I lost it at "Leave the puppet" at the end.

I don't think it is though - Jeremy olenski is the voice in this parody. Kevin clash (former) and now Ryan Dillon are Elmo now... pretty sure.

It's sad to me that they just got rid of Elmo like that.when I was a little child I loved Elmo and watching this video just made me realize that learning from PBS kids is way better then wat King stuff off of TH-cam and to be honest so many people don't care about Elmo or even the Ackerman of him it seems like they only cAre about them selfs now but not the lives of others or even there own children because Elmo is a puppet that is amazing at teaching kids what they need to start school.

We realize that elmo was a grown man all along.
What I love about this parody is that it would have been so easy to make Elmo uncharacteristically yell and swear throughout, but they kept him as much in character as possible without relying on edgy “jokes” as humor, and more so comes from his child like demeanor to an adult situation.

Oscar Xiong yea these days kids be looking at porn when their mom is away instead of doing something better I LOVED PBS when I was younger and it taught me English by ITSELF (my parents didn't know English and of course there was school to teach me)
That can be because these days, some parents are so lazy, they think TH-cam is nothing more than a free babysitter so they don't have to be responsible for little Timmy learning bad words, they can pass the buck to TH-cam.

A lot of you guys are missing the point. Yes, Sesame Street will still be on HBO, but PBS was free to everyone. Not everyone can afford even basic cable. PBS gave kids the opportunity to learn a little more without having to pay extra. I, for one, grew up watching Sesame Street and loved it and I'm sure it helped me as a kid. Taking this away from kids can do nothing but hurt future generations.

J Burke how on earth is it propaganda? Also, it wasn't like kids just stayed in front of the tv all day. All the PBS shows encouraged reading and outdoor activities. Heck there were even shows all about books! Reading Rainbow and Between the Lions are great examples! Also, money that goes towards the future generations is never a waste. You've benefited from past generations and so have many others.
The Real good point and I really hope parents can utilize if they can for their kids! I mean, even though not all households have internet, it is becoming more widespread and free wifi is everywhere. Heck, even just taking the kids to a library after school to use the computer for like an hour would be good. It's all about finding a way.

I agree that children need to read and continually work on it. However, some kids have real difficulty with reading, struggle with it and visual learning is critical to their learning. Also embedding learning in a context that is visual and makes it meaningful to a young chid (puppets, stories, etc.) it creates a certain motivation and love for learning that some kids, especially those with reading difficulites can't get from books .

Jim Henson created such a great and massive cultural phenomenon with his work that seeing a muppet without a puppeteer feels almost like looking at a dead body

Elmo works for HBO, not PBS. Sesame Street is worth millions a year in merchandise.
PBS gets the old shows from HBO as a tax write off that will not change with the removal of government funding to PBS. Having PBS as free advertising for your merch is too profitable to cut them off from the old episodes.

I don't give my kids a tablet. They watch a stationary tv when it's tv time, and then I turn it off for books and play time. I'd prefer pbs on local tv.
