Thanks for today's demonstration. The haunting foreground, the moody sky, the sizable sea and the sharp horizon line. Thanks for showing how to bring them all together with the appropriate edges and tonal contrasts and how to lead the eye around the painting. All are valuable lessons in composing a great work of art by bringing these elements harmoniously together.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment! I really appreciate it. Glad you find this video on the edges and the contrast helpful. Happy painting!
New sub to channel! Great work, choice of color. Bored with acrylic, oil, problems dealing with cleanup. Watching you work, think you will be great teacher. Love your interaction with comments from subs. Take care young artist...
Thank you so much! Glad you are enjoying my videos, and thank you for subscribing too! Watercolours are such incredible fun. I used to paint in oils and acrylics as well, but I kept coming back to watercolours because there is nothing else like this free-spirited medium ✨
Dear Anastasia, in another of your films you used French Ochre for such a grassy foreground. And here Row Umber. How do you make such decisions? I lern a lot from you.❤
I am so glad you a learning a lot from my videos! In this case, the landscape is quite dark and moody, so I picked up Raw Umber here as it is darker and more rich than French Ochre... I love using French Ochre for lighter and more "airy" scenes. Hope this helps!
Bonjour.
I think this is absolutely beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, but that little white mark that you left not the moon the other mark in the sky that you left white ruins the whole thing I think maybe I’m just going crazy because I have OCD.
Thank you for watching! That one little white mark doesn’t bother me one bit 😁 I actually love these little “imperfections” and “unfinished” areas in watercolour paintings as they show off the playful nature of this medium. Plus I stay away from chasing perfection in my work. But we are all unique so we see things differently which is a beautiful thing.

Forgot to ask..do you do urban scene type of painting?
I almost never do… I love wild places the most 🏔️
