the pickups and set up. No way it's that simple..
      I have a AVRI 59 stratocaster which is a superior instrument in every way.. My beat up Mexican Jimmie Vaughan which has been tweaked to the extreme (callaham bridge, bone nut, fretwork, strpped down refinish, locking tuners, pro setup..) is just as good but very different.. When I switch from to one another I just can't decide which one I prefer.. Because they are equally goid, resonant, and soulful.. But very different.
      What I'm telling you here is that the modular nature of the Stratocaster design is so important in the result of it's components, that you just cannot say Fender sucks, EPS eats them.
      This is so narrow minded and just shows you don't know what you're talking about.
      If a master luthier reads your comments he'll just have a good laugh.. No kidding.
      So stop making a fool of yourself with such assements.
      I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to make just a little more open minded on the subject.
      Peace, anf just play the guitar, it's the most important in the end🎉

    Fender is trash!!! Buy a used ESP 400-Series Strat or ESP Vintage Plus Strat or a BLADE Texas Classic or Texas Standard Pro, then you´re owning a better guitar with all the so called Fender-Characteristics, but more than on Fenders and in case of a used BLADE much cheaper than Fenders! We don´t need Fender, we have BLADE, ESP, Tokai and FGN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fender what for???? Only for optics because it´s a Fender??????????????

      🙌🏻🙌🏻 Thanks for sharing your thoughts friend!! Even tho i don’t really agree with you! I’ve tried several ESP’s and even though they’re great guitars and all, I don’t like them. I felt so let down when I realized they tint their fretboards to make it look like high quality ebony and stuff like that. To me, ESP gets good, once you get to the 1000 series. But still, painted fretboards and nothing but aftermarket parts. And now, most 1000 series are as or MORE expensive than fender, so yeah, in my case, there’s lots of reasons why I don’t own LTDs right now. I used to think they were cool when I was a kid, and now, I realized they just don’t have a guitar for me in the their lineup. Anyway, thanks for your great comment friend!
