I agree. I have the midnight blue HSS w/ Rosewood. I have been playing for over 30 years. I have never been satisfied with Fender guitars. Always something lacking in one shape or another. Ive been a G&L user (for Strat or Tele style guitars) for 25 years. I have owned many Fender guitars but none (even custom shop models ive tried/owned) were as good as this Pro II. I am blown away. Not a single issue. The electronics and pickups and neck... everything. This is hands down the best Fender ive had my hands on. Finally i have a Fender that is worthy of hanging with my G&L's. :-)
I just picked up the SSS in Miami Blue on Clearrance for just over 1000 new. This neck feels so good and I'm so happy to be back to a Strat after years with a tele and an LP. Bends feel nearly as easy as on my LP. This has such a great sound with a big muff!
Gibson has modern versions as well. Is a bit difficult to accommodate evrybodys needs. Gibson went back to the glory days of their design (not referring to quality control) because buyers wanted it that way.
I live in the US but you guys have greatly influenced many of my guitar purchases and make me laugh too. Both of you deserve a big raise! If I make it to England I vow to buy some guitars from your shop!
I would have liked a demo of the Tele Deluxe with the double taps. Like to see their range. Man, Fender doesn't quit. Something new or updated every month, it seems. They are nice colors. Mercury and Dark Night are faves.
Dark Night seems to me like the kind of thing you'll see a whole lot of on players. Reminds me of the occasional sunburst fads that always seem to pop up. It is a lovely color though, which they had a kind of crimson variant of it.
@@Newsky79 I’ve played fenders for a while, the bottom point on the heel joint is what is really uncomfortable. I since moved to a Sterling By Music Man, which in my opinion has the best bolt on neck joint ever made. the single swoop is definitely an upgrade over the block, but it’s not the best one in the world.

Gents you are stepping up large on these jams. Well done. Honore, I’m not a fuzz fan by nature but that octa fuzz thickened up your lead tone quite nicely. Maybe throw a “more better” pedal like the Thorpy Fat General / Taurus Servo / Jackson Audio Prism / Chase Tone Secret Preamp on your board when using single coils and it might do the job with a low gain strat or tele solo, in the face of the usual TH-cam spectrum crunching / thinning? Love your videos as ever.
Lee and Pete... what a composition ! the intro was a masterful work.. The triads are epic... i can imagine the bass and the synths and the drums coming in ! Worthy of Fripp ....
You keep saying that there's only one extra tone added using three push push switch. But in the strat, surely it also adds the neck pickup to the 2nd position on the 5 way switch, making it have all three pickups on.
I haven’t purchased a brand new guitar on a very long time. Picked up a pro II, it’s a great guitar, but I gotta say I absolutely hate the super thick finish. The guitar can’t breathe. It perpetually feels stiff. I like the guitar overall but it’s missing something that my nitro fenders have. Well, it’s missing the nitro. Lol Makes a huge difference. Pro 2 plays great though. Nice guitar.
Just got my mercury hss today. I can't put it down. I played it back to back with an ultra, I absolutely preferred the vmod pickups over the noiseless. I also preferred the neck carve on the pro 2 vs the ultra. It was a no brainer, the pro 2 strat is a winner!!!!!

Just bught one of these in Miami blue with rosewood fretboard. I tried a load of them - all with same spec other than paint colour. Most sounded average to good with the blue one outstanding. Wasn't sure I liked the colour but starting to grow on me. Much preferred the white or darker colours. Interesting thing is even on you tube reviews the blue ones seem to sound better - which I thought must be in my head, or they are choosing different quality woods for colour (which seems unlikely). Asked around and my friends noticed the same thing with Green Pro 2 Telecaster with rosewood fretboard. Mine is without doubt the playable, stable & lively strat I have played in 30 years. Absolutely love it. My only gripe is no locking tuners and the usual strat wobbly trem issue which was rectified DIY with some plastic tubing. The main point I am making is to try them out and don't take a chance as strats vary massively.

I dunno how you guys always get this really nice clarity from position 2 and 4 on the strat! I’ve always noticed my strat tends to get a tad muddy when going from any one coil into combinations. Doesn’t seem to matter how much I adjust the heights, it always looses some high end!!
I have a partscaster Tele I built out of southern knotty pine. It is a great wood and really is super light. Plus it has a great grain. So cool to see Fender using as a nice alternative!

The pro II instruments are so good really. I got vintage instruments because forum purists claim it to be the best in a way but really, these pro II instruments are so much smoother feeling. Put vintage voiced pick ups in them for that classy sound and they're godly.
WHAT AN INTRO! I had to replay it. Soooo glad I bought this guitar. I just ordered the Olympic white, didn't even see the wood model or else I would have gotten that one but now I want the Tele in Miami Blue. 😍😍😍
Hey guys, at 10:00 you are comparing a rosewoood strat and a mapple neck .. and conclude that the mapple neck sound brighter ... Brilliant conclusion !
Fender has followed in the footsteps of many contemporary brands -- the model names are so confusing that consumers have great difficulty differentiating the various products being offered. In this instance, el Capitan did an admirable job of explaining the differences (sort of). Still, consumer beware...
I agree, and those new changes they introduced I already did to mine. Blend to introduce neck and bridge. Callaham steel block and locking tuners which they keep "forgetting" to add
So Fender aren't yet dropping the silly 'Player, Performer, Professional' names and moving to something that's easier to remember then. On a brighter note: pine guitars are awesome 👌
They’ll probably make the professional 3 and 4 and then 5 but Roman numeral so it’s professional V I wonder, does a guitar company really need this many ranges of guitar? Surely they could drop one or two yeah? It seems redundant and a waste of money and resources.
It's hilarious because there were all these stories about how they were "discontinuing" the Professional series, only to roll out the same name but with a "2"
Not only am I late but the last post is from me.... I just wanted to point out that I have a new Mexican Player HSH and it is equipped with Shawbuckers. it also appears have the same two point bridge of the USA models. Really nice piece - the Ensenada plant is really trying hard to outdo Corona (they are only twenty miles apart, after all) Best, Pete.
This is a reissue of the 2012 Fender Select Strat. The uneven tuning pins, the cut out neck plate, the slightly bell sounding pickups, 2 pin trem, alder body - Fender Select all the way.
I think that it’s not a fair test to compare the brightness of a Strat with a rosewood neck and a maple neck. Play them back to back and you’ll hear a difference immediately
Don't like the way Fender have renamed everything the last few years. I don't think there was anything wrong with American Standard, then the Deluxe, then American Vintage then Custom shop. Now the names are kinda vague. Not much wrong with the guitars themselves though!
Seems exactly the opposite of vague to me. Theyre named after who theyre for. Player, Performer, Professional. Easy. Standard, Deluxe, Vintage, Custom, now thats vague.
@@hughjass5156 It does mess with the used market values ... which are very important to new guitar sales as people either 'thin the herd' to get the new one or do a store trade-in with credit on the new guitar. The new naming scheme does seem more logical as long as they keep with it. Fender had a bad habit for a while of discontinuing one model/series so they could introduce its replacement at $100 more, consumers know what you're doing, just keep consistent.
I think part of this naming issue has to do with the fact that Fender's largest competitor isn't Gibson but Fender itself. They have to constantly be keeping with a product cycle yet still not confuse buyers and remain competitive.
Standard were for normal professionals, MIM Standard Fenders were for rich teenagers and third-world professionals, Squiers were for normal teenagers. Deluxe were for richer musicians and Custom Shop were for rich people who don't even know how to play. Good times when we knew for what public each guitar were for.
@@hughjass5156 dude that just made it 1000x clearer in my head haha. Although the 'ultra' is the odd one out, they could call that the Pro+ or something. I guess if I was in the market for a Fender I'd understand in 5 minutes lol
I Do like these features especially on the SSS strat but I feel that they should offer a line without the push push knobs and such for the more purist.
Got myself a classic looking 3-color sunburst with the mint green pick guard and a rosewood fingerboard. Always loved that look. I do like that Miami Blue with the maple though.
How good are the v-mod pickups? Apart from trying to balance each pole piece, what was the aim tone wise? Are they leaning towards a vintage type tone?
The colors are awesome and the heel joint is okay. Maybe, with the speed on which Fender tries to catch up with the features of other brands, we might expect them to put locking tuners on their guitars in 2040. Like, seriously, If you are going to launch a line that is meant for professionals, then make their job easier instead of just having a slightly better heel joint and imitate the electronic mods that people do. You know how to do it, you own a brand that does it right for a lower price.
If you string your guitar properly you don't need locking tuners. When you loop the string around the post, put it between the last two loops on the post. Voila, string locked. Locking tuners aren't necessary.
So what do we have here? Popular Deep “C” neck shape now features rolled fingerboard edges As per used on the Ultra ? New “Super Natural” neck finish ----As per used on the Ultra? Sculpted neck heels Same design used 7 years ago on the Deluxe series ( What is the betting Pro 111 will have the same design as the Elite? - Moving forwards they have moved backwards but nobody dares say that) Refined V-Mod II pickups . They do sound nice but not much difference to the 1. Newly-voiced 'Double Tap' humbuckers perfectly complement Fender’s V-Mod II single-coils (selected models only)------------- As per the Ultra “Push/Push” electronics enable special pickup combinations; splitting options and series/parallel operation ----------- You mean the SAME thing that the S1 switch does on the Ultra? Treble-bleed circuit maintains pristine highs at lower instrument volumes (electric guitars only) As available on other Fender guitars eg Two Tone Telecaster Lightweight Roasted Pine body options available; punchy in tone with a stunning grain pattern.----- Only because ash not available now Gorgeous new Dark Night, Miami Blue and Mercury finish options ------------ Ahhhh so, the new colour option to sell the big new model ?.. Think Texas Tea Ultra here Deluxe molded hardshell cases with luxurious silver plush interiors - As per Elite, Ultra So, very little new here!!!!
I’ve been a Les Paul guy my whole life…but I’m def buying a Jazzmaster Pro 2! It just has such a unique sound that can be used anywhere. Also would stack nicely in mixes. As well as take nicely to a clean amp mic with a API type preamp with some fuzz. Pure bliss! Just can’t decide what color!
Im confused arent these supposed to be vintage feel with modern appointments, and no locking tuners? If im going to pay 1500 i want all the bells and whistles, locking tuners are must in my opinion, every guitar i have has them, just makes life easier.
There's somethiung about a brit saying "baseball" (comes out as baesboowl or something like that) that always charms me. I'm chuffed. Did I say that right?
First thoughts - sounds just like a strat...😂 For me, the thing that stands out about this "new" series is the colour schemes and pickguard combos. The dark night in particular is beautiful. However, "pro" strat, still missing "pro" features like locking tuners... I own a Performer strat, which is £500-600 less that these, and frankly straight out the box, probably very little difference. I've since upgraded the bridge humbucker to a Bare Knuckle and the bridge to a Callaham and locking tuners. For a slightly cheaper model and the difference spent on a few mods/upgrades, frankly I reckon my strat would be better. Awesome playing all round as usual guys!!!
Any plans for more Anderton’s Band sessions? I enjoy listening to you guys, but I enjoy you even more in a session environment. Pete, you obviously are an accomplished session player, and Mr Captain, you’re damn good, and sessions are perfect for you since you can’t stand and play guitar at the same time.

The pro II instruments are so good really. I got vintage instruments because forum purists claim it to be the best in a way but really, these pro II instruments are so much smoother feeling. Put vintage voiced pick ups in them for that classy sound and they're godly.
STILL no locking tuners!??
Too expensive
I clicked on the video with the thought of the Miami blue strat in mind and I left with that intro in my mind. It was awesome🔥🔥 Mind blowing🎸🎸
Your grannies bed side table😂. Funniest thing I've heard for ages. Damn, can't stop 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
After watching this and looking forward to this series I can proudly say: I'm glad to own the Professional one series - that is hard to find now!
I agree, and those new changes they introduced I already did to mine. Blend to introduce neck and bridge. Callaham steel block and locking tuners which they keep "forgetting" to add
Coolest of all Jazzmaster AM Pro 2 in midnight. Can't wait.
That opening jam was insane !!!!!! That has to be my all time fav jam ever! You guys need to make an opening jam album!!!!
Look up "Joker and the Thief" by Wolfmother!!
these guys chops keep getting better and better
Fender really should bring back the block saddles for their high end strats, such a better design. It sounds better and plays better imo.
Agreed!! I was just thinking about how great one of these Miami Blue Strats would be with the old American Standard bridge!
Totally agree, basically why I'm looking after an ultra right now...
Are the frets still narrow tall? That's my favorite part about my original pro strat
So Fender aren't yet dropping the silly 'Player, Performer, Professional' names and moving to something that's easier to remember then. On a brighter note: pine guitars are awesome 👌
The three Ps off piss take
They’ll probably make the professional 3 and 4 and then 5 but Roman numeral so it’s professional V
I wonder, does a guitar company really need this many ranges of guitar?
Surely they could drop one or two yeah?
It seems redundant and a waste of money and resources.
Their rebrand of their guitars was the best thing they have done in decades.
@@emzee1148 the original names are what people know, but as for the actual guitars you can't fault them, Gibson could definitely learn something
It's hilarious because there were all these stories about how they were "discontinuing" the Professional series, only to roll out the same name but with a "2"
Still happy with my Pro mk 1 strat. Not enough changed for me to feel hard done to.
The SSS Strat should be able to do all three pickups, right? Should be two extra sounds there.
Yes, all three PUs is possible
Not only am I late but the last post is from me.... I just wanted to point out that I have a new Mexican Player HSH and it is equipped with Shawbuckers. it also appears have the same two point bridge of the USA models. Really nice piece - the Ensenada plant is really trying hard to outdo Corona (they are only twenty miles apart, after all) Best, Pete.
This is a reissue of the 2012 Fender Select Strat. The uneven tuning pins, the cut out neck plate, the slightly bell sounding pickups, 2 pin trem, alder body - Fender Select all the way.
Excellent. You guys are fun and informative. Thank You
Jeez, how many more ranges are Fender going to bring out! Too many! TOO MUUUUCH!
Look at MIM deluxe strats. Basically the classic guitar with noiseless pickups, locking tuners, and a bridge-add in button.
intro sounds like wolfmother love it!
Just ordered pro II Tele in classic black 😅 Pete killed it on this demo and the Jazz master sounded awesome 👏
The intro MELTED my face
Very nice video editing. So smooth
im so happy i got the last pro series
not that these ones are bad, i just love the old coulors
Got myself a classic looking 3-color sunburst with the mint green pick guard and a rosewood fingerboard. Always loved that look. I do like that Miami Blue with the maple though.
Dark Night shits all over that series James

That Miami Blue finish is stunning !
So what do we have here?
Popular Deep “C” neck shape now features rolled fingerboard edges As per used on the Ultra ?
New “Super Natural” neck finish ----As per used on the Ultra?
Sculpted neck heels
Same design used 7 years ago on the Deluxe series ( What is the betting Pro 111 will have the same design as the Elite? - Moving forwards they have moved backwards but nobody dares say that)
Refined V-Mod II pickups . They do sound nice but not much difference to the 1.
Newly-voiced 'Double Tap' humbuckers perfectly complement Fender’s V-Mod II single-coils (selected models only)------------- As per the Ultra
“Push/Push” electronics enable special pickup combinations; splitting options and series/parallel operation ----------- You mean the SAME thing that the S1 switch does on the Ultra?
Treble-bleed circuit maintains pristine highs at lower instrument volumes (electric guitars only) As available on other Fender guitars eg Two Tone
Telecaster
Lightweight Roasted Pine body options available; punchy in tone with a stunning grain pattern.----- Only because ash not available now
Gorgeous new Dark Night, Miami Blue and Mercury finish options ------------ Ahhhh so, the new colour option to sell the big new model ?.. Think Texas Tea Ultra here
Deluxe molded hardshell cases with luxurious silver plush interiors - As per Elite, Ultra
So, very little new here!!!!
I want Lee's opening as a backing track. Just killer
Of course these come out just after I buy a normal professional
By just after, I mean about a year
I'm literally going to finish paying mine off on Saturday :|
@@donovansproule6835 time for some new debt then
yup bought mine like 3 months ago or so....
I bought a professional 2 weeks ago 😆
I bought a professional on sale for $300 off last week. Maybe it was a sign...
5:00 So the v-mod pickups on the guitars sold were not what they should have been? Would that made much difference to how the guitar sounded?
There's somethiung about a brit saying "baseball" (comes out as baesboowl or something like that) that always charms me. I'm chuffed. Did I say that right?
Easy to play!!! Easy if you’re danish pete!!! I have the pro 2 telecaster and it is AMAZING!!!!
They should come in more colours like black / maple fretboard.
What a cool intro jam! Really cool that you’re changing it up.
Does the blue one come with Pete's guitar skills?
Oh yeh I have the miami blue jazz bass.
Slapped a p/j emg set into it and replaced the fugly pickguard with a black one.
Now it's great 👍
First thoughts - sounds just like a strat...😂
For me, the thing that stands out about this "new" series is the colour schemes and pickguard combos.
Nobody cares about you saving 4 or 500 dollars. Usa is better
@@2112-j9j the performer series is made in usa 😂🤦♂️
@@2112-j9j it is a USA strat tho😂
Any plans for more Anderton’s Band sessions? I enjoy listening to you guys, but I enjoy you even more in a session environment. Pete, you obviously are an accomplished session player, and Mr Captain, you’re damn good, and sessions are perfect for you since you can’t stand and play guitar at the same time.
My god Lee Anderton. What are you doing to me? I've just bought a Chapman ML3 pro modern in hot blue and now you're tempting me with these. My poor poor bank balance.
some pickup magnets for bass some for treble, i learned something new! i had no idea pickups were working like that i assumed they we just a mic that picks up vibrations
When will you guys start making tabs available for these massive intros? I cant be the first to ask.
Tonight's practice full band ; mim tele broke e 1st song . Grabbed us 60 Annv. Tele . Played 3 songs . Grabbed different mim. Tele and finished practice. They are all great !!! No daylight between them... It's down to which one matches your outfit the best .....
The intro: Gone all PINK FLOYD on us!
More like tool
My guess on the bridge tap for the Jazzmaster is to clean up the signal when playing with a lot of fuzz
