    Great Job on that 65. My 65 has been Montero Red for 35 years. It is a Baltimore Car paint coded "P".
    Imp gonna leave it to my son and let him paint it Iris Mist. :)

    Nice job and thanks for posting. Our GTO’s are a privilege to own and maintain. It’s great to see another example brought back to life! For the record, my 65 is black w/red guts, 3.55 gears, 4-speed, posi, splitters and PHS documented. Keep ‘em rolling and be safe. Strange times what with the virus and all.

    Such a great job. The color alone makes it quite rare. I would rather work on a darker color that shows off the shine and the straightness of the body. More rewarding when they are done. I have done 8-9 restorations of this caliber over the last 30 years and I can appreciate what you have accomplished with this build. Some were in worse shape than this one and some were better but all took so many man hours to complete. Sometimes you can work all day and not see much improvement. I'm getting too old to take on anymore and just doing the easy crash work. My lungs are giving out. Protect yourself from the dust and keep on doing the great work and save as many of these classic's as possible. One thing that always made me mad was someone seeing a job like this in the final stages when you finally get to the buffing or hand polishing point and they ask you "wow, what kind of wax is that?" as though that is what makes the shine they see and think that their car would look the same if they used the same product. Again, great workmanship guys.

    It would've been nice to see before and after pictures of the radiator core support. It's very common for them to rust out on the lower driver side. These items are not available through the aftermarket. Would've been nice to see the work done to that area of the radiator core support.

    Really beautiful restoration and that Iris Mist color is stunning! It was a seldom-ordered color. I've seen a lot of '65 GTOs at shows over the years and I've never seen one in person.
    It's actually the same color as "Evening Orchid" on Chevys of that same year. As a side note I've always thought that "Evening Orchid" is probably the prettiest name for a car color ever. Sorry, I get choked up. Lol.

    • @gojoe2833

    I bought one of these (used) in 1973, for $500. Ran great, looked great. pale yellow, tan interior, 389, 3-2s, 4 speed. I was 16 years old. I sold it, joined the Air Force, moved away bought a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner... NEVER LOOKED BACK... BEEP BEEP... MOPAR or no car.

    A friend bought a 65 GTO new and still owns the car. It was a 389 4sp. Was stolen twice they ran the crap out of it then stole the 4sp. We put a 400 in it about 40 years ago. He has been in a nursing home about 6 mo. He is 79. Smoked the tires off.It's a weird blue with a blue interior 4.11 rear axle. Bone dry and rust free Western Washington car.

    I'm NO Pontiac expert, but a GTO serial number should start with 242, and not 237. Clone 1965 GTO?

    • @googleusergp
      @googleusergp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not in 1965. That would apply to 1966-1971 and then change again with it being a package for 1972. In 1964-1965 it was an option on a Lemans and did not have its' own VIN sequence series like the later cars did. The Pontiac Historical Society (PHS) documentation for this would show the GTO option and that is the way to confirm it. This particular one is a Kansas City, MO assembled car. So in 1964-1965 the VIN # alone will not tell you if it's a true GTO or not. Documentation such as a window sticker or better yet PHS documentation will confirm it.

    • @christianlaugesen6330
      @christianlaugesen6330 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not that a '65 GTO is rare. It that Iris Mist was a very rare color. Same color as the one called "Evening Orchid" on Chevys from 1965. It was rare on those cars too.
