I recently decluttered my pantry, and I no longer feel GUILT every time I open my pantry door. It feels so good to know we are eating what we have, and that’s enough. I totally resonate with the “fantasy self.” I LOVE to cook and bake. We save lots of money only going out once or twice a month.
Loved this Madi and really love your longer videos. I always play them while I’m doing breakfast clean up! I was recently talking to a friend who lives in Britain and they also have been hit with inflation prices/food shortages. I asked her what she stocks up on and she started to laugh. “We don’t stock up. We just eat what we have and get more when we need it and if we don’t have it we adjust.” It made me think really hard about food security and how it can overtake our pantries and if we don’t consume and just hoard we end up having to throw it out as I’ve painfully experienced before. Thank you for showing us what perhaps, in my opinion, is a more “normal” looking pantry/fridge. One that doesn’t look curated in fear but present moment needs. Wow.
@@MadisunGray Oh! You are so welcome. 🙂 I look forward to your videos every week with much expectancy! You are such a refreshing voice and a kindred spirit.
It makes perfect sense that a cluttered pantry and fridge dampens desire to cook. I've been in a cooking rut lately and I bet I could jumpstart it by doing a thorough clean and declutter!
Love this, of course, love ALL your videos😊 I’m learning about slow living, through you. And I want to learn more about slow food, especially for my kids. I don’t want them to eat processed foods. It would be really cool if you could do a video on maybe staple meals and snack that you do for your family!
Starting with food clutter on your journey to minimalism is such a good tip. And, thanks for calling this out...Yes, as responsible as we are, sometimes we need to throw things out & it's ok! I love how you incorporated self-acceptance into a food declutter video. Remarkable & so true. I'd love to learn more about your diet & go-to recipes. I am so intimidated by smoothies, soups & sourdough starters!
Oh man, those cinnamon rolls!. I made some homemade for the first time a couple weeks ago and they were so amazing. They were a problem. I ate too many. Now I want to make more 😅
I recently just made my first ever batch of homemade biscuits and it was way easier than I ever thought it would be! I also cleaned out my spice cabinet and organized it and I feel so much better about it. I have a few things that didn’t fit in my new spice rack that I’m trying to find a home for but the amount of duplicates I had 🤦🏼♀️ I’m so happy I did it. I have plans to clean my food cabinet next! I also love giving my 2 year old whole foods, his favorite snacks are blueberries, raspberries and cherry tomatoes. I want to try fresh green beans with him and I’m always looking for new foods for him to try for snack time. You mentioned slow foods and the first thing my mind went to was how I’m always looking for quick dinners to make, 30 min or less, instant pot dinners. And sometimes I think it’s because I want to spend more time with my son but I’m also thinking he likes being in the kitchen with me, and I definitely have time to spend making dinner a bit more from scratch and making it more healthy and giving my son the opportunity to learn and cook and spend in the kitchen with me.
I love all of this- I feel like we have so much in common! Ok about the “slow food” thing though, sorry I confused you, you definitely don’t have to spend lots of time cooking every night 😂 I certainly don’t! Sometimes I do, but most of the time I don’t because slow food is about savoring the food and the process and the people around you, no obligation to make food slowly. Restaurant food can be slow food too! Love your decluttering process and your priority to spend time with your son and feed him well! You’re doing a great job, give yourself some grace though too, to not have to do it perfect. ❤️
This was so informative and inspiring! The cost of food and restaurant increases has made my hubs and I more aware of wastefulness and trying to eat well. We are growing gardens in 3 places, and looking forward to sharing, trading, and blessing others with the yields. Hope they like tomatoes! I'm encouraged by you to spend some time making a meal plan and seeing what we have to make SLOW food going forward.
I am admittedly someone who has been a supplement hoarder in the past. Thankfully, I was able to overcome the ‘what if I throw this away then need it later?’ fear I had. Great video!
Hey, Madisun! Thanks for the pantry tour. It would be awesome if you'd do a video giving recipe ideas for vegan eating. I run out of inspiration pretty quickly and it's always fun to see what other people enjoy cooking up. 😊
Love your outlook and enjoyed the decluttering! 🥰 I’d love to see what you use in regards to natural and minimal beauty and care products for you and your family. I’d love learn more about simple and natural living! You’re very inspiring! 🥰
Our animals & garden have helped me tremendously with guilt in this area... in that our chickens, rabbit, dog, cat, & compost pile get a lot of our food waste 😅 💚
Love it! ❤ sorry catching up. just found you a few days ago so I’m commenting on your old stuff haha 😂. We vacate minimalist last year and it’s amazing! We have found ourselves getting closer and closer to very minimal and we love it!
The concept of your video fascinated me as I too have struggled with food clutter. You have some great tips how to do that here. I also love the idea of slow food in my older age & never too excited to eat out much anymore. I'd love to know how you treat pink eye with chamomile? :)
Hi Madi!! Yes, convenience always comes with a cost... it applies to anything, especially food!❤ I've been looking for very simple staple ingredients to always keep at hand to still been able to make nutritious food without spending a fortune! Instead of eating out on busy days, I'm using the crockpot more often!❤
Love this! Sustainable/affordable bulk containers are old ice cream bins. I got some from booster juice, and most places that serve ice cream in big bins will give them away or sell for a dollar or two.
I’m glad to hear where you live it’s easy and reliable to find supplements…however, where I live in Canada all food and even everyday items let alone supplements are very unreliably available. I’ve become a minimalist ‘prepper. The supply chain is really hit and miss. It’s pretty crazy.
It’s a great detox! I use it in a face wash sometimes, or with water if I feel like I might be getting sick. But it’s so versatile! Thanks for watching!
I know this was from 8mo ago but do you have that cinnamon roll recipe still? This was a great video I clean out my moms pantry every time I go visit every year or two. It makes me feel good when I leave her with good fresh food.
I follow Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy on TH-cam and she says to throw those old vitamins into the compost! 😆 She’s super fun + wholesome when it comes to gardening! Thank you for this! We are tiny living in a camper right now and our pantry has to be evaluated often because of the small space!!
Love your videos. Thanks for showing us what’s in your pantry.. I have diabetes 2 and my body can’t metabolise any grains. I break out in sores unfortunately.
Hi! You are completely reenergizing me back to minimalism and slow living. I’ve been on and off for a few years and I’m needing more consistency. Love that your tips seem sustainable for the long term. I don’t have a Pinterest account - trying to minimize my social media accounts. Would you mind sharing a link to the cinnamon roll recipe? Thank you!
I have a lot of questions as a fellow crunchy mom… how do you make oat milk from power? I have made it from rolled oats a dozen times and no one likes it! Also what do make with all the garbanzo beans? I do hummus but that’s about it. Would love some recipes!
Hi Maddie, thank you for sharing! You are my favorite minimalist. Could you tell me how you heeled pink eye with chamomile, please? It's really important to me and my family. Thank you!
Love this video! Thank you for giving me permission to throw away the not quite spoiled food that lives in my kitchen-- way past fresh enough to want to eat it, but still leaving me feeling guilty to throw it away! One question though.. you mentioned ground up oats for oat milk. Do you have a recipe for that? I was curious what you do with them because the recipes I've seen use rolled oats. Thanks!!
Hey Stephanie, I just tend to not really worry too much, I do have some bulk dry products that I know we could make it work with for a week but also know we could work together with our community of friends / family and neighbors if that issue did arise. Good point. Something to consider. I think following your own intuition is important.
I love this Madi. I really wish my husband would be on board as well.. He's one to stock up if u know what I mean... lol.. I ask for a jar of apple sauce and he bring 3 😁... any whoot.... what vitamins do ur children take on the daily and you as well.

I never really learned how to cook. My toxic trait is that to me this looks like you don’t have food to eat, just ingredients. I desire to change that. I just don’t know where/how to start
My Naturopath told me I should not be taking supplements unless my blood work shows a deficiency. She said they can change the chemicals in the body like pharmaceuticals do.
Did you know cane sugar, organic or not is actually super harmful to our bodies? For years I thought that cane sugar was the best most natural sugar but I’ve learned how wrong I was. If you aren’t already I would highly suggest following Flavcity here on TH-cam. Bobby is a really great resource when it comes to different ingredients in food and what you should buy or avoid!
I'd love to hear from you! What are your thoughts/experience with food clutter? Do you resonate with "slow food"? Thanks for watching!✨
