Please see the video description for links to PDF copies of the SX-70 manual. And yes... I know... An Instant Camera Guy video under 5 minutes long? Practically TikTok content at this point...
This videos great, I always see people open their sonars and slr 680s by literally pushing the sonar/flash module up against the camera. Which is terrifying
I don't have or really want (I'm broke and already have a 35mm A-1) this camera. Still clicked immediately after seeing it pop up, such a neat thing Real pretty too (The video pop up I mean :) )
My sx70s arm doesnr “click” into place when i pull open the camera, it actually opens fine but half the time the arm doesnt go all the way out, it is un refurbished and i will get it done soon,
Sonar and SLR680 cameras often have this issue due to the extra bulk of the sonar housing Sometimes its just due to the rails needing some lubricant And sometimes its just due to some kind of factory defect, spring tension etc. Either way it's actually a good idea to manually push the erection arm forwards to ensure it's all the way home, regardless of the cameras condition
@@theinstantcameraguysorry but can you explain what motion exactly to use and how to lubricate the rails? I have an sx70 with the sonar and it’s opens easily but its hard to lock it open, I have to push it hard and it scares me 😱
There also seems to be a lot of disagreement on how best to store SX-70s. I've heard that displaying them 'open' can damage the bellows over time but I've also seen people say that storing them closed can cause the bellows to stick together because of the way it folds up. What is your recommendation?
If the blinds don’t lift when open and there’s a little metal hook poking out, is it an easy repair? There’s one for sale near me like this. (Thanks in advance! Love your work)
@@theinstantcameraguy …. just put it on a 80 minute loop to satisfy your viewers love of extended length videos. It will also hopefully brainwash and drum it into those fools who mess up opening the SX-70 cameras.

I know... and people wonder why their viewfinders are suddenly so dim because they bent the heck out of their lens board and ruined the VF geometry...

@@barrycraig they MUST be stored closed. Whoever is telling you to store them open is simply talking out their behind
Absolute L advice

depends on the cause
A loose spring? easy
A loose spring due to snapped plastic post? hard
Would make a great short/tiktok
Yeah, make this a youtube short. Or a tiktok. It would probably just go viral.
And you say …. You can’t make short videos !!!!
How to open the camera - simples
@@monochromebluess I feel dirty
It's too short
Maybe I'll make a director's cut...
